NORFOLK JUDGE DARLINGTON 16

Norfolk Terriers

It is always a pleasure to judge Norfolks, a breed I have been associated with for many years. The day started wet & Norfolks hate getting wet & so we had to manage in the indoor ring, some didn’t mind too much, some hated it. But it did clear later & were able to go outside. There was a great atmosphere around the ring & lots of laughter too, & applause for all the winners was much appreciated. It was a shame that the behaviour of one exhibitor nearly spoiled the day but thankfully the rest of the breed are more than pleasant & accepted my placings gracefully.

MPD (1)

1 Stevenson’s Brickin Pot Of Pickle, red dog of a lovely type, very together both standing & moving, good head & dark eye, very good front, good topline, moves & shows well. BPD.

PD (1)

1 Philip’s Nordalset Made To Boogie, very masculine dog, dark, excellent mouth, good neck & topline, good coat texture, not really settled on the grass today & also hope he doesn’t grow any more.

JD (0).

PGD (1)

1 Atkinson’s Charlie Blake at Moortop, very nice red dog, really nice to go over, good neck & shoulders, excellent topline, short coupled, lovely head & expression, excellent mouth, super front standing.

LD (2,1a)

1 Gee’s Watercroft Chilli Pepper, very showy young male of 16 months, super head & expression, neat ears, excellent mouth, good neck & shoulders, well bodied, in super coat & well handled, could have moved better on the grass but today most of the Norfolks didn’t move as well as I know they can. Looked good in the challenge & won the CC, his second.

OD (5,1)

Most difficult with heavy rain & a restricted indoor & many struggled moving.

1 Newton’s Strathinver Sea The Stars, very smart dog, very short & compact, good neck & shoulders, excellent topline, in super coat, moved OK in profile. RCC;

2 Atkinson’s Blakens I Look To You, b/t male who I liked when he came in but gave his handler a hard time especially on the move, a lovely type, all male with a lovely head & expression;

3 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Call Of Duty.

VB (1)

1 Hurrion’s Ch Valentines Cherry Crumble, 9 years old & what a smart little mover & took it all in her stride, moves with such purpose & really looked the part, excellent coat texture & well handled.

MPB (1)

1 Phillips’ Jaeva Keen As Mustard, very promising young bitch, very assured on the move, she has a most feminine head & expression, dark eye, excellent mouth, good neck & shoulders, excellent topline & tailset. Hopefully her coat will harden with age but at 7 months sure that will happen.

PB (2)

1 Gee’s Watercroft Diamons N’Pearls; 2 Macartney’s Ivrig First Bit Of Joy, two babies & both unruly today so splitting was not easy. 1 is out of a smaller mould, nice in head & expression. To be critical would like a bit more strength.

2 was a little bigger & doesn’t need to grow any more, not in her best coat today & started the class moving well but then decided to muck about.

JB (8,3)

This was a very difficult class with so many not moving well & poor heads.

1 Hurrion’s Villassa Too Choosi, very feminine bitch & outmoved the rest & the most collected, she is sound coming & going, very nice in head & dark eye giving good expression;

2 Stevenson’s Brickin Made For You, red bitch & nice to go over but not as collected, she has a nice head too but not as feminine as 1, very good front standing, excellent topline, now needing a new coat;

3 Darnell’s Jacquidon No Hesitation.

PGB (1)

1 Gee’s Watercroft Saffron, really sound moving bitch, one of the best today, she has a lovely head, neat ears, excellent mouth, good front, good bone, just carrying a little too much weight today but well deserving of first place. LB (5,1) 1 Gee’s Watercroft Pick Of The Pops, best mover here in this class, well put together, straight front, nice in head & expression, good topline & tailset. To be critical would like her a touch shorter in body. CC, her second, & BOB;

2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Ovation, red bitch & not as settled as 1 both standing & moving, she has a nice outline & was in good coat but not the head quality of 1 & where I split them; 3 Stevenson’s Brickin Simplicity.

OB (6,2)

1 Phillips’ Blakens Tootie Fruitie, very nice bitch, really looked the apart both standing & moving, very feminine head & expression, neat small ears, excellent front, very sound both ways & shown in sparkling condition, would just like a bit more strength in head. RCC;

2 Hurrion’s Villassa Cherry Tart, very good moving bitch & really covers the ground, very good in outline, enough neck, good topline & tail, super texture coat;

3 Campbell’s Nordalset Mad About You.
