NORFOLK DRIFFIELD 19 Judge: Mr Roger Cruden BEST OF BREED : 3875 GEE Mrs R Ch Watercroft Pink Fizz NORFOLK JUDGE DRIFFIELD 19 Delighted to get the opportunity to judge this delightful breed and huge thanks to all of you who entered and gave me the chance to meet your dogs. 1 Gee: Watercroft Calling Card. What a little cracker to start off with! Bright eyes twinkling from a well-balanced head, strong neck into well-laid shoulders that gave him plenty in front and reach. Bang on straight in front, tight elbowed with good spring of rib. Powerful rear with good bend of stifle and strong hocks enabled him to drive powerfully, go Best Puppy in breed, and delighted though not surprised that he went on to win Puppy Group 2. 1. Newton Strathinver Time To Star. Very pleasing young dog with good shape to head and strong muzzle though I preferred the ears of 2. Strong neck, good lay of shoulder and well-developed chest. Compact body and ample rear angulation though not so much behind as 2. Still had good drive and reach and the best mover in this class. 2. Hadfield: Belleville Born To Be Free. This young guy looked the part having a bright expression on a good head, good forehand, well-sprung ribs and plenty behind. Unfortunately, he didn’t move as well as expected and lacked the drive I was hoping for. 1. Gee Watercroft To Coin A Phrase. Another super youngster edging towards adult maturity. Good breadth to skull, bright eyed with strong underjaw, strong neck into well-laid shoulders to straight back. Another with plenty fore and aft, well-muscled on rear to propel powerfully. Most settled of the three and was a strong contender in the challenge. 2. Atkinson Moortop My Mark Again. A very smart young dog not a settled as 1 with a penchant to sit. Pretty much managed to match the body strengths of 1 but didn’t have the head ratios. His maturity however was enough to warrant his second place. 3. Thompson-Morgan Belleville Just A Minute. 1. Deuchar-Fawcett, Fawcett & Wendt Strathinver Sargent Pepper. A 2-year-old red boy with decent head and body but not shown in the best condition. Unfortunately, his movement was hampered by his handler a bit but improved in the specbeg class. 1. Thompson-Morgan Ch Belleville Major Key. Super quality dog, having a well-balanced head, strong neck perfectly formed fore, good spring to his ribcage and strong little body. Another with plenty fore and aft with strong propulsion and plenty of reach. Presented in well-muscled condition and the best mover in this class. Well deserved BD and gave me the most difficult decision to make in the challenge against the bitch. 2. Smith Javidel Despicable May. An extremely well-made dog presenting a lovely profile and a true challenge to 1. His angulation at both ends gave him good reach and drive, sound true movement but didn’t quite have the overall quality of 1. RBD. 3. Walshe: Beritas The Name’ Bond. 1. Deuchar-Fawcett, Fawcett & Wendt: Strathinver Sargent Pepper. 2. Hadfield: Belleville Born To Be Free. PB (4) 1. Gee: Watercroft Bit Of Crumpet. More quality from this kennel but in comparison not as mature as the dog pup (her litter brother I believe). Has all the same qualities but just in more baby form and a bit looser. This little one is a slow burner and will certainly achieve greatly in the future and also today was a stage of maturity better off than 2. 2. Thompson-Morgan Belleville Li’l Black Number. One for the future here, only a baby but shows quality signs. Head is sweet and balanced, lay of shoulder is good and a bit of tightening on front will improve that small area. Nevertheless, still moved straight with a good rear action. 3. Atkinson Moortop Sweet Design. 1. Deuchar Fawcett Jaeva Candy Stripe. Just into junior and still got quite a bit to go. She is pretty sound in most body aspects but again, like the PG dog had her movement curtailed and not shown in the best light. 1. Gee Ch Watercroft Pink Fizz. What a gorgeous girl this is! Oozes quality from the tip of her black nose, past her dark bright eyes, strong neck, well-laid shoulder, short back and well-developed rear. Again, her good angulation gave her that prominent chest and rump that I like with a well-sprung deep chest to complement. Ever so sound on movement and despite a really strong challenge from the dog who was a bit distracted, took all the silverware with BB and BOB. 2. Thompson-Morgan Belleville Back To Black. A black & tan super wee girl who showed her quality literally as had no coat to speak of. Lovely shape to skull with super big clean teeth. Good angles front and rear and a strong mover. RBB. 1. Deuchar Fawcett: Jaeva Candy Stripe. |
