NORFOLK NATIONAL TERRIER 11 Norfolk Terriers Judge/s:Mrs Dot Britten (Krisma) NORFOLK JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 11 Norfolk Terriers Compared with a few years ago the teeth & bites of Norfolks have improved considerably. The one thing that struck me were still the number of rangy, long backed exhibits, couple this fault with a plain head & you no longer have a Norfolk but a generic brown terrier. The Standard calls for compact & short backed twice. However, there were some very good dogs present & reason to be optimistic for the future. I was very happy to see the BOB be shortlisted for BIS. MPD (5) A lovely class of young males. 1 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Son Of A Gun, puppy with good construction & type, excelling in neck & shoulder. Correct head, broad & with strong muzzle, showed well; 2 Ackling’s Ruby Rueben, very much a baby but well constructed with short back & free movement, not as strong in head as 1; 3 Stevenson’s Brickin Wayward Affair. PD (1) 1 Dorkins’ Lowmita Cinnamon, very good showman, gave a good account of himself on the move & was well handled. Strong puppy, good construction, noticed particularly his excellent bite & large teeth. JD (3) 1 Matell’s Cantab Winning Ways of Cracknor, the best I have seen this dog, carrying more body & it made such a difference. Beautiful head & expression, good reach of neck & well laid shoulder, showed with confidence. RCC; 2 Philip’s Nordalset Look Out For Me, a little wayward today, making his handler work hard. Lost out on neck & shoulder to 1 & plainer in head, made more evident because he was in very short coat, excellent bite; 3 Mounfield’s Arderry Sky Rocket. ND (2) 1 L Cinnamon; 2 Haynes’ Cracknor Cut A Caper, moved well but rather large & long in back. Broad head but longer in muzzle, good bite with large teeth. PGD (3) 1 Green’s Wharfvalley Diamond Star, in good coat & condition, sound construction, rather stubborn on the move; 2 Hess & Higgins’ Umbrage Ironstone, lovely head with broad muzzle, lack of coat made him appear longer, a reluctant showman. LD (5) 1 Atkinson’s Wharfvalley Diamond Bright at Moortop, pleasing dog to go over, sound on the move, would like less length of coat on hindquarters that makes him appear rather long; 2 Smith’s Javidel Come What May, good showman, excellent neck & shoulder, nice type, not as free behind as 1 on the move, well presented; 3 Philip’s Jaeva Well I’ll be Darned at Nordalset. OD (2) 1 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Top Gun, most attractive Norfolk with such good balance & perfect for size. Great head & expression, strong neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Short coupled & well set tail. Well angulated hindquarters, showed very well & moved with enthusiasm & drive. CC & BOB. I was happy to see him give a great account of himself in BIS ring; 2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Lord Angel, very sound to go over with good neck & shoulder, straight front, not as strong in head as 1, but well balanced. He was uncooperative & was determined not to make the most of himself. Frustrating for his handler. MPB (2) 1 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Gung Ho, really feminine & perfectly balanced & angulated. Lovely neck & shoulders, absolutely full of herself & propelled herself effortlessly round the ring. BP; 2 Stevenson’s Brickin Party Time, feminine & animated puppy who was very good to go over. Good for balance & proportions, ready for a new coat but moved very freely. PB (6) 1 Hurrion’s Vilassa All Gold, this puppy was in excellent coat & condition, well presented. Good construction, short back & moved freely. Responded very well to her handler; 2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Cherry Red, lovely headed bitch & soundly constructed, though not as short coupled as 1, moved well. JB (3) 1 Hitchen’s Belleville Charlie’s Angel for Kreatin, nice b/t in good coat & condition & trimmed to advantage. Short coupled & well angulated, very feminine, moved with stretch & drive; 2 McPhee’s Foxhouse Flashdance, bitch with great body & bone, one of the best heads on the day, moved well. NB (3) 1 Dorkin’s Lowmita Saffron, pleasing type of bitch with short back & showing well, movement better in front than behind. PGB (7) 1 Ruffles’ Ruffnor Offbeat, very nice bitch of good type. Great head & expression, very well balanced. Good bone & substance, well schooled & responsive to her handler; 2 Hess & Higgins’ Umbrage Sparch Grove, good in shape & profile, pleasing head & very good bite, presented in good condition; 3 Atkinson’s Moortop Shandy Choice; LB (7) 1 Matell’s Cracknor Custom Made, I liked this bitch very much when I judged her as a puppy & felt she had matured well. She has the combination of good size, type, sound construction, good bone & substance without losing her femininity. To top it all a perfect tail. CC; 2 Phillips’ Blakens Dolly Mixture, top quality bitch, beautifully presented. She has all the essentials, including a cracking head. Well handled & schooled, preferred the size of 1; 3 Ruffles’ Ruffnor Off The Peg. OB (4) 1 Phillips’ & Tate’s Jaeva Hell’s Fury, good for size & balance & very feminine. When standing presented a great profile & made the most of herself. Excels in neck & shoulders, moved well. RCC; 2 Mitchell’s Richell Show Off, bitch with quality & responded well to her handler, as I have come to expect from this kennel. Good bone & substance, well constructed, moved freely. Not quite as feminine as 1; 3 Hurrion’s Valentine’s Cherry Crumble. DOT BRITTEN |
