Midland Counties Norfolk Terrier Association - Critique
I would like to thank the MCNTA Committee for their invitation to judge the Clubs Championship Show & to the exhibitors for their excellent entry of friendly Norfolks. I consider it an honour. As a breed we still have a way to go to breed correct mouths & straight tails but we are making good progress. I found the bitch classes & top dogs of good type & quality.
Minor Puppy – Dog (4,1)
1 Atkinson’s Charlie Blake – Well grown youngster, good head, dark eye and expression, with good reach of neck, shoulders and topline, which he held on the move, very smart red, won on maturity.
2 Gee’s Watercroft Chilli Pepper – promising 6 months old coming along well. Attractive head and expression, moved and showed well, in good coat and condition.
3 Smith’s Javidel May Contain Nuts
Puppy – Dog (4,1)
1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Slipstream Broad head, dark eye, correct mouth, lovely reach of neck and topline, in good textured coat, covered the ground well on the move, still to mature but very promising BPD
.2 Gee’s Watercroft Rum’N’Raisin 10 mths, typical and well shaped head, dark eye and correct bite, well bodied. Good spring of rib, level topline and straight tail.
3 Smith’s Javidel May Contain Nuts
Junior – Dog (3,1)
1 Atkinson’s Moortop Marks Delivery - Broad head, wide muzzle but a little short, dark eye and expression, well bodied, good bone and feet, moved OK and well presented.
2 Gee’s Watercroft Coin A Phrase masculine and broad head, good ear set, correct bite, well bodied, moved steadily, not in his best coat today.
Post Graduate – Dog (2,1)
1 Sant’s Nordalset Look To The Future Well proportioned head and neat ears, well ribbed body and good bone and feet. Front movement OK, needs new coat.
Limit - Dog (4,1)
1 Jenkin’s Kinsridge Back Chat - Masculine headed dog with a very good mouth and expression, excels in neck, flowing smoothly into lovely shoulders and short back, good body and bone. Very good front movement but could have more drive from hind quarters. Not yet fully mature, in excellent coat and condition.
2 Atkinson’s Blakens I Look To You – B&T, liked his head, ears and expression. Short back, good topline and very nice straight tail. Well presented in good coat and condition.
3 Philip’s Nordalset Got That Look
Open – Dog (4,2)
1 Gee’s Ch Watercroft In A Pickle Liked his masculine well proportioned head, good mouth and ears and typical expression, Neck flows nicely into his shoulders giving him a good straight and well boned front, moved well both ends and showed well with animation. Well presented and handled to win CC and RBIS.
2 Phillips’s Ch Blakens Pay Back Absolutely outstanding dog to go over! Lovely type and so well balanced. Beautiful head and expression, correct bite and large teeth. His crested neck flows into good shoulders and front. Lovely topline and well carried tail. Such a balanced outline and a great showman. His front movement was fine but today his hind movement lacked drive. Well presented in beautiful coat, RCC.
Minor Puppy – Bitch (5,2)
1 Gee’s Watercroft Saffron Well made and balanced puppy, lovely type, wide feminine head, dark eye and correct mouth. Good bone and substance, level topline and correct tailset. Could lose a little weight to advantage, moved and showed very well.
2 Philip’s Nordalset Chase The Storm B&T, good typey puppy, well made with level topline. Moved OK. Just preferred the head of 1. Very good coat texture.
3 Hurrion’s Villassa Cherry Tart Very good puppy but the least mature in this class. Coat just coming through, moved well.
Puppy – Bitch (3,0)
1 Phillips’s Blakens Tootie Fruttie Beautiful head, correct mouth, liked her balanced out line, good spring of rib, well made body and topline, straight tail. Excellent bone and feet, straight front. Moved very well holding her outline. BPB+ BPIS
2 Gee’s Watercroft Pop Picker slightly smarter than 1 but with the same attributes, very pretty head, good stop, dark eye, lovely expression, balanced outline, well made body and shape, preferred tail of 1, moved and showed beautifully.
