MANCHESTER JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 17

Manchester Terriers

I do not go to many shows nowadays so it was a pleasure to judge at National Terrier, the entry was a bit mixed in quality but I had no problem finding excellent examples of the breed for the top awards. The limit & open bitch classes I thought were outstanding, of the five exhibits in open bitch I thought that on a different day in different conditions any of them could have won. It was both difficult & a pleasure to judge.

PD

1 Aspden’s Exdraco Tony Wilson, a promising young dog, well marked,nice ears but need to settle, lovely condition, a lot to like about this young dog;

2 Andrew’s Magpiebank Tarn for Texanger, another nice puppy, markings need to clear & needs to mature a bit but time is on his side.

LD

1 Hebb’s Paucelin Falster, a lovely dog, good size, well marked, good earset & expression, excellent topline & tailset which he held on the move, one of the best movers today, pushed very hard for the CC, I was pleased to award him the RCC;

2 Rowbottom’s Calastoa’s Amber Gambler at Ttombowor, a good dog with good breed points, didn’t show himself to advantage today;

3 Priestman’s Felfree Top Oscar.

OD

1 Harrison’s Magpiebank Ash, a well balanced mature dog, a good wedge shaped head with correct fill under eye giving the correct expression, nice crested neck with well laid back shoulders & straight front giving him that look of quality. He moved very well. He has a bomb proof temperament which is good & must make him a pleasure to live with but a minor criticism is that his laid back attitude can make him appear a bit flat at times in the show ring. He deserved the CC today which I believe made him a very worthy champion;

2 Freer’s Hawthorn Chap at Felfree, this dog is good size, well marked with good breed points, good front & shoulders & moved well;

3 Walshaw’s Talanors Diamonds Dreams avec Janmark.

MPB

1 Greenslade’s Utterbygreen Mint Chocolat, a lovely puppy, ears need to settle & markings need to clear, she is just a baby & looked it today but she is how I would want her at this age, give her time.

PB

1 Saville’s Simjest Back To Black by Dobermation, a very promising puppy, well marked, good size, good eye & expression, good neck going into well laid shoulders & front. Everything is just about right for a 10 month old pup & should have a bright future. BP;

2 Harrison’s Magpiebank Teal, another promising puppy, very close to 1 but not quite as good in front & ears need to settle;

3 Greenslade’s Utterbygreen Mint Chocolat.

JB

1 Marshall’s Talanors Treat Me Special at Japejo, a good size, good markings, needs to stride out a bit more as she was pacing at times;

2 Walker’s Talanors Treat Me Good at Sizlin.

PGB

1 Heller’s Limoncello Cecilia Beaux, moved well, is good for size with a good front, moved well;

2 Boot’s Ttombower Princess Phoebe.

LB

1 Barlow’s Nightfury Bold Venture, this bitch is compact & full of quality, she fits the Standard so well, the best of fronts & shoulder, welled filled in wedge shaped head with good eye topped off with a good set of ears. She did take time to settle on the move & she wasn’t very settled when stood refusing to show off her best points, she did enough to win her class but it did cost her in the challenge. I’m sure she will go on to have a bright future. RCC;

2 Keates’ Simjest Lady Tiana, a bigger size, in profile a very well balanced bitch, classic shape with all the curves in the right places, excellent condition & coat, well marked, she has a correct shaped skull & if she used her ears better it would show this off better;

3 Jones’ Barleydust Fayre Day.

OB

1 Freer’s Ch Mansiya Casting Circles with Felfree, this bitch is so correct in all departments, excellent head & expression, lovely front, shoulder & neck, correct topline with one of the best rearends of the day, well marked with good breed points, she moved very well & showed with the confidence & maturity of her age, this gave her the edge over the youngsters. It was a delight to award her the CC & BOB;

2 Smith’s Ch Simjest Kiara’s Candy Girl;

3 Dunford & Akrigg’s Ch/Dutch Ch Paucelin Armana by Quixol.
