MANCHESTER JUDGE WELKS 16

Manchester Terriers

Thank you for the nice entry & to my two lady stewards who must have been frozen by the end of the day. It was not the best weather for Manchesters with some coping better than others with the cold wind & the intermittent drops of rain.

PD (5)

1 Straughan & Cripp’s Talanors In For A Treat, I was in for a treat with this one. Just 6 months, lovely size, good outline, super tail carriage, steady, the makings of a super head & just asked for it. BP;

2 Freer’s Hawthorn Chap at Felfree, another nice size, lovely tan, not quite the bloom or outline of the winner but very promising.

JD (1)

1 Church’s Rattustrap Charlie Brown, nicely headed dog, in good condition, lovely clear markings, generally quite typy, tucking up a bit in the cold which spoilt his rear.

PGD (1)

1 Adams & Harris’ Eaglespur Prince Charming, tidy sort, just out of junior, persisted on sniffing the ground so not at his most cooperative. Decent size.

LD (2)

1 Walshaw’s Talanors Diamonds N’Dreams avec Janmark, nice sized dog, cracking head & ears, I liked his eye which gave him an alert expression, good temperament & attitude, nice outline & proportions, super profile movement. A quality boy. RCC;

2 Lewis’ Rattustrap Red Admiral, in good condition with a good shine to the coat, a touch weak in rear which pegged him.

OD (4,1a)

1 Carter & Harrison’s Ch Digelsa Declaration, eyecatcher, lovely outline standing & moving, super muscular condition, textbook head & ears, super proportions & defies the opposition when he moves as he is good front, back & from the side. Is at his mature best. CC, BOB & delighted to hear that he placed G4. Well done;

2 Knight’s Ch Westbank Blue Diamond for Talanors, probably the unsung hero of the day as he seems to have sired absolutely every one of my top winners including the puppies. He is stamping his beautiful head, expression & ears on them all along with a really good type. Close up today & just lost out slightly on rear. He is not just a blue diamond, he is an absolute diamond.

PB (3)

1 Oxley’s Digelsa d’Amour, another with cracking head & ears, super eye & she looks at you right. Feminine but workmanlike, in hard condition, good mover, a touch proud of her tail but is clearly one for the upper house;

2 Walker’s Treat Me Good at Sizlin, promising baby, steady for one so young & a nice mover when she settled.

JB (3)

1 Barlow’s Nightfury Bold Venture, won the class on movement as she was the best of the three, held her outline on the move, good proportions & a nice size;

2 Heller’s Limoncello Cecilia Beaux, good outline standing but lost it a little on the move. Not quite the head of the winner but a tidy sort.

PGB (3)

1 N Bold Venture;

2 Sharpe’s Rosettia High Hopes, nice outline, good gloss to her coat, not quite as tidy in ears or as assertive on the move as the winner.

LB (3,1)

1 Cawley’s Marlablue In A Twirl, lovely another cracking head with super ears & eye, good proportions, well muscled, really good on the move, steady & put on a super performance to take the CC. Ultra feminine. To be critical there could be a little more of her but her soundness, outline & correct tail carriage carried the day;

2 Forshaw’s Calastoa’s Lucky Star, 5 years old & in good condition, OK in body, not quite as compact as the winner or as good on the move.

OB (5)

There was a bit of food for thought here.

1 RCC, Symington’s Talanors Secret Treat, the more I looked at her the more I liked her, good for size, another with the super head & ears that clearly come from dad together with the muscletone. I liked her head, outline & tail carriage;

2 Saxton, Dale & Emrick’s Ch Rattustrap Imperial Red, eyecatching & a good type, good on the move & is of real quality. Started to hunch herself a bit towards the end of the class when decisions were being made & that was when the winner really pulled it together.

I should also mention 3rd in this class as she took my eye on first inspection. Just carrying a bit too much weight otherwise could have turned the tables.

PAUL EARDLEY
