MANCHESTER SOUTHERN COUNTIES 15 Judge(s): HOWARD OGDEN Manchester Terriers Mea culpa! I want you to know that I appreciated the fact that you all turned out which means so much to the likes of me, a non-specialist hunting sufficient ‘hands on’ numbers before being considered as a potential CC judge, albeit approved by the AKC & honoured to be judging your toy ‘cousins’ at Crufts 2019. I have always found Manchester breeders, & the club, incredibly approachable & encouraging & I am not so saying to grovel over this late report! I seem to have missed all my critiques from SCCA 2015, now being remedied. PD (1) 1 Walshaw’s Talanors Diamonds N’ Dreams avec Janmark, 6 months, such quality already & beautifully conditioned, correct taper to head, small, dark eye giving keen expression, arched neck, compactly elegant, deep with clean front where he can be less ‘proud’ on the move with maturity, correct body shape, glossy, richly marked jacket, strong rear, moved absolutely true. Surely a future champion who will come to represent the breed well against all breed competition. RBD, BP & puppy group placed. PGD & LD (0). OD (2) 1 Ferguson’s Ch Felfree Rocket, 3 years & in peak, muscular condition, full of breed type, ear carriage a touch ‘open’ but of good shape, wedge shape to head that is well filled, clean front, good depth, strong, well angulated quarters, his structure allows him to make the most of himself on the move to demonstrate both reach & drive. BD & BOB plus group shortlisted; 2 Eva’s Sophyla Sam Brown, 5 years, scored with classic headpiece, good neckline, shapely, deep, strong quarters that should have enabled power on the move but he wasn’t of a mind to sparkle & was also toeing in. PB (2) 1 Shire’s Egloshayle Daisy May, 9 months & well grown, good length to head, dark eye, good angles, front narrow & deep, glossy jacket, well angulated & hence balanced on the move, had the benefit of being more mature; 2 Sharpe’s Rosettia High Hopes, just 6 months & much finer all through, absolutely feminine, good neck, correct body shape, balanced angles allowed free movement, I have my suspicions that her name may prove prophetic as she adds maturity to her typical outline. PGB (2) 1 Young’s Mimbre Monsoon, 19 months, so beautifully feminine & with so many specific breed points, loved the length & taper to her head with sparkling eye, front narrow & deep, slightly curving over loin, just a little straight in rear that limits propulsion, clean coming on, well conditioned, will surely move up in rank; 2 Sharpe’s Rosettia Ruby Reflection, 3 years, good overall head & body type, good shape, deep, angles were balanced but not to a degree to provide reach & drive, came on loose at elbow. LB (2,1a) 1 Peacham’s Felfree A Touch Of Glam for Manrio, 18 months & so exciting, the head was beautiful to handle as it was ‘all of a piece’ so no lumps or bumps to affect the cleanly tapering contour, ideal size, feminine & correctly curving, elegant & sound, what I call ‘all neck & angles’ as she simply awaits maturity to complete the picture & be competing for top honours. RBB. OB (2) 1 Walshaw’s Digelsa Diva avec Janmark, super at 2 years, refined, quality head, correct eye, textbook ear carriage, muscled symmetry in her compact frame, narrow fronted, excellent neckline, slight arch over loin, richly coloured, smooth jacket, balanced angulation enabled her to move freely as well as true, the whole impression was of sporting functionality & keenness. Clearly of CC quality. BB; 2 Leigh & Nonog’s Am/Can Ch Jetcity Cat Woman Sings The Blues to Mansiya, 2 years, rather a ‘doggy’ bitch, stronger headed without the desired narrow skull, similarly too wide through her front, she is short with substance & correctly curved & well muscled up, in good coat & condition, well angulated but still outmoved by the above, lacks the essential ‘elegance’ to throw in to the mix to create a functional ratter.
