NORFOLK LKA 10 Judge: Mrs R E Corkhill NORFOLK JUDGE LKA 10 Norfolk Terriers MPD (3) Three promising pups all with good teeth. 1 Gee’s Watercroft Hot News, super coated 7 months b/t youngster whom until OD was the best male I judged, great head, eyes & expression, very sound construction, the best neck & shoulders in the class & one of the correct few in the whole entry, straight well boned front legs, moved with good stride & driving from nicely angulated hindquarters, short back, good length ribs & enough depth for age, showed very well presenting pleasing picture & strongly considered for RCC. Was tired by BP; 2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Roll On Friday, 7 months, shade larger naughty red, head proportions not as good. Less stop giving longer appearance but alert expression, short level back, long ribs with good depth, bone & substance, good coat, soundly constructed, moving well when he concentrated, his handler coped well; 3 Dorkins’ Lowmita Cinnamon. PD (0). JD (8,1a) All three good bites. 1 Green’s Wharfvalley Diamond Star, handsome sound showy red, typical head of good proportions, broad skull, good stop & muzzle length, correct but appears a bit foxy, balanced mover with enough reach & drive, good bone & substance, in excellent coat & condition, short back, cobby well made body, close decision to win, steadier showman; 2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Lord Angel, b/t handful of exuberance, was more difficult to assess, moved very well up & down but not so good in profile. Very soundly constructed, bit better than 1, especially good straight front legs, very similar head properties, super coat & presentation, good bone & body; 3 Devereux’s Vichea Pick Pocket. PGD (3) More difficult class, less good but teeth fine. 1 Atkinson’s Wharfvalley Diamond Bright at Moortop, red, very similar to litter brother who was 1st in JD, best overall type of class, short legs & back, cobby well ribbed body, same type head as brother, excellent bone, substance & coat, well made hindquarters, moving freely but not so good in front. Needs more neck & better shoulder angulation to give good stride; 2 Jenkins’ Guestlings Fairbanks at Kinsridge, close decision for this quality, good coated red, but taller & rangier, lovely head, broad curved skull, good stop & correct length & shape of muzzle. Though preferred eye shape of 1. Good neck & shoulders, straight well boned front legs, moved very well in rear from excellent hindquarters of good angulation & low hocks. Tended to throw his front out a bit, though in profile looked fine. Needs time to mature; 3 Waters’ Southpoint Dante's Inferno. LD (2,1) 1 Smith’s Javidel Come What May, alone but worthy winner, quite sound & typical in good red coat, excellent head of correct shape & proportions, good bite, nice dark almond shaped eyes, alert expression, good bone, short, deep cobby body, good hindquarters. Needs more neck & layback of shoulders. Moved quite freely. OD (3) Super class, all three good type, size & teeth. 1 Thompson-Morgan’s Ch Belleville Blacklace, I was delighted with this stunning b/t, how he has matured & filled out in body since I awarded him RCC as a junior, short, compact & sound, super coat & presentation, most attractive head, correct broad skull & shortish muzzle, & alert typical expression, nice straight front legs, correct length neck & the best shoulders, well angulated driving hindquarters, he ‘filled my eye’ as they say. CC & BOB; 2 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Top Gun, red but very similar in many ways, same good small size, shape & overall type, super head & expression, correct skull to muzzle proportions but preferred eye shape of 1. Short back, deep well ribbed body, excellent hind legs moving with good propulsion, good bone. Not quite so good in front as 1 but strides out well. Lovely dog. RCC; 3 Stevenson’s Ch Penmire Wild Bramble by Brickin. MPB (8,2) First four lovely pups, good bites, all red. 1 Stevenson’s Brickin War Dance, jolly little 6 months girl who really took my eye, neat compact type, beautiful head, just right for age in size, shape & proportions, lovely small bright dark eyes, good length neck, well laid back shoulders, excellent well boned straight front legs, presented well in good coat, nicely angulated hind legs moving along with drive & purpose. Just piped at the post by older pup for BPB; 2 Gee’s Watercroft Hot Love, equally good pup, very similar to b/t litter brother, super 7 months pair to be proud of, lovely head, correct in every way, small dark almond shaped eyes giving mischievous expression, neck & shoulders OK, good texture, tidy coat, short back, cobby body, excellent hindquarters, moving very well; 3 Philip’s Nordalset Luv You Madly. PB (6,1) First three very nice, good teeth. 