MANCHESTER JUDGE SKC 10

Manchester Terriers

I was so proud of the way all dogs were presented. All coats were in tip-top condition, not easy during hot dry weather & teeth were sparkling. Also, it was a pleasure for me to see handlers stood with their dogs rather than crouching down. Apologies to all that the group judging had commenced before the Manchester T judging had been finished. I shall be writing to the SKC about this, but that’s a story for another day.

JD (3)

1 Dunford & Akrigg’s Quixol Alexander, up to size, but in proportion & balanced, quality, sound dog, super head, nice dark eye of correct shape & good ears creating an alert expression, good front, clean shoulder, movement straight & balanced, definitely the best mover of dogs present, handled with confidence, relatively young dog, but was his day & he certainly deserved his honours. CC;

2 Norris’ Brookstream Louis De Blue, quality youngster, just under 7 months, super head, ears used well, good turn of stifle, good topline & tail carriage, very mature for age, moved well for such a young dog. BP;

3 Renshaw’s Talanors Smart Treat with Westbank.

PGD (1)

1 Symington’s Quixol Havoc, nice size, good markings & topline, nice head, ears used well, super tail carriage. Would benefit from a little more road work to help tighten feet. Very nice, moved well.

LD (2)

1 Brander’s Churnet Concerto at Menfreya, solid with excellent front, super head with good shaped eye, ears used & carried well, good reach of neck, nice topline & tail carriage, super overall picture. Movement in the challenge not as good as CC winner. Not helped by all the remains of bait left by five other breeds judged in this ring before Manchester T. RCC;

2 Beardow’s Talanors Hellova Treat for Sipowitz, compact & balanced, nice type, good head, eye & ear carriage, lovely expression. Good reach of neck, but not quite as good as 1. Nice turn of stifle, lovely deep chest. Preferred movement of 1. Good tailset.

OD (2,1a)

1 Pyne’s Newtonian Black Rod, have judged before & my opinion has not changed, very nice, correct size, good markings, super reach of neck, good lay of shoulder, super head with wicked expression. Movement not as good as previously, little stiff on backend when he moved away, but a lot to like.

JB (5,1)

1 Dale & Saxton’s Egloshayle Sea Sprite of Rattrustrap, took my eye as soon as she entered the ring & I was not disappointed, super balanced bitch, good feminine head, eye & ear carriage. Movement a little erratic, but when settled certainly good enough to award RCC at just 6 months. Very promising youngster, good markings, tailset & topline, a lot to like. RCC;

2 Steel’s Brookstream Blue Lady, 7 months, nice size, little bigger than 1. Good head with good ears used well, good reach of neck, nice topline & tail carriage, lovely rich mahogany markings with good thumbprints;

3 Dunford & Akrigg’s Quixol Pandora.

PGB (3,1)

1 Knight’s Talanors Special Treat, good head with lovely set ears, nice shaped eye, good reach of neck, well sloped shoulder, deep chest, good turn of stifle, lovely rich mahogany tan markings;

2 Thurlow’s Brenandi Genteel Gypsy at Erkenwyne, nice size, good markings, nice deep chest, good reach of neck, used ears well, giving good Terrier expression. Tan a little lighter than 1. Nice bitch.

LB (1)

1 Wicker’s Mibre Solitaire, nice bitch, correct size, good straight front, lovely deep chest, correct topline, lovely head, good ears used well. Carrying a little bit too much weight. Super bitch.

OB (1)

1 Knight’s Talanors Tomorrows Dreams, well balanced, elegant, correct size, nice spring of rib, good turn of stifle, nicely marked, scored in head, lovely reach of neck, good eye, giving keen expression, handler always gets best movement from her dogs & this was no exception. CC & BOB. Breeder 1 Knight’s, super team, represented the breed well, every one of them in tip-top condition & alert expression, vital in a Manchester T, not a gay tail to be seen, credit to the breeder.
