MANCHESTER JUDGE BLACKPOOL 23

Many thanks to the committee for kindly inviting me to judge and to the exhibitors for entering their dogs, it was a small but quality entry and I thoroughly enjoyed my judging. It was at Blackpool as back in 1985 where I won my very first CC and it seems like this year is the last time Manchesters will have CC’s on offer there.
One point I would like to bring to the exhibitors attention is that I was surprised to see so many dogs with green and yellow tartar at the top of their canines, besides being a beauty show, teeth are an important part of a dogs anatomy not just for function or good looks when showing, but for their general health too.

1ST Talanors Typically Trouble for Essvana NAF TAF (Mrs V & Mr H Williams-Wegmann & Wegmann) – A lovely puppy in the making, he is quite well off for bone and substance and is now at the awkward teenager stage where his legs need to catch up with his body, which makes him look a touch long in back at the moment. He has a super head, good wedge shape, dark almond eye and lovely ears, very good straight front and well angulated rear, lovely deep tan and markings. Needs to settle down more on the move but did improved as he got going.

2ND Ruffagga I'm The Man (Mrs O'boyle) – Just 8 months and also at that awkward stage, this puppy is looking quite gangly at the moment, he was a touch nervous and would benefit from some ring craft training. He has a lovely head shape, a decent wedge looking from both front and side, he could have used his ears better as they were hanging by his cheeks, has enough bone, just needs to body up and mature, movement was a little uncoordinated at first but improved as he settled.

Junior Dog

1ST Eaglespur Dutch Showman (Mrs L Broadhurst) – A quality youngster who is maturing very nicely, he has a super head, dark almond shaped eye, excellent ears for size and he held them perfectly, has a good length of neck into well placed shoulders, super straight front with good depth of chest, correct topline and tail set, moved very slightly wide coming towards which should tighten up as he matures, has a good turn of stifle and moved around the ring covering the ground well. Best Junior – He came under me in the junior group and showed even better than he did in the breed and I was pleased to award him JG4.

1ST X-Pected Dine Mites Doc Holiday at Holtaire (Imp Nor) (Mr A & Mrs J A Goodwin) – A super 2 year old starting to come into his own, excellent for size and all in proportion, he has a beautiful outline when viewed from the side, very good head with the correct wedge shape front and side views, dark almond eye, good bite and super clean teeth, his ears are well set but could have used them more to advantage, has that lovely crest of neck into well laid shoulders, chest well sprung and down to his elbows with complementing tuck up, I liked his topline showing a slight rise over the loin flowing curves into a super tail set, good rear angulation which he used to drive him round the ring. Very promising and handled to advantage.

2ND Ysabelkid Dusty Fog TAF (Mrs E Bunning) – All male with plenty of bone and substance, a top sized 2 year old who has everything in proportion. I liked his strong masculine head, his eye is of good shape but slightly lighter than preferred, his ears are set on well, has a lovely outline with ample chest and good tuck up, very good rear angulation. Well handled and moved steadily round the ring moving freely in profile and rear, although coming towards he was pinning on his front right leg.

1ST Megellan Artemis Argentis (Mrs B O'neill) – Heading a very good quality open class of mature males who were all in tip top shape and condition, a super class to judge. This dog is an excellent specimen of the breed, he came into the ring on his toes and showing his all, he has a strong masculine head of good length, has a super ear set and he used them all the time, has an excellent mouth which is powerful and also has plenty of under jaw, his front is a straight, just showing some fore chest with plenty of depth and heart room, strong elegant neck with correct crest into well angulated shoulders, very good topline and rise correctly over the loin, he is a little proud of his tail which is set on correctly, in tip top hard condition he moved freely in front with good drive from behind. Pleased to award him CC and BOB.

2ND Ch Talanors Time for Magic (Mrs D Barlow) – Another excellent specimen who was so easy to go over and fits the standard to a tee. A real Terrier throughout, in hard condition and super coat, very good for size, he has an excellent head, eye and ears which are small, v shaped and were up on top and used to advantage, straight front looking from both the front and side profile, has a good length of neck, well laid shoulders and correct rise over the loin, he moved with purpose around the ring covering the ground well. A very close decision in this class and pleased to award him the res CC.

