IRISH DARLINGTON 22 Judge: Mr M Ord IRISH JUDGE DARLINGTON 22 My first time judging the breed at this level & pleased to witness good sportsmanship on my decisions. In general from todays entry I found a large variation in size and several with not such good ear placement. Coats were at all stages of development and several would benefit from more schooling to their advantage. Temperaments with one exception were very good and feet & pads had no concerns. 1 & BP Cooke’s Montelle Follow A Star to Lionwood full of joy & thoroughly enjoying himself, moved well for one so young & showed himself to his advantage, so good to see youngsters enjoying the new experience which bodes well for his promising future, narrow in skull with correct set ears, good pigmentation & strong jaw with good dentition, small dark eyes, widening neck carrying his head proudly, well set shoulders & body fine for his young age, good top & under line, hocks well let down & tail carried correctly, considered for Res C.C. 2 Oliver’s Rufous Gubbeen of Cleeve, slightly finer all through than 1 & needs more time to tighten in front, has a good top line but would like a shade more depth of chest, when front tightens this may improve, firm neck tapering to shoulder, ribs still developing shape & his rear is nice & parallel both on stack & moving, good feet. 1 Bradley’s This Way To Montelle, like this youngster who with time will make the grade, still wants to play & giving his handler the run around today, still quite raw but all is desirable at this stage of his development. Well shaped head, good strong jaw with big teeth, well presented coat of good texture, liked his top & under line when stacked, tail well set & carried, good feet with thick pads. Playing the game on the move so difficult to assess but thoroughly enjoying himself. 1 & Res C.C. Martin’s Griffin Galanthus Gunderic not yet 2 yr old, liked his size overall & height, well balanced all through. Desirable in head shape with big teeth & good bite, has well set shoulder & is correct in leg length & bone, good feet with thick pads, has lovely body shape & particularly good rise over loin, nothing exaggerated about him, good coat texture & well presented, took a while to settle but when he did his movement won him Res C.C. 1 Atwell’s Kerrykeel Conchobhar at Xanwil 4 yr old with desirable head & excellent body coat, lacking coat on his rear which would enhance his well set hocks, in good body with depth of rib & firm loin with slight arch, tail set not as pleasing as others today, moving better in rear than from his front today. 1 C. C. & B.O.B. Averis & Barker’s Ch. Turith Adonis, a well known dog I have admired from ringside but when you get your hands on him & see up close you can honestly appreciate his quality. He is an obvious Champion and could not be denied top honours today. Shown & presented to perfection. Masculine all through with ideal head shape, strong jaw & correct bite. Fairly small dark eye with true terrier keen expression, perfect ear size & set, fair length of tapering neck leading to excellent shoulders, short pasterns & when seen coming towards truly straight, just right for rib & loin with desirable slight arch over, powerful driving rear & well set tail of good length, crisp coat & well muscled. Absolutely nothing to touch his quality today in the breed & delighted he won the group later in the day then the following day took R.B.I.S. Congratulations & so worthy of top awards. 1 & BV Hobson’s Erredwilstir Irish Bells 8 yr old & for me was a better height than 2 & more feminine, nice head & good dark eye of correct size, still in good body condition & holds her top line well, good feet & thick pads, tail well set & has good coat texture & condition. 2 Lee’s Sujoncla Goyathlay taller than 1 with pleasing shaped head, good eye but ears not as well set, has a good body shape still & firm loin with slight arch over, well set hocks, driving well from her rear but a little sloppy in front action coming towards, good feet shape. 1 Chilver’s Kenyntan Chasing Rainbows 3 yr old b strong jaw with skull flat & narrow, tapering neck to reasonable straight front, a little heavy in ribbing but firm loin, would prefer slightly longer, has a good double coat with harsh top coat, hard condition & muscular rear, moving better in rear than her front, correct feet & tail. OB (6) 1 C.C. Atkin’s Ch Holbam Celtic Summer Sh CM ShEx, judged her as a youngster & did her well then, she matured beyond my expectations & is well worthy of her title. Most lovely head with strong jaw, ideal neck length & set, good straight front, correct bone & desirable top line, slightly heavy in rib today but when I moved all in the class again she could not be denied top spot, crisp top coat & evidence of undercoat, correct feet in shape with thick pads, tail well set on & carried, lovely steady sound movement. 2 & Res C.C. Lee’s Ivyblue Crinkles, has excellent coat texture crisp & well presented. She appealed for size & height, presenting a sound flowing profile & moving well just not the verve of 1, feminine head on a firm neck, stands well in front with ideal depth of chest, elbows well held, good feet & pads. 3 Thomas’s Sunnystone Bright Light for Montelle.