3 Devereux’s Vichea Cash and Carry Very smart puppy, still maturing and could not compete on coat today.
Junior – Bitch (5,2)
1 Dixon & Davis Perrisblu Pricilla Smart youngster of good type. Feminine head. Liked her alert expression, correct mouth, well made throughout with good neck, shoulders, topline and tailset. Moved well holding ger topline and showed with animation. In last 4 for bitch awards – needed more coat and furnishings
2 Stevenson’s Brickin Simplicity B&T of quality bitch of excellent type, still needs time to mature. Nicely proportioned head, level topline, moved with drive but a little loose in front movement.
3 Devereux’s Vichea Heavens Above
Yearling – Bitch (2,1)
1 Hurrion’s Villassa Gold N’Delight Still a junior and still has maturing to do but of good type. Attractive head, good mouth, reach of neck, and spring of rib. Well boned and tailset, moved with drive.
Post Graduate – Bitch (7,4)
1 Stevenson’s Brickin Heartstring, Happy and alert bitch of good type and size. Has a good outline and straight front, coat just need a tidy up.
2 Philip’s Nordalset Sunny Skies Good type, well made body, liked head and expression, could lose some weight to advantage as moved a little wide in front.
3 Mounfield’s Arderry She’s The One A bit unsettled today. Just growing a quality new coat.
Limit – Bitch (10,4)
The strongest class – appreciated the virtues of all 6.
1 Darnell’s Jacquidon Next Sensation – B&T, this quality bitch is a lovely type, scores in reach of neck, topline and outline. Moved very well indeed which won her the class. In good textured coat. Should lose a little weight to go to the top.
2 Thompson-Morgan’s Allright Black Bess (IMP DEU) B&T, another of very high quality, lovely reach of neck and out line, pretty head, liked her correct shoulders and front. Moved well when settled and in correct coat and condition.
3 Devereux’s Vichea Little Gem Made up a quality trio, tidy and neat, well balanced throughout. Lovely head and expression in good coat and condition, moved well.
Open – Bitch (3,1)
1 Jenkins’s CH Kinsridge Top Tip This bitch has had an outstanding year for the breed. I found her stylish, balanced out line “stunning”, both standing moving. Not a large bitch but very well constructed. Feminine head, super reach of neck, short backed, level topline and tailset. In great coat and condition, moved well, showed with style and animation. BCC + BIS
2 Gee’s CH Watercroft Top Tia The only other Norfolk bitch to win her title this year. Very typical in type from this kennel, neat balanced and well constructed. Pleasing head, neat ears, dark eye, and correct mouth. Correct reach of neck, short back, super short upright tail, well bodied and sound. In excellent coat and condition. Not quite the drive in movement, but showed beautifully. RBCC + RBIS
Veteran – Bitch (2,0)
1 Hurrion’s CH Valentines Cherry Crumble BVIS, 2 Atkinson’s CH Hobsons Choice At Moortop Two very worthy champions – But a big difference in their ages! Both looking and showing very well. A very difficult decision.

2 Mrs C S Thompson-Morgan - Belleville Slipstream
Special Open – Bitch (4,2)
1 Mrs C S Thompson-Morgan – Allright Black Bess (IMP DEU)
2 Mrs D Mounfield – Arderry She’s The One
Special Open - Dog (4,2)
1 Gee's Watercroft Chilli Pepper, just 6 mths old red quality puppy with a good head, mature for his age, lovely bone and front, still in puppy coat, moved and showed well. Hope he doesn't grow much more.
2 Thompson-Morgan's Belleville Slipstream this dog is improving every time I see him. Another quality puppy, red, with a lovely head and eye, level topline, good front, well let down hocks, hard close coat, has moments showing what a lovely mover he is but needs that little more confidence to give his all.
Special Open – Bitch (4,2)
1 Thompson-Morgan’s Allright Black Bess (IMP DEU) B&T that I have judged before and she still sparkles to me as much as she did last time. Compact and cobby, correct bite, well handled, in a quality coat, moved out well with style and drive, showed non stop.
2 Mounfield’s Arderry She’s The One Her first show on returning to the ring after having had a litter this year. Well set ears, correct bite, strong neck. Her coat just coming back into correct texture.
