IRISH BELFAST 13 Judge(s): MR ANDREW BRACE Irish Terriers PD (1) 1 Byrne’s Inisfire Ted, 8 months & rather raw, balanced head with neat eye & good bite but ears need to settle. Good basic proportions, excellent coat texture but could carry a little more body weight to advantage. Trimming could be a little more sophisticated, especially on the head. Moves better behind than in front, typical temperament. JD (1) 1 Gruettner’s Uomo Mondano von der Emsmuuehle, 14 months, full of quality & screaming type. Perfectly balanced throughout with excellent head & expression, super forehand with smoothly filled forechest, correct ribbing & really well muscled up. Great coat texture brilliantly presented, on his toes & moving true. Still raw but overall type warranted his first CC & BOB. Looked well in the group later where Tom Johnston placed him fourth in strong competition. LD (1) 1 Bamsey’s Holbam Pearly Jack, mature dog of good basic type, expression could be a little more classical & he wasn’t very happy on the table. A little straight through the front which resulted in a rather choppy front action. Tail set a little low, quality coat. OD (1) 1 Barker & Averis’ Am Ch Kells Touch of Fleet St, immaculately presented mature dog of good basic type, handles well on the table, well balanced head, could stand with his forelegs more under him but moves dead true. Up against the junior he looked a little lower stationed but well deserved RCC. PB (1) 1 Bamsey’s Holbam Pearly Star, 6 months & already making a very pleasing overall picture. Feminine head full of expression, well put together with excellent coat texture. Steady mover but could be a little truer up & down. BP. JB (2) 1 Bamsey’s Holbam Celtic Kate, 12 months, well balanced & excellent type. Quality head, promising coat, moves well behind but needs to tighten in front. Outgoing character; 2 O’Donnell’s Doonrock Dance With The Devil, 11 months & not terribly happy about using her tail. Rather sombre expression, pleasing coat texture, good basic shape but movement rather restricted. LB (1) 1 Ruffles’ Ruffmar Bronzed Ballerina, mature bitch whose movement lets her down as she tends to plod in front & lack scope. Head a little strong in backskull, could have a little more rear angulation but in good coat. OB (3) 1 Barker & Averis’ Irvonhill White Rose, well presented & all of a piece with good basic construction. Excellent expression & sound mover, in good coat. Held her outline at all times. CC at her first show apparently; 2 Gruettner’s Rosalind von der Emsmuehle, in many ways more the general stamp & balance I prefer & going around she looked the winner but inexplicably on the stack she humped her topline & tended to go off the boil. I preferred her head planes but she is a little lighter in eye than 1. Flawlessly presented. RCC; 3 Bamsey’s Holbam Tierney’s Girl. ANDREW H BRACE |
