FOX WIRE BELFAST 15 Judge(s): MR M SANDERS Wire Fox Terriers This appointment has been about 20 years in the making trailing up & down the country collecting the numbers. Yes I achieved the 64 required although the KC in recent years reduced it down to 50 hands on. My journey has seen me judge many breed classes at all breed shows along with a club show, Ch show without CCs, breed club seminar, hands on with critique gaining a pass, plus attending the JDP & gaining a credit & finally approved by our KC to award CCs. To this breed no one can say I was fast tracked! Constantly monitoring the entries at recent all breed Ch Shows I have seen entries as low as 3 (no CCs) & on average mid teens; Crufts being the exception. So my entry today of 10 was to me slightly disappointing although it was only 2 less than the Smooths. Thank you to those who did enter; I found the entry interesting! JD (1) 1 O’Donoghue’s Blackdale Starboard, 13 months youngster of merit. Has good length in head with a keen eye & expression. Ears set on top & used to good advantage. Good length in neck with a decent shoulder. Ribbing & body OK. Tailset good with plenty of shelf behind. His bone is OK with good feet. His jacket is crisp & was well presented. At times was a little wayward on the move. He just needs to settle. I must say it’s good to see a wire piloted by a youngster. Hope she continues after all they are the future. In this entry a deservedly RCC. OD (2) 1 Callega & Schembri’s Ch Mastini Di Rihana Goes To Casino, a privilege to go over such a quality exhibit. Super in head which has good length with plenty in jaw. His eye is of excellent colour which in turn gives off a real terrier “varminty” expression, all enhanced with super neat well places ears. His neck flows into a clean well laid shoulder, plenty in rib with a short strong level back which in turn leads to a well set tail. Plenty of shelf behind. His bone is of quality with good feet on the stack, he covers plenty of ground & on the move he displayed excellent footfalls on the out & back so parallel & true. Coat presentation as usual from this stable was totally immaculate, the complete package. Pleased to award him CC, BOB & delighted to witness him take G3. Congratulations; 2 Coutts’ Ir Ch Brocolita Talk O The North, old war horse enjoying his day out. He has a masculine well proportioned head with a decent eye & expression toppled with well placed ears, good strength in neck with excellent ribs. His bone has good quality with neat feet. Moved out OK felt he would have benefited for a hair cut! PB (1) 1 Coutts’ Burrencroft Wild At Heart, raw baby but has plenty to admire. Feminine well proportioned head with a keen eye & good expression. Ears neat & well placed. Correct in neck & front assembly. Short in back with plenty of rib. Legs & feet good. Once settled moved out OK. BP. JB (1) 1 O’Donoghue’s Blackdale Rosina, exhibit with plenty to admire. Excels in neck, body & general outline. Excellent set on with plenty of shelf. She has quality in bone with good feet. However whilst her head has good balance & she has a super eye, I could not get to grips with her ears, they appeared too small for her head. I found it most off putting. Having said that she moved with good rear drive, held her outline on the go around & was presented in excellent order. RCC. PGB (1) 1 Nicholl’s Stablemesto Scarlett, fair exhibit with some good breed points. Feminine well proportioned head, good in eye & expression. Reachy in neck, topline OK with plenty of shelf. Behind bone is correct with neat feet. Does however need to tighten up all round, especially on the move. Presented in good order. OB (1) 1 Frost’s Travella Secret Passion, so much to admire on this exhibit. Excels in head which is feminine but has correct length, dark eye giving off the keenest of expression. Neat well placed ears which she uses to good advantage. Super in neck & forequarters. Short in back with good ribs. Tailset correct with plenty of shelf in rear. Simply cannot stand wrong due to her excellent construction. Bone & feet correct, moved out with true purpose on the out & back displaying parallel rear drive with good extension up front. As usual presentation was 100%. Pleased to award her the CC, her second. The final jewel cannot be far away! MARTIN SANDERS |