1 Phillips’ Jaeva Comfort And Joy, very eyecatching, sound & stylish, with mature attitude for pup. Not sure of age as not in catalogue. Moved freely in all directions, very good in profile striding well out in front in balance with driving hindquarters, typical head, correct shape & proportions, bright eyed keen expression, good neck & shoulders, well boned front legs, short enough in back, nice long ribcage starting to drop, perfect coat & presentation, well angulated hindquarters with low hocks. To be critical is a bit rangy but overall correct size & very showy. BP & RCC; 2 McPhee’s Foxhouse Flashdance, chunkier 11 month old, lower to ground with deeper ribs, more mature. Very heavy coat of correct texture detracted from outline. Lovely head, broad curved skull, strong shortish muzzle, good stop, but preferred eye shape of 1. Short enough back, excellent well angulated hind legs, moved with drive & good in profile. A bit untidy in front; 3 Bettesworth’s Kapitada Free Spirit. JB (8,4) First two very similar, bites all fine. 1 Hitchen’s Belleville Charlie’s Angel for Kreatin, small neat sound b/t who moved & showed extremely well once she settled, most attractive picture overall, sweet typical head, well proportioned & strong for rather small size, excellent small dark oval eyes, decent length neck, good shoulders, straight front, firm bone, coat spot on in condition & texture, short level back, good length ribs & well angulated hindquarters, very promising; 2 Phillips’ Ch Blakens Toffee Kisses, a touch larger b/t, soundly made but reluctant to move freely. Very good head, broad curved skull, good stop, shortish strong muzzle, alert expression though preferred eye shape of 1. OK in neck, shoulders & front legs, good bone, short backed cobby body, good & tidy coat, strong hind legs with well bent stifles & low hocks. Lacked the sparkle of 1; 3 Hess & Higgins’ Umbrage Sparch Grove. PGB (4,2) 1 Hitchen’s Kreatin Kiss ‘N’ Tell, on her own but deserved 1, soundly made with very good bone, good head in strength, skull & stop but longish muzzle, super dark eyes correct shape, bright expression, quite good neck & shoulders, front legs OK, short enough in back, long deep ribcage, very strong hindquarters with powerful drive in profile. A touch wide in front. Presents a pleasing overall picture. LB (3,1) Very similar reds, litter sisters, good bites. 1 Tate & Mounfield’s Settrenda Sauce Pot with Jaeva, won on freer better movement in all directions, head fits the Standard, good shape & proportions, dark small eyes, typical expression, good neck & shoulders quite well laid back, well boned straight front legs, short level back, compact deep body & ribs, hindquarters strong, well angulated with low hocks, coat perfect texture & presentation, very stylish showgirl; 2 Cooper’s Settrenda Saucy Sox, very nice type overall good balance & proportions, good head shape but not quite so appealing as 1 looks. A bit foxier in muzzle, though is broad & strong. Not such good neck & shoulder angulation. Hindquarters are equally as good as sister, short backed cobby body, moved quite well in profile but a bit wider in front, quite good drive from rear though a touch close. Thick coat of good texture. Not quite the finish of 1, but showed off equally as well. OB (2) 1 Hurrion’s Valentines Cherry Crumble, gorgeous light red young lady, beautiful, typical & sound, I fell for her last time I judged awarding her RCC, she was pushed hard by the pup but had the edge on maturity & cobbiness, lovely Norfolk head, broad curved skull, good stop, short strong muzzle, I totally forgave the missing tooth as jaw is strong & even, teeth show correct bite, truly ‘an honourable scar from fair wear & tear’, good neck & enough shoulder angulation, straight well boned front legs, short level back, good ribs, correct coat texture, moved very well from excellent hindquarters driving her along. To be critical would prefer more reach in front, went very true up & down. CC; 2 Hess & Higgins’ Kapitada Fireopal at Umbrage, rather outclassed compared to 1, good head of correct shape & proportions, strong muzzle, correct bite, typical expression, eyes small & dark, front legs OK but rather short neck & steep shoulders. Strong well muscled & angulated hindlegs though hocks a bit high, rather longer & larger overall. Moved & showed happily & freely. RUTH E CORKHILL |
