MANCHESTER WELSH KENNEL CLUB 09 Judge: Mr R Wright MANCHESTER JUDGE WELSH KC 09 Manchester Terriers A fabulous entry of 43, pleasure to judging this lovely breed which I have followed & studied since befriending the late George Candling 35+ years ago. MPD (2) Both with promise & both up to size. 1 Clifton’s Gloryline Henry The Seventh, pleasing head & properties, excellent layback, rib & topline, A1 stifle, moved & showed, sound; 2 Forshaw’s Janzins Rock Star, close up & a nice sort, A1 front & forehand, good rib & muscletone. Unsettled but sound. PD (2) 1 Creber & Beardow’s Talanors Hellova Treat for Sipowitz, excellent, balanced type, lovely masculine head, excellent overall forehand, good rib, body & turn of stifle, well muscled throughout, excellent coat & condition, straight & true showing well. Should have a bright future. BP; 2 J Rock Star. JD (5,1a) 1 Clowes’ Churnet Canzone, nice typical sort of good size, balanced head, excellent forehand & quarters. A bit edgy but true & sound; 2 Brocklebank & Harrison’s Corduroys Icon at Bellbrook, good quality but expression rather spoiled by earset. Sound, in excellent coat & condition; 3 Symington’s Quixol Havoc. PGD (2) 1 Leigh’s Sophyla Sorcerer of Mansiya, high quality with so much to admire, super outline, lovely balance, so well constructed, A1 presentation in hard condition. Moved & showed well but consistently a touch close in hind (left) which decided in the challenge. Should make up. RCC; 2 Symington’s Quixol Havoc, decent sort, pleasing head, good ribbing & topline, promising, sound. LD (4) 1 Holmes’ Egloshayle Black Carlyn, high overall quality but up to size, picture standing, balanced all through with excellent muscletone, coat & condition, sound & true; 2 Jeynes’ Browdel Black Muskateer, close up, very nice type & quality. Would prefer a smaller ear to aid expression. Well muscled & sound; 3 Dale’s Megellan Rumble in Rattustrap. OD (5) 1 Norris’ Ch Brookstream Marcus Banks, quality, masculine sort of good type & balance, well headed with good forehand, ribbing & topline. Quarters could fill a touch to enhance, having judged him before he has a habit of double tracking which I know has nothing to do with construction & could be handled out, it almost cost him the CC, but he did move parallel eventually & deserved the win. CC; 2 O’Neill & Mizen’s Megellan Free Runner, nice sort of good overall quality, excellent temperament, masculine, well boned, excellent front & fore with good quarters. Looks a little stuffy. Sound; 3 Braybrook’s Ch Gloryline Sir Thomas More. MPB (1) 1 Forshaw’s Janzins Star Struck, nice baby with lots of appeal, good expression, clean lines, sound & true. PB (4,2) 1 Palmer’s Egloshayle Tangleberry, decent sort with positives, good forehand & muscletone. Rather spoiled by flying ears, feet turn a touch too much. Sound; 2 De Lavis Trafford’s Kimblewick Tallulah with Tyburn, promising but very frightened & edgy making full assessment very difficult, needs time & training. JB (4) 1 Churms’ Digelsa Dream Maker of Wystry, lovely outline of type, balance & construction, very promising, sound but could settle more to effect; 2 Brown’s Quixol Chaos, nice sort, looking so well standing but very unsettled. Lovely expression, good neck & ribbing, decent quarters, sound but erratic. Has promise; 3 Palmer’s Egloshayle Black Rosewyn. PGB (2,1) 1 Braybrook’s Tudorbrook My Venturess, really liked this one, has so much to appeal, lovely balance, of good type, sound & true. LB (9,1) 1 Knight’s Talanors Tomorrows Dreams, lovely quality, type & balance, feminine with excellent forehand, well ribbed, good body & topline, excellent size, hard condition, good quarters, lovely coat, colour & overall condition, moved & showed well. RCC; 2 Norris’ Brookstream Brooklyn, close up with quality & balance, in lovely coat. A touch heavier than 1 & not so positive in hind but quality nevertheless; 3 Dunford & Akrigg’s Quixol Bret April. OB (2) 1 Oxley’s Ch Digelsa Double Entendre, certainly the best Manchester I have seen for some years, her overall quality in all departments screams out at you, add to that her expression, coat, colour, condition & movement par excellence & you have the finished article. No wonder then that she is knocking at the door of the breed record & picking up hugely deserved accolades. In my opinion she is BOB by some margin & an excellent ambassador for the breed. CC & BOB; 2 Clifton’s Gloryline Tudor Anneboleyn, lovely quality & balance all through. A touch stronger all through & not so positive in hind. ROGER WRIGHT |
