NORFOLK JUDGE CITY OF BIRMNGHAM 10

Norfolk Terriers

Apologies for the lateness of this report due to many commitments. I have followed Norfolk Terriers for almost four decades & have had the privilege of judging the breed worldwide. I was delighted with my winners which represented the type of Norfolk I was looking for. Overall, however, I found many of the exhibits long in back, on the big side & the usual problem with long snipey forefaces was regretfully prevalent also here. I really enjoyed my day judging Norfolks.

PD (5,1a)

1 Stevenson’s Brickin Better Be Good, showy, very mature & excelling in freedom of movement, typical head, very good eye, excellent body, harsh coat, presented in good order;

2 Mounfield’s Arderry Sky Rocket, short backed & of excellent type, very good head & expression, sound front. Would like a little more positive behind, was not moving well;

3 Philip’s Nordalset Look Out For Me.

JD (4)

1 Atkinson’s Wharfvalley Diamond Bright at Moortop, masculine, strongly made, lovely type, glorious head & eye, excellent well carried ears, big ribs, harsh coat, sound legs & feet, moved well. Perhaps bit short of neck. Well presented;

2 Hess & Higgins’ Umbrage Ironstone, also very masculine & well constructed, pleasing head. Rather large in eye & a little long in back. Harsh coat on the blow. Very assertive showman;

3 Green’s Wharfvalley Diamond Star.

PGD (1) A.

LD (3,1)

1 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Top Gun, top quality, of enviable make & shape, good head, excellent legs & feet, good bone, short back, level top, very good tail, harsh coat in first class order, exuded quality, reminded me in many ways of the many beautiful Nanfans of the past - I cannot think of a greater compliment! CC & BOB;

2 Philip’s Jaeva Well I’ll Be Darned at Nordalset, short backed gassy b/t with very good body, typical head, good eye, excellent coat texture. Little wide in front & would like more strength of muzzle. Happy showman.

OD (6)

1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Angello, beautifully balanced dog of quality & style, very good neck & shoulders, excellent body properties, sound rear, short back, in good coat & condition, pleasing head. Muzzle could be stronger. Showed really well & moved freely. RCC;

2 Smith’s Javidel Come What May, sturdy, very masculine. Little longer in back than 1. Typical head. Round in eye & tail detracts a little from overall appearance. Moved well, in good coat & condition, very sound. Lacked panache of 1;

3 Stevenson’s Ch Penmire Wild Bramble by Brickin.

GCD (1) A.

VB (1)

1 Hess & Higgins’ Tomomayo Tiger Bright at Umbrage, strongly made, excellent conformation, good front, neck & shoulders, excellent body, sound rear, typical head & expression, very good tail, moved well. Seemed to enjoy her day out in her underwear.

PB (6,2)

1 Bettesworth’s Kapitada Free Spirit, very pretty, right make & shape, moving & showing with style, very good front, excellent body & outline, sound rear, good coat. Head needs to develop & ears rather unsettled. Happy showgirl;

2 Mcphee’s Foxhouse Flashdance, great deal bigger than 1. Soundly constructed, very good head & eye. Would like more neck & shorter back. Excellent coat, moved OK & showed with enthusiasm;

3 List’s Nicnips Anya.

JB (7,2)

1 Britten’s Kinsridge Maid In Manhattan for Krisma, lovely youngster of beautiful type, perfectly balanced with correct length of leg & shortness of back, very good neck & shoulders, excellent body, perfect coat & condition, sound behind & showed with aplomb. Feminine head still needs a little time to reach its full potential. Liked her very much, must have a bright future. RCC;

2 Phillips’ Blakens Toffee Kisses, very attractive b/t, lovely head & expression, good body. Shade stuffy in neck & shoulders, tail could be better. In excellent condition & moved well;

3 Hurrion’s Villassa Top Totty.

PGB (3,1)

1 Phillips’ Vision Express at Blakens, very correct, hard to fault on the table with all the essentials, sound, good head & body, harsh, very pale coat colour, really good tail, showed well, pressed hard in challenge;

2 Howard’s Hatchwoods Flamenco, sturdy, excellent type, typical with sound legs & feet, good spring of ribs, feminine head & good eye. Little long in back & in heavy condition. Moved well.

LB (9,5)

1 Phillips’ Blakens Party Popper, quality, handles well, real terrier expression with dark eye & good head, sound front, level top, very assertive showlady, also pressed hard in the challenge. Could perhaps be a little better in shoulders & run in of neck. Never gave up showing;

2 Cooper’s Settrenda Saucy Sox, stylish with lovely head & eye, good body & outline, sound. Rather short of coat & tail detracts from overall impression. Happy temperament;

3 Hess & Higgins’ Kapitada Fireopal at Umbrage.

OB (5,1)

1 Matell’s Cracknor Custom Made, hard coated, in full bloom with ideal proportions, good neck & shoulders, short level back, perfect tail carried well, good legs & feet, shows sensibly, feminine head, sensible steady shower, very much the type of Norfolk I was looking for. CC;

2 Mountfield & Tate’s Settrenda Sauce Pot with Jaeva, assertive lively showgirl moving with great ease, typical head, good eye, sound legs & feet. Level back could be a little shorter. Not in perfect coat. Sound rear, easy fluid mover;

3 Hurrion’s Valentines Cherry Crumble.
