NORFOLK DARLINGTON 14 Judge: Mr P Eardley BEST OF BREED : 1247 THOMPSON-MORGAN Mrs C S Ch Belleville Seduction NORFOLK JUDGE DARLINGTON 14 Norfolk Terriers I really enjoyed the Norfolks & felt that it was a quality entry with keen competition for the high awards in both sexes. There were also several promising youngsters on show. Overall I feel the breed is in good shape. Thank you to my two super efficient stewards who kept things moving effortlessly. VD (0). MPD (1) 1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Scintillation, such a raw baby at just 6 months old. Handled well on the table with good straight front legs & nice front assembly with elbows well in. Could not get the hang of moving although this was much improved in the challenge when he had others to interest him. PD (3) Quality class with all three having much to commend them & each one is promising. 1 Jenkins’ Krisma Flashback to Kinsridge, cracking head on this boy with a lovely skull & the correct head proportions. Lovely mouth. Examined well on the table & on the floor he demonstrated a great outline on the move with decent reach & drive & scored particularly well in rear movement. Front still needs to tighten a little but is a quality boy 2 Phillips’ Blakens Pay Back, this one was full of himself. Lovely headed boy & is a lovely type of Norfolk. Good proportions & good straight front. Not quite the reach & drive of the winner which was the deciding factor; 3 Atkinson’s Blakens I Look To You. JD (0). PGD (2) 1 Atkinson’s Blakens Sugar Candy Dips, my notes said ‘good show boy’. Has good animation & moved well. Typical head; 2 Hilditch’s Watercroft Royal Mail, nice sort, good coated dog. Handled well on the table but was a bit distracted on the floor which made it a little easier for the competition. LD (3,1a) 1 Gee’s Watercroft In A Pickle, this one caught my eye as soon as he came in. Typy dog, lovely outline, well presented & handled, nice proportions & OK up & back. He is knocking on the door; 2 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Quids In, close up to winner. Shows well & good in profile movement. Another from this kennel with a decent skull. OD (3) Lovely class with three decent dogs in it & each had something to commend it. 1 Thompson-Morgan’s Ch Belleville Seduction, mature boy who is at the top of his game. Has plenty of substance but is not in any way heavy or cloddy. Masculine all through, lovely headed boy, great neck & shoulders & lovely angulation in the rear. On the ground he just comes into his own, absolutely super profile movement with great reach & drive & a rock solid topline. Has wonderful rear movement. Well presented & well handled as he is a bit of a handful which is typical Norfolk really. Easy to see why he has done so well. CC, BOB & shortlisted in the group; 2 Phillips’ Blakens The Kandy Man Kan, very appealing type of Norfolk, ultra short, good head, beautiful coat & really well presented. Great topline. A well deserved RCC but just could not match the winner on movement; 3 Newton’s Strathinver Smart Enough. VB (1) 1 Atkinson’s Ch Hobsons Choice at Moortop, remarkably this lady is 12 years old. Great body & condition for her age, lovely coat & still striding out well. A super veteran. MPB (2) 1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Constellation, real baby, good proportions & a touch steadier which won her the class. Very promising; 2 Newton’s Strathinver Rosegold, another raw baby. The difference in Norfolk puppies between the age of 6 months & 8-9 months is very noticeable. She has the makings of a good head & a lovely tail set. Needs plenty of time & practice. PB (4,1) 1 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Top Tip, excellent type, good proportions & really good rear angulation. Excellent show temperament & just stands right. Has a really good skull but the head is still feminine. I liked her animation & her movement. Good front on her as well. I liked the overall package & seriously considered her for the CC. RCC & BP; 2 Gee’s Watercroft Top Tipple, this kennel is producing a really good type of Norfolk & this one is no exception. Good proportions, nice & short & is sound on the move. Not quite as showy as the winner which was the deciding factor really; 3 Stevenson’s Brickin Tidy Affair. JB (2,1) 1 Hurrion’s Villassa Star Turn, on her own & could have coped with some competition. She presents a lovely picture & is beautifully turned out with a good topline. A touch close behind. PGB (3) A. LB (3,1) 1 Gee’s Watercroft Top Tia, similar in type to the other exhibits from this kennel, beautifully presented, showed well, good outline, OK in head & OK on the move. Will always be there or thereabouts; 2 Broom’s Roxway Fable, older fashioned type with a hard jacket but of course not the furnishings of some of the others. Certainly looks like she could do a day’s work. OB (3) Quality class & all three were CC quality. 1 Phillips’ Ch Blakens Sugar Candy Kisses, lovely typy girl who just looks great when posed. Feminine head, good straight front, good topline & lovely tailset. Great jacket which was beautifully presented. A very worth champion & I was pleased to add to her tally; 2 Thompson-Morgan’s Ch Belleville Just Magic, very similar in overall look & type to the BOB winner with the same lovely profile action which just eats up the ground. Was a little unsettled which gave the winner the edge but is a super Norfolk; 3 Smith’s Javidel Definitely Maybe. P EARDLEY |
