NORFOLK JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 15
Many thanks to all for a lovely day at the National Terrier judging some really good Norfolks. I was delighted with the overall quality & most impressed – as always – with the delightful temperaments displayed by these little dogs. Most dogs were presented in good order & it was a pleasure to judge them with a friendly atmosphere around the ring. Fronts & shoulders were overall good, but heads vary from being too toyish to long & narrow in foreface with heavy ears to what is required.
Minor Puppy – Dog (2,0)
1 Gee’s Watercroft Coin A Phrase, showy b/t puppy of excellent type, typical head, good dark eye of excellent shape, very sound front & rear, short back, ears still need to settle, moved well & he was well presented;
2 Lloyd’s Orison Custom Made, strong, sturdy puppy with good bone, very hard coat, too long in body & rather narrow in foreface. Needs to be shorter & more compact overall. Very full of himself in the ring but settled to move OK.
Puppy – Dog (3,0)
1 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Back Chat, top quality puppy of really lovely type, good head & expression, excellent neck & shoulders, good legs & feet, short level back, presented in lovely coat & condition, gassy showman who will no doubt trouble the best. BP & overall puppy winner. Congratulations;
2 Atkinson’s Moortop Marks Delivery, another very good puppy with really lovely head & expression, perfect ears, good eyes, short back, very good coat & rear & he showed sensibly, I liked him a lot, just preferred the extra good neck & shoulders of the eventual winner;
3 Atkinson’s Moortop Jack The Lad at Manybrook.
Junior - Dog (5,3)
1 Phillips’ Blakens Pay Back, top quality youngster of the type & style I was looking for, lovely head & expression, good legs & feet, excellent body & topline, sound rear, coat presented in wonderful condition trimmed by an expert. Moved & showed really well demonstrating true terrier spirit. A really lovely dog whom it gave me great pleasure to award the CC;
2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Scintillation, well constructed young dog with very good coat, really excellent front, neck & shoulders, good rear, a little narrow in foreface & not the head of the winner, rather hesitant on the move here.
Limit – Dog (5,1)
Excellent class so no easy decisions.?
1 Gee’s Watercroft In A Pickle, short backed very typy dog with excellent head, ears, eyes & expression, very good body & coat, moves & shows with great determination, perhaps a fraction short in neck, but a very good dog overall;
2 Jenkins’ Krisma Flashback to Kinsridge, another good dog with better neck & shoulders than the winner but larger in eyes & ears than the winner, good body, coat, rear & presentation, happy showman moving well;
3 Atkinson’s Blakens I Look To You.
Open – Dog (4,1)
1 Thompson-Morgan’s Ch Belleville Seduction, sizeable masculine dog in lovely coat & condition, soundest of fronts & rear, good body, excellent tight-fitting coat, easy fluid mover, head & ears not so pleasing which let him down in the challenge;
2 Phillips’ Ch Blakens The Kandy Man Kan, very good body, excellent type & size, lovely coat & condition, good bone, typical head & expression, not the front or ease of movement of the winner in this class, but a difficult decision between these two dogs representing different types & constructional virtues;
3 Lloyd’s Orison Midnight Myth.
Minor Puppy – Bitch (4,1)
1 Hitchen’s Kinsridge Lil Black Number, b/t baby puppy showing her socks off, very short backed with lovely outline & delightful temperament & excellent quarters, sound front, would have liked more bone & a harder coat;
2 Davies & Dixon’s Perrisblu Pricilla, very hard coated feminine bitch showing well, but she needs to knit together in body & she looks long today, rather plain in head & too large in eye, fair bone, excellent temperament;
3 Lloyd’s Orison Calm Attitude.
Puppy - Bitch (2,1)
1 Atkinson’s Moortop Just The One, short backed showy bitch of good type with excellent coat texture, sound rear, rather fine in head which needs a lot of time to develop, happy outgoing temperament, shows well using her quarters to advantage on the move but she is rather wide in front at this stage, time will be her best friend.
Junior – Bitch (9,3)
1 Darnell’s Jacquidon Next Sensation, sturdy b/t bitch who must not gain more weight, very good overall proportions, short level back, good spring of ribs, typical head with very good dark eye & ears, hard coat in good order, moved well;
2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Magic Spell, feminine very showy red bitch with good outline, excellent body & coat, good mover, fine in bone & head a little too toyish, well presented; 3 Thompson-Morgan’s Allright Black Bess.
Novice – Bitch (2,1)
1 Saltmarsh’s Pipridges Holly, very typical well made sturdy bitch in good coat, excellent body properties, good bone, front & rear, good ears, OK in eye, muzzle could be stronger, sound mover but could do with more enthusiasm & assertiveness on the move.
Post Graduate – Bitch (3,2)
1 Gardener’s Perrisblu Liberty at Danalas, big bitch with sound front & rear, excellent coat, good ribcage, sound mover, head needs more quality & I would have liked her shorter in back, good temperament.
Limit – Bitch (6,2)
1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Summer Crunch, lovely little bitch of beautiful type & overall make & shape, short back, good neck & shoulders, sound front & rear, very good coat, attractive, very typical feminine head with good eyes & ears, gassy mover & she never stopped showing, liked her a lot. RCC;
2 Gee’s Watercroft Top Tipple, beautifully presented feminine bitch in lovely coat & condition, pretty head & expression, good body & front, could do with a little more length of leg for perfection of overall balance, steady showgirl;
3 Saltmarsh’s Pipridges Hazel.
Open – Bitch (2,1)
1 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Top Tip, alone in this class but well worth waiting for. A really lovely bitch of outstanding type & quality, lovely head with good eyes & ears & true terrier expression, excellent front, neck & shoulders, short back, good coat in first-class condition, sound quarters, propelled herself around the ring with great self-assurance. A really lovely bitch who could not be denied CC & BOB. Delighted to see her put on a splendid performance in the group ring where she was shortlisted among some of the country’s top terriers.
