East Of England 23 Judge

NORFOLK EAST OF ENGLAND 23 Judge: Mrs Penny Sands My thanks to the East of England for the kind invitation to judge the Norfolks, albeit a couple of years on due to the dreaded Covid. An even bigger thank you must go to the exhibitors for the quality entry and by today’s standards, numerically strong, good to see correct dentition with just a couple of level bites. My thanks must also go to both my stewards, Sue and Carol, they did a sterling job at keeping everything running smoothly. 1. Davis’ Watercroft Cosmic Dust. Smart little red baby at just 6 months on the day, taking this all into his stride at his first show, pleasing proportions all through, I wouldn’t want to see anything different at this tender age except he just needs to tighten up a touch in front. 1. Gee’s Watercroft Strands of Gold. Developing nicely, this rich red boy at 11 months has a lovely well proportioned headpiece and dark, bright eyes, his neck is of the correct length and his shoulders back, he’s very well presented and moves off OK although he did have a bit of a huff and puff. 2. Thompson/Pope’s Belleville In A Word. Red lad at 9 months, his head has sufficient stop and a dark eye, but not using his ears today which I thought a tad low set so this does affect expression, he is ok for top-line good and coat texture although I think this might blow fairly soon, moving well going out but a tidge wide coming to. 1. Gee’s Watercroft Tiger Feet. Lovely masculine red pup at 11 months, no mistaking the sex of this young man, very smart and attentive to his handler, he has correctly proportioned head with a good expression, medium length of neck leading to good shoulders, compact through the body and good for bone and bend of stifle, moving well with drive and as usual, excellent presentation from this kennel. 2. Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Playmate. Another quality red youngster at just turned 12 months, he’s well put together with a balanced outline, attractive in head with an intelligent expression, a moderate neck fitting nicely into well laid shoulders, a short, strong top-line with a good tail set, moving well. 1. Harrison’s Jacquidon Rich Tea. A good sort, this red is a happy chappie, tail wagging and attentive to handler, ok for head with enough breadth and stop, dark eyes with plenty of expression, ok for ribbing and muscular quarters which he used on the move, jacket in fine order, pleased to see him later take Special Beginners Group 4, very well done. 1. Darnell’s Jacquidon Hot Off The Press. I loved this well balanced, cobby red boy, he has a very attractive head with broad skull, dark oval eyes and correct ear placement, he has a pleasing front with straight legs, compact and level top-line with a good spring of ribs, a good turn of stifle and plenty behind the tail, looking good on the move and standing four square, he comes in such a neat little package, RDCC. 2. Jenkins’ Kinsridge Cash Point. This red has a nicely proportioned head, clean shoulders, well angulated quarters and moved like a dream, however not the balance of 1st as I found him a tad long. 3. Davis’ Watercroft Earl Grey. 1. Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Plum Sauce. I loved this red boy, he has breed type in spades! His head is to the standard proportions with strength in muzzle, dark eyes and a keen expression, he has a good front, a short strong back and his ribs are well sprung, his tail is set level with his top-line, he has muscular quarters plus stands on neat feet, moving with enthusiasm, I was happy to award the DCC and BOB. 2. Gee’s Ch. Watercroft Boozy Miller. What more can be said about this super quality male, he has the best of outlines with such balance and symmetry, I can see why he features so well in the groups, expertly handled and presented he is quite the eye catcher, however, I preferred the head proportions and type of 1st on the day. 1. Harrison’s Jacquidon Rich Tea. Repeat. BSpB. 1. Jenkins’ Kinsridge Pocket Money. This delightful little red was enjoying every minute in the ring, such a little character and developing along the right lines, what an excellent start! At just 6 months old she put in such a good performance, good front assembly, super back end and moving well. 1. Gee’s Watercroft Back In A Jiffy. Oh my goodness, what a cracking little black/tan at 11 months topping a good class of pups, she has a beautiful head with a keen and alert expression, good ear placement and dark eyes, good front and top-line, shapely quarters and moving freely, with a coat of good colour and condition I was pleased to award her BP and was seriously considered for more. 2. Brackner’s Brupurhat Sprits Gift. 11 months red, this young lady is good for size and shape, moderate in neck, level top-line, good bend of stifle and well set tail, a nice package all over. 3. Jenkins/Simpson’s Kinsridge Pin Money TAF. 1. Tate’s Jaeva Puzzle Piece. I thought this young black/tan first rate, maturing nicely she put in a good performance, she has a pleasing head of good proportions, clean cut shoulders with depth to her brisket, compact in body with a level top-line and well sprung ribs, she has a good width and strength to stifles and short hocks, moving with drive she ticked all the boxes for me, I was pleased to award her the BCC, I understand her 3rd, congratulations! 2. Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Hope Star. Another good one from the top drawer, this red was very attentive to handler, compact and sturdy, good body lines, tail set and presented in tip top order. 1. Hess/Higgins’ Umbrage Special Delivery. Red, feminine but workmanlike, well placed ears, ok in front and good turn of stifle, well presented and handled. 2. Stevenson’s Brickin Country Charm. Such a happy and outgoing red girl, she is a tad rotund which affected her outline, she has a pleasing head and expression and a good overall shape but just a little portly. 3. Mason’s Tidy Dancer around Nosam. 1. Gee’s Watercroft Treacle Toffee JW. Super little red bitch, compact and sturdy with a good outline, feminine head, dark eyes, enough neck, good forechest and strong quarters plus ample bone on her limbs, her jacket is in very good order and moving very well, topping this class nicely, RBCC. 2. Stevenson’s Brickin Dare To Dream. Although I would prefer a little better definition of neck, her head is pleasing, front and top-line OK with moderate hind angulation, good mover but another carrying a smidge too much weight, she has a good harsh coat and very attentive to her handler, she went well. 3. Atkinson’s Moortop Bobby’s Girl. 1. Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Ovation. This bitch is in fine fettle for rising 8 years and was the best mover in the class, true fore and aft and sound as a pound, nice and compact, good for size with a correct front, good for ribbing and quarters plus a jacket in good order. 2. Gee’s Watercroft Gold Leaf. Attentive girl, very showy, she has dark eyes giving expression, ok in angulation and is moderate all through with a good top-line and tail set, moving better back than away. 3. Phillips’ Blakens Catch The Stars. 1. Macartney’s Nordalset Little Bit of Sun for Ivrig VW. Beautiful head on this rising 10 years black/tan, acquitting herself very well, with a pleasing head and eye, good for outline and shapely back end she went well, she has also kept her colour very well, BV. 1. Mason’s Tidy Dancer around Nosam. Pretty little girl, wagging tail and attentive to her handler, head of good shape and medium length of neck, front ok with good upper arm and layback however, a tad too much angulation at the rear which affected her hind movement.
