KERRY BLUE JUDGE CRUFTS 11

May I say what a great honour it was for me to judge Kerry Blues at Crufts, I received the initial invitation from the late Terry Thorn, for that reason alone I will always treasure it. I wish to say a massive thank you to all the Kennel Club staff for the welcome my wife and I received upon our arrival at the Metropole Hotel and the kind and courteous manner we were treat with both at the hotel and at Crufts the next day. I had two of the best ring stewards its possible to have in Celia Vines and David Franks who both kept things moving swiftly and very efficiently, they really did make it very easy for me to concentrate on the classes. Thank you to all who entered their dogs under me making it a very good entry for our beautiful breed.

Overall the quality was good but I felt that bitches were better than dogs which cant be a bad thing when it comes to breeding. Presentation was of a high standard as it has to be these days if you wish to compete successfully with the top exhibitors?

VETERAN DOG NO ENTRIES.

Spec Puppy Dog (3)

1st Carveys Dollagh Intercity Gent, Stylish young dog who moved and showed with confidence, well presented and handled, lovely long lean head with small dark eyes, good tail set which he carries well. one for the future.

2nd Lindsells KebulakJailhouse Rock With Lunabrook. Not quite the style and presence as 1 but maturity can make such a difference, moved and showed well, nicely presented with good head and expression. Would like better pigmentation.

3rd O'Rourkes Kebulak Rockin Robin I assume this is a brother to 2 being very much from the same mould and many of the same comments apply to this boy, typical of the style now being produced by this kennel, Moved and showed with confidence.

Spec Jun D. (5 1a)

1st Davani & Walters Kebulak Born To Tease One I would love to own. Walked in to the ring as if he owned it, turned out to perfection, beautiful long lean head with fantastic expression, good reach of neck short back with a great tail set, moved with well front and back and just showed his head off. RCC

2nd Dollagh Intercity Gent

3rd Munro's Arkama Latin Lover Unfortunately he just refused to show for his handler which is a pity as he is such nice type, beautiful head and ears when he used them. in the final assement he had settled better and looked so well, I am sure there will be better days for this one.

Post Grad D (2 0a)

1st Ramsay's Saredon Rainbow Warrior Long lean head with a wicked expression which is not as common in the breed as it used to be. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders and short back, good tail set, moved and showed well. Well presented and handled as you would expect from this kennel.

2nd Reads Kopykats King Of The Castle Good head, dark eyes, short back with tail set in the right place but I would like to see him use it a little better. Good coat and colour. Needs to use his ears better to show off his expression.

Limit Dog (2 1a)

1st Wilkinson's Granemore Padraig Of Cranmoss Really nice young dog with a great attitude, very good head and expression, dark eyes, good pigment, good coat & colour which was well presented. Moved and showed well.

Open Dog (10 2a)

1st Davani's Kebulak Willie Nelson. Yet another stylish dog from this very strong kennel, entered the ring with complete confidence, moved and showed very well, well handled. Has a beautiful head with ears just a little high but somehow it just seems to give him that very sharp expression. He was beautifully presented although I would prefer just a little less coat with not so much build up on the neck. I found out after judging that he is also the sire of the RCC winner which makes him not just a great show dog but also a great sire which is a combination we all wish for CC

2nd Walters & Davani's Kenmileven First Class For Kamaghan A dog with a lovely head and expression. Probably one of the best coated dogs on the day which was turned out to perfection as usual by the handler. Showed and moved beautifully, well handled. I considered him for the RCC but in the end I just preferred the type of the reserve winner.

3rd Dale & Coopers Kamaghan Ace Lynnsto Another beautiful dog who shows with real fire in his belly, a real handful for his handler who makes a great job of it. Trimmed to perfection, beautiful coat & colour, moves and shows very well when he settles.

Veteran Bitch (3) 1Abs:

1st Dale and Cooper’s Kamaghan Irresistible Lynnsto Fantastic bitch for 8 years old. Beautiful coat and colour, great mover front and back really well presented and handled. Unfortunately didn’t use her ears to best advantage..

2nd Adamson’s Danielle Serena Adabelle Ten year old bitch who I think was just feeling her age today as she just wasn’t happy to be there. However she moves very well front and back and has a lovely coat and colour.. And I thank the owners for bringing these two lovely veterans out.

Special Puppy Bitch (7) 1 abs

1st Forrest and Scott – Locarnaveen Mary Kate Very feminine bitch that showed with confidence for her age, beautiful head and ears which she uses all the time. Moved very well front and back and was well presented and handled to win best puppy in breed.

2nd Walters – Kamaghan Flirt in a Skirt Another nice one from this kennel, very feminine, good coat, very good expression. Good reach of neck and has a short back with a good tail set. Lost out to 1 on movement, but no doubt they can change places on another day.

3rd Marley’s Lansownes Lush Lashesm Another Feminine bitch with great confidence but I fell this confidence needs to be controlled as she was very hard to assess when moving but has very good virtues which will come to the fore when she settles.

Special Junior Bitch (1)

1st Davani’s Kubulak Striptease A real beautiful bitch who catches the eye as she enters the ring, even on her own she showed like a dream. Beautiful long lean head with great expression, reach of neck into good shoulders short back with good tail set. Lovely coat and colour which was very well presented. Just need to pay attention to the trimming around her elbows as she gives the impression of being out in elbow which she definitely is not.

Post Graduate Bitch (9)

1st Quigg’s Saredon Shockwaves at Irisblu Top quality bitch who shows her head off, just at one with her handler beautiful head and expression good reach of neck, short back with a great tail set. Great mover front and back very well presented and handled also she needs now is colour to complete the picture.

2nd Araoz’s Saraoz Delicatessen Another real quality bitch, ultra feminine lovely head ears and dark eyes well balanced throughout lovely coat and colour showed very well and well presented and handled, a very close decision.

3rd Dale and Coopers Gaelgorm Dark Throughts for Lynnsto Good head and ears, dark eyes, very well presented moved ok not the quality of 1 and 2.

Limit Bitch (8)

1 Abs 1st Peacock’s Rimbert Queen Aravis A lovely bitch who was presented to perfection with a beautiful coat and colour, long lean head, dark eyes, moved well front and back and well handled.

2nd Davani’s Kabulak Wheels on Fire Another nice bitch with good head and expression, well balanced throughout, good tail set, moved well front and back would just prefer better quality of coat.

3rd Ford & Mc Murray Arigna Anything Goes At Kanjuley Probably one of the best coated bitches here today super quality of coat. Nice head and ears, moved reasonably well front and back, would just like to see her put more into her showing as it could make all the difference.

Open Bitch (10) 1 Abs

1st Davies’ Ch Perrisblu Kennislain’s Chelsey Have loved this bitch from I seen her when she came to Dublin for the European Show, and she didn’t disappoint me here, She took my breath away when she entered the ring as I have never seen her look better, the most beautiful head and ears, great reach of neck into a short back, great tail set and top class movement front and back. She was also handled to perfection, I was also really proud of her performance in the group. For me she is one of the great ones.. CC and Best of Breed.

2nd Ensell’s Nemiah Born Of An Angel Yet another top drawer bitch with a stunning outline moved to perfection front and back super head and ears, dark eyes, balanced throughout with a great tail set. Presented and handled to perfection and should make her title without any trouble. Reserve CC

3rd Llorens Rodriguez SP/INT CH Dalstar Rihanna by Edbrios Another top quality bitch who was unlucky to meet the first two on the day. Lovely head and ears good reach of neck ultra short back with a good tail set, moves really well front and back never stops showing good coat well presented and handled.
