MANCHESTER JUDGE MIDLAD COUNTIES 11

Manchester Terriers

As I haven’t been around the breed ring for two years or so, I would like to bring breeders attention to the Standard.

There was about 50 per cent of my entry with round (Dobermann) feet. This is wrong. Also only one had the correct forechest. There was about 40 per cent with flat or a dip behind the withers toplines & several too long in the loin. Gay tails have come back. This was something that had improved a few years ago. Movement is still a problem.

On the plus side, markings & coat condition was good, teeth good & temperament was good. On handling the Manchester is a free standing breed, it doesn’t need fiddling with & shouldn’t be stacked. Train your dog to stand freely, watch the experienced handlers, they don’t touch their dogs.

PD (4)

1 Charlton’s Digelsa Diamond Geeza at Lizelms, correct shaped head, good dark eyes. Markings need to clear as expected at this age. Clean shoulders, correct angulation, moved OK for a pup;

2 Parker’s Mansiya Magnetic Man, smaller than 1, hope he will grow on a bit with more substance. Good head & eye, nice compact pup, good markings, well angulated, moved OK;

3 Leigh’s Mansiya’s Plan Be.

JD (4)

1 Yates’ Ttombowor Bramhall Baron, strong head, well filled in, nice dark eye, correct markings, round feet, reasonable topline;

2 Olbinson & Kelly’s Pauceline Andoni, different type to 1, better feet, not so well off for bone. Reasonable front, moved OK;

3 Eva’s Sophyla Sam Brown.

PGD (5)

1 P Andoni;

2 Clowe’s Churnet Canzone, smaller dog, correct topline, well marked, good shoulders, correct feet. Not making the most of himself;

3 Geraghty’s Mojero Bowmore.

LD (3)

1 Dale & Saxton’s Rattustrap Black Sheep, good strong dog, well filled head, dark eyes, reasonable front, well angled behind. Let himself down on movement by crabbing.

OD (5)

1 Dunford, Akrigg & Walton’s Quixol Alexander, strong, well muscled dog, well filled head, nice dark eye, well angled, good bone, well up to size, moved the best of all the dogs that day. CC & BOB:

2 Renshaw & Robinson’s Talanors Smart Treat with Westbank, well built dog, well off for bone, good head & eye, round feet, moved quite well but not as freely as 1. RCC;

3 Goodwin’s Digelsa Dionysis.

PB (3)

1 Cawley’s Digelsa Dancing With Darla, sweet bitch, correct head & eye, more compact than 2, good markings, moved well for a pup. Beat litter brother for BP;

2 Oxley’s Digelsa De Ja Vu, bigger pup than 1. Well marked, good head & ear carriage, longer in back than 1. I hope when she drops in chest this will improve overall shape. Very showy, moved quite well, well handled;

3 Wicker’s Mimbre Cadenza.

JB (3)

1 Harrison’s Sophyla Sophie, nice sized bitch, good topline, well marked, good slope to shoulders, moved well;

2 Knight’s Talanors Taylor Made Treat, nice bitch, longer backed than 1. Good markings, strong head, good eyes & moved quite well;

3 Dunford & Akrigg’s Paucelin Armarna by Quixol.

PGB (4)

1 Leigh’s Calaston English Rose to Mansiya, lovely bitch, carrying too much weight. Very good bone, correct shoulders, well angulated behind, not too long in back, good head. Pushed hard for RCC;

2 Hammett’s Digelsa Double Take for Bryedal, different type than 1, not so well off for bone. Well marked, correct feet, moved well;

3 Braybrook’s Tudorbrook New Approach.

LB (3)

1 Dale & Saxton’s Egloshayle Sea Sprite, nice sized bitch, good bone & markings, well filled head. Looks good standing but has slight dip behind withers. Movement wasn’t very good, paddling badly in front.

OB (5)

1 Knight’s Talanors Tomorrows Dreams, good sized bitch, strong bone, nice wedged head, good slope to shoulders, correct topline. Tan fading quite a bit as on 2. Moved well. CC;

2 Dunford & Akrigg’s Quixol Pandora, similar type to 1. Good wedged head, dark eye, well angulated all round. Didn’t move quite as well as 1. RCC.