3RD Ch Talanors Typically Elite (Mr C & Mrs G Knight)

1ST Talanors in for A Treat (Mrs C & Mr D Straughan & Cripps) – Looking on top form at 7 1/2 years young, good for size, a masculine dog with good bone and substance, lovely head and eye but wasn’t using his ears, would prefer slightly more length of neck, has well sprung ribs with a complementing depth of chest and tuck up, correct topline and tail set and enough rear angulation. He has excellent colour and markings for his age and moved steadily around the ring in each direction. Best veteran

2ND Paucelin Falster JW (Mr D & Mrs A Hebb) – A slightly taller male who looks amazing for his age, he has a super profile, excellent head, eye and ears which are carried up on top, lovely front showing some forechest, he has the correct topline and tail set. He moves like a dream in profile, rear movement was good however he was pinning slightly in front which cost him today.

Puppy Bitch

1ST Spring Wren at Plantocracy (Mrs L J Plant) – Two puppies which were difficult to separate in this class. Both well grown but still quite immature, which you would expect at this age. She has lovely flowing curves from nose to tail, liked her head shape, spoiled slightly by not using her ears, lovely long neck, correct topline and tail set, she has quite a deep chest for one so young and lovely tuck up, very good turn of stifle which gave her drive and won her the class. Super deep tan and clear markings. Best puppy.

2ND Holtaire Runa (Mrs H Entwistle) – Slightly more mature than 1 and starting to body up, she is very compact with elegance, correct wedge shaped head, small almond eye, clean teeth with good bite, scores highly in neck and shoulder placement, forelegs are straight and set well under her body, she shows some forechest at this young age, pleasing topline and tailset, she moved well around the ring, however she just needs to tighten up a little in front movement.

Yearling Bitch

1ST Kentwone Lyra at Janmark JW (Mr M & Mrs J Walshaw) – A quality bitch of 18 months coming in to maturity, excellent head with a lovely feminine expression and correct wedge shape from front and side views, she has a sparkling small dark almond eye, ears well set and of good size and shape, enough length of neck into excellent shoulder placement, well sprung ribs with very good depth of chest, flowing topline with slight rise over the loin, her tail continues to flow and is of correct length. She has a very good rear assembly, moves with a true and positive action both coming to and going away. Pleased to award he the res CC.

2ND Rosettia Keepsake JW (Mrs V & Miss L Sharpe) - She is a lovely bitch and is really maturing well. She is up to size, has a lovely outline, is all in proportion and has elegance too. Lovely head and eye, ears are a touch large and carried quite high, excellent dentition, her lines just flow, lovely topline and tailset, deep chest and complementary tuck up. Correct rich mahogany colour, markings are a touch heavy but should clear as she further matures, sorry to say she didn’t want to move correctly on the day.

1ST Magicus Silvestris Sweet Bonnie at Megellan (Imp Nor) (Mrs B O'neill) – A bitch of 22 months which fits the standard quite well, she is compact and has substance whilst retaining the elegance, good head shape, strong muzzle and under jaw, liked her eye shape although eyes a touch on the light side, impressive front assembly, showing some forechest, front legs set on well under, correct topline and rise over the loin, short tail, set on just right and carried well on the move, moved freely with drive from behind.

2ND Talanors Typically Magic (Mrs M E Gouldsborough) – An eye catching bitch, she has an excellent head, small sparkling almond shaped eyes with small well set ears, which give her a lovely expression. Super straight front, long neck with correct crest into well laid shoulders, flowing topline and tailset, she looked lovely in profile, good depth of chest and tuck up. Unfortunately she was playing her handler up today by hopping and skipping around the ring.

1ST Ch Talanors Typically Special (Mr C & Mrs G Knight) - A super quality bitch right out of the top drawer, nothing exaggerated, she fits the standard perfectly. Feminine through and through, she has a lovely head with small dark sparkling eye, small v shaped ears, her body is compact and has elegance, good length of neck into well placed shoulders, perfect topline showing the correct rise over the loin finishing with a lovely tailset. She moves so freely and with ease. Well deserved CC.

2ND Jandor Moonlight Melody (Mr P D & Mrs J M Forshaw) – Another quality bitch in this strong line up. I would prefer a little more of her, but she is correctly in proportion and a real show girl. Very feminine head, excellent eye shape and colour giving such a sweet expression, she has a super straight front when looking from front and side, has a good length of neck into well angulated shoulders, flowing topline with slight rise over the loin, continuing to her tail well which is fairly short and set well on. Moved freely and covered the ground well.
