NORFOLK JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 13

Norfolk Terriers

MPD (3)

1 Hitchin’s Kreatin Tellin Tales, b/t, liked him a lot for his overall type, size & shape, good bite with dark eye of correct shape, skull developing well, good neck into well laid shoulders & a straight front, good length of ribs & a decent hind action, enough bone, moved & showed well. BP;

2 List’s Nicnips Dirty Harry, red of good size, make & shape. Could forgive his coat texture as novice handler who was new to the breed & could have been prepared to be exhibited in better coat;

3 Cooper & Simpson’s Settrenda Secret Squirrel.

PD (2)

1 Newton’s Strathinver Red Enough, red of good type & size, good head proportions dark eye & good bite, good neck. Could be better in front, but balanced with his hind action. Presented well;

2 N Dirty Harry.

JD (1)

1 Stevenson’s Brickin Fine And Dandy, liked him for his head & expression, good strength of muzzle & bite, up to size with a good topline with tailset on & carried well. Could be a little stronger behind & move with a little more purpose.

ND (1)

1 S Red Enough.

PGD (0).

LD (2)

1 Ackling’s Ruby Rueben, a dog whom I have admired before from the ringside, not the biggest but balanced & all in proportion. Correct head & skull with dark eye & good bite, good length of neck with well laid shoulder & straight front, short backed with a level topline, coat of good texture & presented well. Was disappointed with how this lad didn’t move with the purpose & drive that I know he can, however I must judge dogs on the day;

2 Mounfield’s Arderry Sky Rocket, different in type to 1 being overall larger & rangier. Strong head & lovely expression with dark eye & good bite. Not as short backed as 1 but in proportion. Well off for bone, coat coming in well, moved, handled & presented well

OD (6)

1 Mitchell’s Roxway Direct Line, I have previously awarded this dog RCC last time I judged & he has got better with age! Needs to be gone over to appreciate him, possesses characteristics the Standard asks for, not in any way glamorous but a functional honest dog. Excellent bite with large teeth, well rounded skull, enough stop, overall balanced standing & on the move, well off for bone, well ribbed with short loin, short in back with a level topline & tail set on. CC, his crowning third;

2 Smith’s Javidel May Just Have Too, r/w who has a little more scope than 1 & presents a good picture in side gait, looking at his head its all in proportion just not as strong as 1. Enough bone, balanced on the move fore & aft, performed better on the move than Rueben to win the RCC in the challenge;

3 Newton’s Strathinver Smart Enough.

MPB (2)

1 Phillips’ Blakens Sugar Candy Kisses, r/w, good size for age, pretty head & expression, good bite. Would prefer a little more neck & more lay back in shoulder. Enough bone, liked her on the move, moved well & showed well;

2 Devereux’s Vichea Geisha Girl, very feminine, not the finish of 1 at this age. Liked her head expression. Would prefer a slightly darker eye, will tighten in front in time, short behind with low driving hocks. Will present a pretty picture in months to come.

PB (4)

1 Smith’s Javidel Definitely Maybe, b/t, possesses a lot that I love in a Norfolk, great feminine type of good size & front construction, good in neck with a balanced body shape, great rear & a good bum – something I like to see on a Norfolk, well presented & handled;

2 Gee’s Watercroft In The Mix, smaller in size to 1 & not the confidence but again only a puppy so will improve with age. Good head, eye & bite, liked her for overall size & shape, good bone, moved well;

3 Glynn’s Brenin Vital Spirit at Kenberlynn.

JB (5)

1 Darnell’s Watercroft Cherry On Top, r/w of good type, liked her head & eye with correct bite, good neck, shoulders, well laid & straight front with well sprung ribs, well angulated behind;

2 Gee’s Watercroft Top Of The Pops, not as finished as 1 but from the same breeder. Liked her head type & ear carriage, liked her overall balance. Will make a better picture when finished. Well handled;

3 Smith’s Shanandi I Should Be So Lucky.

NB (3)

1 Saltmarsh’s Pipridges Hazel, well up to size but in proportion & balance, liked her head & expression, good bite & length of neck. Would prefer more layback on shoulder. Straight front. Could be a little shorter in back & move with more drive;

2 W Cherry On Top;

3 Simpson’s Tegwani Dream On at Megalex.

PGB (4)

1 Craddock & Collins’ Fontanesi Golden Twist, liked this one, good for her sassy Norfolk temperament & overall breed type, lovely feminine head & ear carriage, correct bite, great to go over. Could be a little tighter in front but good neck, short back with level topline, correct tailset, moves with drive & purpose from behind. RCC;

2 Bettesworth’s Kapitada Sweetness’N Light, pretty feminine bitch of good breed type & bone for size. Could be better in shoulder. Enough neck, short backed, good coat texture, moved & handled well;

3 Gee’s Watercroft Top Tia.

LB (4)

1 Gee’s Watercroft Wedding Belle, lovely head & expression, very much my kind of Norfolk, good bite, liked her bone, well sprung ribs of good length, strong topline with great quarters. Didn’t move with the purpose & drive that I have seen she can;

2 Mounfield’s Settrenda Sauce Pot with Jaeva, in her underwear here but could not hide or deny her qualities as a Norfolk. Good head & eye, correct bite, good neck & shoulders with straight front, short backed with tail set on. Could be a little more angulated behind. 1 & 2 could swap places on another day;

3 Devereux’s Vichea Easter Lily.

OB (3)

1 Devereux’s Vichea Dot And Carry, an honest & functional Norfolk who possesses all the Standard asks for, without glamour but one of the soundest you will see in the breed. Correct head & expressive ear, strong muzzle, great neck & shoulder, well sprung ribs with a short loin, tail carried straight, moves with purpose & drive from well let down hocks. Overlooked by some but not me, pleased to award her a third & crowning CC with BOB;

2 Stevenson’s Brickin Hop And Skip, red of lovely size & shape, great head & expression, when going over can see she is well made & put together. Did not move with the soundness of 1 here, but could change places on another day.
