NORFOLK CRUFTS 25 I was looking for a small compact strong terrier, showing substance in body, who looked able to work, with a tail as straight as possible carried up high, but not excessively gay. What I was surprised to find was many had fat, dumpy bodies with extremely light bone, and tails much too far over the back. I realise the days of the majority of terriers being able to do their original work has disappeared, but we are still bound by our standards requirements. On the plus side, temperaments were fabulous, coats impeccably turned out, and most every dog showed beautifully. 1 Ralph of House Nash at Raphiggy ShCEx VW (Nash) B Veteran Near 10 year old in wonderful form. Perfect teeth, sound moving, liked his strong head and keen expression. Super tail, and dead precise moving. I bet he was a real star a few years ago! PD (4) 1 Watercroft Easy Tiger (Mrs R Gee) Super pup, unfortunately has a poor tail set & it is carried too far over the back. Otherwise a real cracker. I liked his head, pigment, soundly made front & rear. Short level back & in super coat. 2 Javidel Repeat If I May (Smith) Pleasing for type & size. Tail carried too far over the back, & coat rather soft & in-between on the day. Super temperament, moved out with some purpose, & has good angulation both ends. 3 Belleville High Society for Dalticino (Finch & Bonner) JD (6) 1 Tinkave in The Groove with Belleville (Pont) R CC Active & free moving, he looks able to work, & has a decent length of leg. Liked his head. Good tight feet, Excellent tail, & enough rear angulation. 2 Javidel Repeat If I May (Smith) 3 Watercroft Corners Up at Tyketarn (Mckevitt) PGD (5) 1 Littlemount Celyn Y Mor (Ward) Front movement a bit iffy, but looks OK from the side, and he does have super hindquarters. Nice head & expression. Excellent coat, well ribbed back, good bone & tidy feet. Reasonable tail set. 2 Earthtaw Owain The Celt at Raphiggy JW (Nash) A good dog, of ideal size, & he has a decent length of leg. Compact body, neat ears. needs more angulation front & rear, as he short steps. In good jacket. 3 Watercroft Pickled Pudding (Clarke) LD (7) 1 Jacquidon Rich Tea (Harrison) CC Can fly his ears somewhat, but this true terrier is active, sound, with a level back, nicely ribbed, good tail set and carriage, not fat but has substance. Showed & moved spot on. Pleased to award him the CC. 2 Jaeva Strut Your Stuff (Wren) Great coat, cobby & compact. Good tail set, but carried to far over back. Stands on good legs & feet. level firm backline. Moved Ok. 3 Javidel May You Never (Smith) OD (4) 1 Ch Kinsridge Cash Point (Jenkins) Compact, short firm back. Reasonable front, good behind, and moved out with a nice stride in profile. Excellent pigment & jacket, tail not too badly set but carried too far over back. 2 Ch Belleville Playmate (Thompson-Morgan) Moving in fits & starts. Nice outline & proportions standing. Squirrel tail. Pleasing head & ear carriage. Shows Ok but could move out with more freedom. 3 Ch Watercroft Tiger Feet JW (Gee) Good Citizen (Dog) (2) 1 Jaeva Strut Your Stuff (Wren) 2 Watercroft Brown Boots (Powell) Shoulders a little too upright & feet could be better. Great personality, and showed his heart out. VB (2) 1 Nordalset Warm and Fuzzy (Philip) Two lovely oldies, in super condition. The winner striding out nicely, holding her outline well. Deep chest, enough length of neck for the breed. Carries herself with some importance! Level bite 2 Ivrig Dancing in The Sun (Macartney) Flies her ears somewhat,& she is a wee bit longer in body that above. Also in lovely condition, and presented so well. PB (5) 1 Watercroft Making Waves (Gee) B Puppy Cracking puppy, with excellent bone for her size, as so many were light in bone for a working terrier. Very good proportions, moved true, liked her head and strength of muzzle for a bitch. Well set & carried tail. A promising, future star. 2 Villassa Quest for A Kiss (Hurrion) Cast in a slightly bigger mould but also admired her head & well set oval eyes. Fair front, enough rear angulation, can still tone up further 3 Belleville Sky Full of Stars (Thompson-Morgan) JB (3) 1 Belleville Firestar (Thompson-Morgan) What a beauty! Shows like a veteran, stands on good legs & feet. Nicely put together both ends, perfect tail carriage. Adored her head and muzzle, super expression, which was so keen and sparkling. True mover. 2 Littlemount Lili (Ward) Different type maybe, I thought her a good working terrier in conformation and movement. Not perhaps in such good coat on the day, but I thought her extremely promising. 3 Jaeva On The Run TAF (Tate & Wren) PGB (10) 1 Watercroft Maybellene at Tamodan (Mullan) A nice class, winner stood out from the start for me. Holds a lovely outline standing & moving, short coupled. Excellent body depth, well set tail. Looked a real picture in the ring. Good substance without being fat. 2 Belleville Counting Stars (Thompson-Morgan) A lovely baby who is just looking a little off balance at the moment for height to length ratios.. Expect she will right herself as she gets more mature. as she is still very young. Neat moving, happy character & enjoying herself. 3 Macdiarmada Alderfen (Mcdermott) LB (6) 1 Kinsridge Takes The Biscuit (Jenkins) R CC Smart, compact, with a pleasing head & eyes . fairly strong muzzle, OK in front, I thought she could do with a little more rear angulation, when going over her. Up & back she is true moving. A good bitch to have in a kennel, for the future. Excellent quality Norfolk all through. 2 Watercroft Nora Batty (Gee) A touch bossy in front, neat rear. When she relaxed she went round Ok. Standing looked a real picture of good type. In perfect coat too. 3 Silverlily of Housenash at Raphiggy (Nash) OB (5) 1 Naomi Kim Campbell Della Silfa (Zabai) CC BOB Good for size and she is feminine yet still strong. Pleased me for conformation, Shows her heart out. Excellent front & forechest, enough length of neck for the breed. Level firm back, neat impressive rear. Would like tighter feet otherwise a real terrier, fitting the standard to a T. 2 Ch Belleville Hope Star (Thompson-Morgan) better in feet, but has the curse of the breed, in a tail nearly touching the back. Maybe a little more rear angulation would improve, but liked her front, and she went well in profile. 3 Ch Watercroft Back in A Jiffy (Gee) Good Citizen (Bitch) (1) 1 Ivrig Dancing in The Sun (Macartney) |
