Norfolk Terriers

PD (3)

1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Black Lace, 10 months b/t, most mature in the class overall, head developing nicely for age, good mouth. Would have preferred a little more length in rib. In good jacket, moved quite well;

2 Philip’s Nordalset Back In A Jiffy, a bit longer cast in body than 1, head still has some developing to do. Nice eye, moved quite well but a touch wider coming than 1;

3 Smith’s Javidel Come What May.

JD (2) A.

PGD (4)

1 Philip’s Hey Smart Lookin at Nordalset, well put together red dog, mature, reasonably proportioned head, good mouth, good length of neck flowing into a well angulated shoulder, pleasing ribs, in good jacket, alert & showy;

2 Dorkins’ Lowmita Sweet William, a dog I have admired from the ringside but definitely not in a co-operative mood with his handler. Lovely head with good ears, eye & mouth, well made throughout but would not concentrate on showing. Coat a bit past its best;

3 Simpson’s Megalex Measure Twice.

LD (2)

1 Thompson-Morgan’s Kapitada Dandylion at Belleville, mature red dog, nice head but ears a touch large. Well constructed body, pleasing length of neck into good shoulder, very well made in front, good topline, tail set & carriage, went round the ring fairly well if a bit erratic at times;

2 Stevenson’s Brickin I Told You So, red dog about 6 months younger than 1 & less mature. Not quite so well made generally as 1. Rather erratic on the move.

OD (5)

1 Phillips, Gullick & Nieminen’s Fin Ch Heilurihannan From Me To You, the first three in this class presented me with some difficult decisions, all three fitted the Standard very well but were from different strains. 1 was well made throughout, an honest dog in excellent workman-like jacket but by no means glamorous, keen dark eye, every inch a terrier, plenty of spirit & showing well. CC;

2 Jenkins’ Ch Kinsridge Top Dollar, a lovely red dog all through, in good coat put down to perfection, alert & responsive to his handler. Just felt he lacked a touch in the alertness of expression of 1. RCC;

3 Green’s Wharfvalley Kir Royale.

PB (5,2)

1 Jenkins’ Little Red Head at Kinsridge, the most mature here, well developed in body at 8 months, good length of rib, short coupled, attractive well proportioned head, good earset, alert & responsive, good profile on the move with good topline & tail. BP;

2 Johnson’s Lowmita Fairy Flax, roughly the same age as 1, less mature but quite promising at this stage of development, good head proportions with attractive feminine expression, good ear carriage, well constructed in body, moved well in quarters, alert shower;

3 Harpham & Hulance’s Diggery Sail The Wave.

JB (4)

1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Intuition, liked for maturity & general finish, in lovely coat, well made in head, good earset, dark eye. Would have preferred a bit more length in rib but moved quite well, alert;

2 Hurrion’s Valentines Cherry Crumble, nicely proportioned head, good in ear, alert expression, good mouth, moved & showed well. Condition of coat really detracted from overall picture but I forgave that as she was well made underneath;

3 Stevenson’s Brickin Skip Away.

PGB (11,4)

1 Atkinson’s Moortop Mary’s Choice, headed a very mixed class of different types, coat condition, sizes & some far too heavy. Liked 1 for general balance, well made in body without being fat, in good coat, attractive head, correct eye, good angulation, moving well;

2 Green’s Wharfvalley Amber Nectar, close up very nice head with attractive feminine expression, showed her qualities off well when standing, in reasonable jacket, good tailset & carriage, moved quite well, alert & interested in everything going on around but it did not distract her from the job in hand;

3 Swiney’s Mstease May West.

LB (8,3)

1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Silk Petticoat, another very mixed class to assess, 1 really took my eye as she entered the ring, lovely red bitch of correct size, head proportions quite good, correct neck into well placed shoulders, good in front, excellent body proportions & well angulated, correct in topline with good tailset & carriage, alert & showy, moving well. CC & BOB. I was not surprised to be told later that it made her up;

2 Claydon’s Brymarden Copper Kettle, another lovely red bitch, really splitting hairs here, lovely head proportions & typical expression, dark eye, quite pleasing in front. Just a touch longer overall in profile in comparison to the compact outline of 1. Correctly harsh in coat, very good tailset & carriage, moved & showed well. RCC;

3 Dorkins’ Lowmita Lily Of The Valley.

OB (1)

1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Lucky Dice, typical red bitch with lovely front, good length of neck & well placed shoulder. Would have liked more development in head. Nice eye, well angulated & presented beautifully in good jacket, showed well but just felt she lacked some of the overall quality & personality of her kennelmate in the final challenge.
