NORFOLK SOUTHERN COUNTIES 13 Judge(s): DAVID WINSLEY Norfolk Terriers PD (1) 1 Jenkin’s Kinsridge Cashback, smart typy boy who has a clean outline, I like his size, he has a well balanced head with a good width of skull, correct shape to his eye giving him a keen expression, nicely filled muzzle. Medium length of neck which flows into his level topline, well angulated shoulders & straight front. Short backed & cobby body with a good spring of rib, well made hindquarters with a nice turn of stifle & correct tailset, correct quality coat which was nicely presented, moves with a good driving action, shows well & he should have a good future. BP & PG4. JD (1) 1 Cooper & Simpson’s Settrenda Secret Squirrel, a promising boy, needs to settle & improve in his showmanship. Nice width of skull, well placed ears with a good stop, could be a little shorter & fuller in muzzle. Good in neck & shoulder, correct spring of rib. Pleasing hindquarters which he can use when concentrating, not so positive with his front action. In nice coat & condition, has time on his side. PGD (4) 1 Simpson’s Umbrage Longton cum Megalex, good outline, would like him a little shorter in back for a better balance. Pleasing head, dark eye with a keen expression. Good in neck & shoulder, good spring of rib with a pleasing turn of stifle & correct tailset. His coat could do with a bit more judicious trimming to improve the picture, moved quite well but needs to show & work with his handler; 2 Lloyd’s Orison Thunderstorm, b/t of a smaller size than 1, I would have liked more width to his skull & muzzle, well placed ears, he has a good dark eye & a keen expression. Short backed, could carry more body to his advantage, pleasing turn of stifle with a correct tailset. He has a very good quality coat, moved well behind & showed well; 3 Haynes’ Cracknor Cut A Caper. LD (4) 1 Phillip’s Blakens Xpress Yourself, this boy stood out from the start, has a very pleasing head with the desired width of skull & well set ears, defined stop, dark expressive eyes & a well filled muzzle. Correct neck that runs into his level topline, short backed & cobby appearance. Straight in front, strongly made hindquarters, good tailset & carriage, quality coat which was presented 100 per cent as always by his owner, moved with plenty of drive from behind, disappointed me by being a little too slack in his front action, showed all out. His front was the deciding factor when challenging for the CC, so had to settle for the RCC; 2 Ackling’s Ruby Rueben, a nice looking boy who was just a little more refined than what I was looking for in a male. He has a pleasing head & expression, good neck but could improve in front construction. Nicely made body, strongly made hindquarters which he uses well on the move, correct tailset & shows well. Nice quality coat; 3 Haynes’ Cracknor Cut A Caper. OD (3) 1 Green’s Wharfvalley Diamond Star, I liked this dog’s size & mature outlook. He has a clean, well balanced outline & has balance with no exaggerations. Masculine head with no sign of coarseness, good proportions, enough width of skull, defined stop & well filled muzzle. Good eye for colour & shape, keen expression. Good neck that runs into his level topline, correctly made shoulders & straight front. Good body for spring of rib & for shortness, I thought he was carrying a touch too much weight. Strongly made hindquarters which he knows how to use, has a nice quality coat with good presentation. He shows himself off very well, so his owner needs to use this to her advantage. CC, his first; 2 Atkinson’s Moortop No Choice, nice boy with a pleasing head, would have liked more fullness to his muzzle. Has the desired keen expression, good neck & cobby body. Disappointed he failed in front action, he has well made hindquarters which he knows how to use. Correct tailset, in a good coat & condition, showed well; 3 Smith’s Javidel May Just Have Too. V (1) 1 Owen’s Hoathnor Jackanory, nearly 10 years old. His head is not his fortune being rather ‘old fashioned’. Straight front, good spring to his ribs, short backed with a nice turn of stifle. Moved well in front, but moving close behind. Has a great personality which showed in his enthusiastic showmanship. GC (2) 1 H Jackanory. PB (6) 1 Phillip’s Blakens Sugar Candy Kisses, what a lovely puppy! Very nice well balanced overall shape, good balance in head which has a very feminine look. Good neck & shoulders, straight front, cobby body with a good spring of rib. Well made hindquarters, short hocks, correct tailset. Again in a quality coat, immaculate presentation & moved soundly both ways. Showed like a trouper, close decision for BP, destined for the upper house I am sure; 2 Gee’s Watercroft In The Mixm, another nice girl. Has many similar attributes of 1. Nice in her head & expression, good neck & shoulders, short cobby body & good topline. In good coat & well presented. Moved well both ways, just needs to settle; 3 Howard’s Hatchwoods Last Tango. JB (3) 1 Gee’s Watercroft Top Of The Pops, nicely balanced girl with a good outline, short backed & low to ground. Good head, nice width of skull with well placed ears, just needs to fill out in muzzle a little. Good length of neck, correctly made shoulders with a straight front. Cobby & well ribbed, could carry a little more body, good turn of stifle & short hocks. Correct tailset & carriage, she has a quality coat which was nicely presented. Moved soundly both ways & showed with lots of enthusiasm. RCC. PGB (7) 1 Craddock & Collins’ Fontanesi Golden Twist, smart shapely bitch, cobby body & low enough to ground. Nice shaped head, ears well placed, good eye for shape & colour which gives her that keen expression. Good in neck & shoulder, nice straight front, very good spring of rib. Correct strongly made hindquarters with a good turn of stifle, correct tailset. In a good coat of the hard texture required, well presented, moved soundly both ways & showed well; 2 Simpson’s Tegwani Dream On at Megalex, lively girl with a nice overall shape. Pleasing head with a keen expression, well placed ears & correct in eye. Good neck & shoulders, straight front, well made body & hindquarters. Moved well both ways & showed well. Just needs more attention to her coat; 3 Lloyd’s Orison Thundercloud. LB (4) 1 Hurrion’s Villassa Cherry Ripple, this young bitch captivated me. Well balanced outline, nothing out of place. Correct & feminine head, good width between the ears that are well placed, nicely defined stop with a well filled muzzle. Dark eye with a keen expression, good length of neck which blends into her level topline, clean well angulated shoulders, straight front. Cobby body that has the desired spring of rib, well made hindquarters & well placed tailset. In a nice coat of the correct texture, well presented as one expects from this kennel. Moved soundly both ways with attitude, couldn’t deny her the CC & BOB. Pleased to hear she was placed G4 in a strong group; 2 Howard’s Hatchwoods Flamenco, more mature girl. Nice head & expression, well placed ears that she uses well. Good neck & shoulders with a straight front. Nice spring of rib, could be a shade shorter in back. Well made hindquarters though not as positive as 1 on the move. In a nice quality coat, shows well; 3 Owen’s Penmire Lilac. OB (4) 1 Sweigart & Beale’s Yarrow Venerie Tip The Scale, rich red of nice type. Good expression with a well defined stop, keen expression but fails in strength of muzzle. Nice reach of neck with a short back, tailset correct. In good coat & condition, moved well both ways & shows well. Just not enough of her; 2 Gee’s Watercroft Wedding Belle, appears a bit high on the leg & longer cast which spoilt her balance. Pleasing in her head with a feminine expression, good neck & shoulders. Level topline & tailset correct. In good coat but not as positive in movement as 1; 3 Devereux’s Vichea Easter Lily. DAVID WINSLEY |
