FOX WIRE WINDSOR 13 Judge: Dr I Gabriel BEST OF BREED : 4798 GOODSELL Mr A Ch Blackdale Supreme (IKC) Wire Fox Terriers A super entry. If this is representative entry then Wires appear to be in a good position & the presence of promising youngsters bodes well for the future. Quality was slightly stronger in bitches overall. I often read with scepticism that judges wished they had more CCs to hand out, however, I could have easily used more in both sexes. V 1 Day’s Proveits Once Upon A Time, nice bitch who belies her 9 years, pleasing head & ears, nice overall shape, in great condition & musculature. Not moving at her best behind. JD 1 De Munter & Uiterwijk’s Lionheart Van Foliny Home, striking 14 months male who caught my eye immediately with his overall shape & balance, scores in head, which is long & lean yet without any suggestion of weakness, well placed ears, correct chiseling & good eye affords him the desired expression, excellent reach of neck into well placed shoulders, clean in front with good feet, ultra short, excellent hind angulation with plenty behind the tail, moved well fore & aft, wouldn’t want him much bigger, good pin wire coat & presentation A1. With a bit more time & maturity I am sure this dog will trouble the best, will watch with interest; 2 Bradford’s Flyntwyre Figgy Duff, nicest t/w I have seen for a long time, good make & shape, pleasing expression with correct earset & neat eye, good reach of neck, good shoulders & short back, well off for bone, well ribbed up with good hindquarters, tail on top, moved well & with drive. To be hypercritical I would prefer him a shade leaner in head; 3 Hurst’s Proveits Stormin Norman. PGD 1 Lilley’s Wyregait Number One Guy, pleasing outline with lean neck into good shoulders, short backed & well ribbed up, good hindquarters with well developed second thigh, moved with drive although could be more positive in front action. Would benefit from a little more length of muzzle to complete the picture. LD 1 De Munter & Uiterwijk’s King Arthur Van Foliny Home, smart dog with all the attributes to take him to the top, super lean head with correct amount of chiselling, perfect ear carriage & small dark eye which gives him that real varminty expression, clean front, good bone & the best of feet, super reach of neck into good shoulders, short, strong topline with no signs of weakness, well muscled hindquarters with plenty behind the tail, moved soundly retaining his outline, presentation A1, in great form, he did not stop showing. RCC in tough competition, should make up with ease; 2 Pearce & Deacon’s Alkinra Making Mischief, nice dog, scores in head & overall outline, good body & bone, in good hard show condition, moved well. Slightly longer cast than 1, can at times show himself to disadvantage by tending to stand slightly wide in front, although he is not; 3 Renato’s Spark Kevin Magnus. OD 1 Goodsell’s Ch Blackdale Supreme, outstanding Wire dog who commanded my attention the moment he entered the ring, a beautiful outline & excels in overall balance & symmetry, scores with his elegant head, which is long & lean & without any sign of either weakness or coarseness, correct chiseling of foreface with neat small dark eye affords him that desired varminty expression made even more appealing by his correct head furnishings, ears are well placed & uses them to advantage, scored over others with his lovely long lean neck, clean in front & well off for bone, lovely catlike feet a feature sometimes ignored in this coat, lovely layback of shoulder, short backed & well ribbed up, excels with his super hindquarters with good well developed second thigh, there is more than plenty behind the tail, which is bang on top, in super hard condition, his correct pin wire coat was presented to the minute, moved well with drive, he is a great specimen of the breed. CC, BOB over a quality bitch, & G4 in a strong terrier group; 2 Brown-Cole’s Travella Striking Steel, striking dog who has done much winning, scores in head, which is typical with the correct desired chiseling, good earset, nice dark eye & pleasing expression, marginally longer cast than 1, still short backed with a strong topline which he retains on the move, good rib, short loin & correct hind angulation, moved OK with pleasing side gait, correct wire coat & in good hard condition. My preference would be for him to have a better tailset & a tighter front to complete the picture; 3 Renato’s Ruffled Joy Special. GC 1 P Once Upon A Time. PB 1 Cadez’s Hermoine De Cresecques, pretty puppy with all white body, clean head, excellent reach of neck with ultra-short back not needing any help from colour, shoulders OK, good rib & body, enough behind the tail, moved well despite the heat. BP & PG1; 2 Mayo’s Starcana Cocount, nice shape, pleasing head & ears, longer cast than 1. Could be a little freer in hind action. JB 1 De Munter & Uiterwijk’s Loveletter Van Folinyhome, litter sister to Foliny Home & in a similar mold but slightly more mature, good head & expression, good ear carriage & neat eye, clean neck into well laid shoulders, excellent body & rib, correct size but wouldn’t want her any bigger, moved well both ways, 2, Anderson’s Proveits Only Way Is Essex, good bitch with very pleasing outline & general shape, good neck & shoulder, clean front, correct coat texture, moved OK. Preferred head of 1; 3 Renato’s Hagall. PGB Superb class of quality bitches. 1 Chad’s Blackdale Angelina at Parkside, striking bitch who presents a nice clean outline, excels in head which is long & lean, strong muzzle but still very feminine, excellent ear placement & carriage, great reach of neck into good shoulders, short backed & well ribbed, plenty behind tail, moved OK. Had too much coat taken off her which really spoilt her overall appearance, with time & more furnishings should do well; 2 Pearce’s Alkinra Pepper Pot, smaller bitch than 1, neat outline with good reach of neck & short back, nicely headed with eye, despite the heat she moved out to her advantage. Not using her ears; 3 Harding’s Beekay Bellissima. LB 1 Barker’s Irvonhill Poinsetta, I have admired this bitch from the ringside for some time with her clean outline, super head & expression, I was certainly not disappointed to go over her, is very correct with good shoulders, clean in front & short backed, good rib, well off for bone. An elegant bitch who could carry a little more weight & furnishings to advantage. I am sure with time she will make up; 2 Hunt’s Dominus Dolly Bird, smart typy bitch, slightly larger than 1 overall, lots to admire, pleasing head & expression, good body, moved well in the heat; 3 Smith’s Lenicka Bright Ideas. OB Difficult class to sort out with a variety of types & size, ended up with a final trio of three good bitches all of which in my opinion are worthy of a CC. 1 Schoneberg’s Rainbow vd Schonenbergen, appealed for overall type, make & shape, correct size, super head which was correctly chiseled, good dark eye & neat ears used to advantage, strong muzzle yet still very feminine, certainly nothing snippy about this one, excellent reach of neck into well placed shoulders, good body & rib, short backed, good strong hindquarters with plenty behind the tail, one of the best jackets of the entry, put down very well & expertly handled. CC which I am told makes her up; 2 Frost’s Travella Star Choice, different type to 1, I have really liked this smart bitch from the ringside for some time, nice make & shape, lovely head & expression, correct eye & ear carriage, good reach of neck into correct shoulder, well bodied with excellent hindquarters, moved well both ways, well put down & handled, with fair play this bitch should get her crown, wish her well. RCC; 3 Nixon’s Willowyre Wish Upon A Star. IAN H GABRIEL |
