FOX WIRE JUDGE BLACKPOOL 13

Wire Fox Terriers

It is the sign of the times I suppose that the Wire entries these days do not come up to impressive numbers. There were 18 of the breed entered here, in the past there would have been many more just in the puppy classes. The quality was there & I had no trouble finding good & typy ones for the main awards.

PD (1)

1 BP, Maughan's Brocolitia Masquerade, 9 months, beautiful head, eyes & expression, neat well carried ears, fit body, level back, deep brisket. Hind action needs to settle.

JD (0).

LD (4)

1 Munter-Uiterwuk's King Arthur van Foliny Home, quality youngster in good form, short back, good length of head, keen expressive eyes, graceful neck, good topline, well presented coat but not a lot of it;

2 Pearce & Deacon's Alkinra Making Mischief, masculine, well bodied Wire with excellent coat, good head, high set tail, well carried. Just not as settled in movement as 1;

3 Maughan's Brocolitia Free For All.

OD (4)

Battle of the giants here with two classy top quality dogs.

1 Browne-Cole's Travella Striking Steel, easy on the eye, talk about being on tiptoe of expectation, keen & responsive in character, lovely head & eye, beautifully conditioned, good reach of neck, short back, good set on, well muscled quarters, sound mover, great showman, at one with his handler. CC, BOB, G1 & BIS, his 4th in a short space of time;

2 Goodsell's Ch Blackdale Supreme, I saw this dog at the Fox Terrier Expo & thought he looked very impressive then. Lovely type, gorgeous head & expression, firm body, every hair presented to perfection, strong quarters, good topline. Nothing in it when standing next to 1, good drive behind, just not the front movement of 1. Great pleasure for one to have two dogs of this calibre. RCC;

3 Schoneberg's Zigeunerjunge vd Schonen Bergen.

PB & JB (0).

LB (3)

1 Baker's Irvonhill Poinsetta, ultra feminine young bitch, lovely silhouette, attractive head, expressive eyes, focused showgirl taking it all in, good neckline & body, moved OK;

2 North's Anstars Firecracker, coat of good texture, but presentation could be improved. Good body & bone, keen intelligent expression. Not putting all in on the move, rather long cast.

OB (5)

1 CC, Frost's Travella Star Choice, stylish bitch with a lot to like about her, feminine head of good length, keen eye, neat ears, good reach of neck, strong fit body, moved & showed with a purpose, well handled;

2 RCC, Nixon's Willowyre Wish Upon A Star, not far behind, lovely coat texture, body & rib, quality head, well carried ears, steady showgirl, moved OK. Like both CC winners this one too is sired by Ch Travella Star Lord;

3 Schoneberg's Rainbow vd Schonen Bergen.
