NORFOLK JUDGE EAST OF ENGLAND 21
I would like to express my thanks to the committee of East of England for affording me the privilege of my first appointment at a championship show and to my wonderful stewards who kept me focused. I also thank the exhibitors for their quality entry for which I had to make some difficult hair splitting decisions. A few observations that need to be addressed by breeders are the shape and colour of eyes and the stop with only a few had a good one.
The condition of the ring was not good. The grass too long, there were clumps of dead grass making the ground very uneven, which made assessing movement difficult.

1. Tate’s Jaeva Raising Hell: Cracking puppy to start the day. B&T of just 7 months who excels for breed type. Good width of skull, well placed ears, which he used well, lovely dark eye giving him a good expression. Correct length of neck with an excellent lay of shoulder. He has a short level back with well sprung ribcage. Lovely bone and nicely padded feet, he has an excellent straight tail and when he grows in confidence will carry beautifully. I’m sure he will have a bright future. He moved a little erratic but given the ground conditions this was to be expected, the further he went the more confidence he gained. In excellent jacket beautifully presented and sympathetically handled. One to watch.

1. Jenkins’ Kinsridge Talking Point: Another lovely puppy of 9 months, therefore having more maturity than the previous class winner. Attractive head with neat ears and a broad skull, strong foreface, excellent bite and a strong under jaw. Correct length of neck with super lay of shoulder, short back with good ribcage. He has a good bend of stifle and another with a good tail. He moved with purpose and handled the ground well. He was well presented and showed well. BP.

1. Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville High Life: 13 months old red dog whom I liked very much although he was typical of his age. He has a beautiful strong head with lovely expression and another with good dentition. Super neck and shoulder, short back, well sprung ribcage. He moved a little erratic and a little close behind but had to endure the horrible ground conditions. Well presented, liked his attitude.

1. Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Way Cool: Red dog of 22 months whom I have admired before. Quite immature for his age but he will soon come into himself. Lovely breed type, short and compact. He has an excellent head with good width between the ears, super expression, loved his grizzle head which added to his charm. Enough neck, excellent lay of shoulder, short back with well sprung ribs. He has lovely bone with tight feet. He had a good turn of stifle and moved well on the ground with a happy confident disposition. In excellent jacket and presentation. I’m sure he will have a bright future. RDCC

A strong class of lovely Norfolks; I am sure they will change places many times and today I was nit picking.
1. Simpson’s Brickin Wish Me Luck At Megalex: He walked in the ring today and I had to look twice at him. He has matured into a lovely Norfolk of excellent breed type, a cobby & slightly old fashioned sort. Good strong head, excellent width to skull with well placed ears. Good stop, dark eye and super expression, excellent bite. He has a good forechest and lovely bone feet. He handled the ground beautifully and was foot perfect for his handler keeping a level topline on the move, which just gave the edge over 2. Well presented with an excellent textured coat. Being critical, I would have preferred a shorter back and more bend of stifle.
2. Tate’s Winning Spree At Jaeva: I found today this 13 month old dog typical of his age, gangly but full of quality. I liked him very much and he is beautiful for type but needs time to mature. He has a strong head with a great expression, neat well placed ears and a dark eye. Excellent dentition. Good length of neck into well placed shoulder. Different type to 1st and needs to drop in body, which he will given time. He was presented to perfection, as are all dogs from this kennel and in excellent coat. He was a handful for his new handler on the move, being very enthusiastic, full of confidence and not settling. Sometimes he did not help himself, nevertheless a dog I will watch with interest.
3. Nash’s Ralph Of House Nash.

This was a very strong class and on another day things could be different.
1. Smith’s Javidel Despicable May: I have seen this 3 year old male on many occasions throw away CCs but I have never seen him in such tip top condition and presentation as he was today. For BOB he met the bitch and pulled himself up and shouted ‘today I’m the top dog’. A typy male, well balanced & low to the ground. He has a good head, broad skull, dark eye, neat ears and excellent bite. He has correct length neck, good ribcage and excellent bone with strong hindquarters, which he used to advantage. He handled the ground perfectly and never faltered in his movement, keeping a perfect topline. He was presented in excellent coat and condition and well deserved his crowning CC today, making him a worthy champion. BOB
2. Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Crumble Topping: Bigger male than the winner whom I have seen go many times with his very exuberant and enthusiastic manner. Masculine dog that has an attractive head, strong in muzzle and excellent bite. Would prefer a slightly smaller ear but still an attractive head. Enough neck, well sprung ribs lovely depth of body, strong hind quarters allowing him to power around the ring, coping well with the ground conditions and looking good in profile.
3. Philip’s Nordalset Festivities.

1. Brown’s Dajean Dotty’s Digger: A neat and tidy short cobby 8 year old red dog. He has a lovely head and expression and in full coat today. He moves well in front and goes along happily and proudly at the side of his handler. He managed the terrible ground conditions with ease.

