LAKELAND LEEDS 09 Judge: Mrs Wendy Bower LAKELAND JUDGE LEEDS 09 Lakeland Terriers I enjoyed this appointment. There were some very nice classes of quality bitches with few absentees, which was pleasing. The overall standard of presentation & handling was good. Teeth should be even with perfect regular scissor bite – a couple of mouths did not quite match this criteria. There were also a few atypical heads & ears. The Standard requires a well balanced head with broad muzzle & powerful jaws, some heads were weak from the stop to the nose. Ears, which should be moderately small, were in some instances too large & set too low, which detracts from the required alert expression. PD (3,1a) 1 Vickers & Punter’s Eskwyre Back In The Red, very smart balanced red that certainly knows how to show himself, lovely reach of neck, correct shoulder placement, straight front, strong quarters with tail well set on, in excellent coat & beautifully presented, must have a good future. BP; 2 Kerrigan & Leadbeater’s Leadstaffs Sensation, 9 months & very much at the legs & wings stage, balanced head with reasonable expression. Moved true in front but converging slightly in rear movement, needs to mature & does not need to grow on. JD (2,1) 1 Maughan’s Brocolitia Red Copper, balanced red of nice size, fair expression, good reach of neck & well laid shoulders, tail well set on, in reasonable coat, moved OK. PGD (0). LD (1) 1 Oregill Hot Shot, true b/t with one of the best coats, well balanced with good bone, moved true with drive. OD (5) 1 Averis & Barker’s Saredon Flashback, smart grizzle, in lovely condition, well presented with correct temperament, balanced & compact, strong body & quarters with tail well set on, good reach of neck, straight front, showed & moved well. CC; 2 Johnston’s Ch Louieville Red Prince, correct size & beautifully balanced, strong hindquarters, good set-on, in good condition. Not as settled as 1. RCC; 3 Anderson’s Corrievackie Garnet. PB (2,1) 1 Dunn’s Kilvermin Keilah, just 6 months & very much a baby, excellent jacket & pleasing overall balance. Needs to settle on the move & learn how to show. JB (6) Three nice bitches. 1 Connell’s Sonorra Molly Malone, smart b/t, compact & balanced with good reach of neck, straight front, excellent coat & overall condition. Would prefer a slightly smaller eye. Moved with drive & a great show girl. RCC; 2 Davani’s Nujax Under The Influence at Kebulak, promising bitch who showed very well, good overall balance & bone, strong hindquarters used to advantage, tail well set on. Coat not at its best; 3 Walker’s Kilmarth Andromeda. PGB (4) 1 McCallum’s Glentops Butterfly Kisses, very typical, compact & balanced, nice feminine head & well placed ears giving pleasing expression, moved & showed OK; 2 Anderson’s Corrievackie Opal, nicely presented in reasonable coat, good tailset. Ears unsettled which spoilt her expression. LB (6) 1 Vickers & Punter’s Eskwyre A Fine Romance, feminine bitch in first class form, in beautiful condition & with correct coat texture, dark eye & used ears well, good reach of neck going into well laid back shoulders, strong compact body, tail well set on & carried correctly, moved with purpose. CC, BOB & G3; 2 Connell’s Sonorra Bewitched, smart grizzle of nice size, beautiful head & ears, correct front, good reach of neck & well set on tail, strong hindquarters. Would like to have seen a little more spark in her showing & this let her down when challenging for RCC; 3 Fletcher & Callow’s Nujax Ruby Slippers. OB (2,1) 1 Maughan’s Ir Ch Brocolitia Under Raps, good reach of neck & lay back of shoulder, correct coat, tail well set on, moved OK. WENDY BOWER |