1. Brown’s Dajean Dotty’s Digger.
Loved the puppy bitch classes, both full of quality puppies who will I am sure, change places as they grow and mature.

1 Tate’s Jaeva What The Hell: Smart quality well balanced 7 month B&T bitch. Lovely head of correct proportions, neat ears and a good mouth. I loved her correct length of neck running into well laid shoulders, super short body with strong level topline. Well angulated rear quarters. She had a perfectly straight tail, which when she felt confident, carried well. When she settled she moved well and with time she will gain confidence. Presented in excellent coat and condition. One to watch out for.
2. Stevenson’s Brickin Dare To Dream: This puppy isn’t ready yet but has a good shaped dark eye, neat ears and good mouth. I felt her head at the moment is too small for her body but this will come with maturity. She is good in neck and shoulder and carries excellent bone, nicely ribbed with a well set tail, one of the few that had a straight tail. Shown in puppy coat and not the finish of 1.
Happily showed herself off on the move and coped with the uneven ground admirably.
3. Philip’s Nordalset Brighter Skies.

1. Thompson-Morgan’s-Belleville Natural High: Stood out in this class. Bigger overall than the other two but well balanced, correct head proportions with a keen expression. Enough neck into well placed shoulders, well sprung ribs, nicely angulated, which she used to power herself around the ring coping well with the rough ground, loved her in profile. I would think a bright future when she matures, loved her attitude.
2. Hess & Higgin’s Umbrage Special Delivery: Different type to 1, very immature and shown in shorter coat but nonetheless sweet head with neat well placed ears, lovely dark eyes and good mouth. Correct length of neck into good shoulders, slightly longer in body than 1. Excellent tail, which she carried well when moving around the ring, holding her topline on the move. Full of confidence.
3. Price’s Umbrage Red Van.

1. Price’s Umbrage Red Van: Litter sister to Umbrage Special Delivery and she has similar attributes to her. She has a lovely dark eye, neat ears and correct head proportions. Good neck and shoulders, slightly shorter than her sister and not as long in loin. How lucky to have two puppies in one litter with such great tails. Coming into a lovely red jacket, shown and handled extremely well for her novice handler.

1 Stevenson’s Brickin Tell Me All: A 2 year old bitch I really liked a lot. Another from this kennel who has a strong head with good stop, neat ears and great almond shaped eyes, excellent mouth and a strong jaw. This bitch has enough length of neck and good shoulders but would benefit from losing some weight. Short back and good spring of rib, lovely bone moved out well. Norfolks from this kennel always have excellent textured jackets.
2. Nash’s Tiggy Of House Nash: Pleasing 3 year old B&T bitch in excellent order. Bigger than 1. Lovely head with correct head with a dark eye and well placed ears, dark eyes and good stop. Enough neck, strong ribcage, well angulated behind. In excellent hard coat and condition, presented beautifully. Showed well although possibly not handling the ground today but then no one could blame her.

1. Jenkins’ Kinsridge Tip Toes: Beautiful red bitch, compact and full of breed type. Good feminine head with plenty of stop, strong muzzle, good bite and neat ears. Her eyes could be a shade darker but this did not spoil her expression. Liked her length of neck running into well placed shoulders. Excellent strong ribcage, and short in loin. Shown today in great coat, presented 100% as always from this kennel. Moved reasonably in the long grass along with many others.
2. Dragon’s From Dash Mountain Farm’s High Falue Jaeva (Imp NLD): Strong B&T quality bitch, different type to 1 and not as compact but nonetheless a lovely Norfolk. Super head and expression, well placed ears, dark eye, good neck. Short backed with well sprung ribs. Excellent tail and set. Expertly handled by her young owner, coping well with the ground conditions. A credit to her and shown in beautiful coat and condition.

1. Brackner’s Bruperhat Wedding Crasher: Lovely quality bitch of excellent type. Super head with the neatest of ears, eyes a shade round but lovely and dark giving that Norfolk expression. Strong muzzle with great bite. Good neck, short back, very stocky compact bitch. Good angulation fore and aft enabling her to move well with a straight tail. Excellent bone and feet. Pleased to award her the RBCC.
2. Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Ovation: A mature bitch I have judged & liked before. Smaller than 1 but equally short, neat head with the darkest of eyes and a good bite. She lifted an ear occasionally but quite a while since being in the show ring. Excellent neck and shoulder short back but I felt she wasn’t as well ribbed as 1. Enough bone for her size. Showed and went well. Well handled.
3. Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville In The Black

1. Macartney’s Nordalset Little Bit Of Sun For Ivrig VW: A smart cobby 9 year old B&T bitch. Excellent shape for her age, in fact she gets better with age. Super head and expression, dark eye, good stop and super mouth with clean teeth. Correct length of neck, body short, well angled. Moved and showed well with a straight tail. She handled the ring conditions extremely well. In excellent coat and presented well.
