FOX SMOOTH JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 19

I was honoured to judge at this year’s National Terrier and thank those who entered under me and a special thanks to my stewards Sue Tweedie and Ray Mainland. Sadly like so many other breeds entries are declining and we all as custodians of the breed should show our support. Sadly there are some with “Mystic Meg” syndrome telling anyone willing to listen their predictions of the forthcoming results before a dog has set foot in the ring. Obviously their own stock is not worthy of my critique.
I was pleased with the overall quality and delighted with my final line up. There are still a number of issues that breeders need to address; some are becoming too tall, others too long and where are the beautiful small well carried ears of the past. Please read the standard.

SBD or B (2,0):

1. Rogers’ Only You du Manoir Saint Adrien at Lunafox. B/w bitch with nice overall shape. Good bone, legs & feet. Fair head & expression. Moved well with confidence.

2. Lorecon Daybreak at Lunafox. Predominantly all white bitch with black split face. Nice overall shape although a little long cast. Nice head, needs to use her ears to advantage. Front movement could be more positive.

MPD (No entries)

PD (1,0):

1. Davison’s Agria Latin Lover with Belfox. B/w with fair shape although a little long cast. Fair head & expression. Ears OK. Moved quite well. Requires time to develop and body up.

JD (2,2)

PGD (2,1):

1. Albert’s Zetamaz Hot of the Press at Dalfson. Predominantly all white with nice overall shape. Good legs & feet. Fair head & expression. Moved well. In very good condition but needs to watch this as he does not need to carry any more weight.

LD (7,0):

1. Anderson & Watt’s Nisyros Stormbound at Humeston. B/w with lovely shape. Correct size, short coupled with tail on top. Good head & expression with neat ears, nice neck & shoulders, ample bone. Moved really well & never stopped showing. Delighted to award him the CC, his 2nd, I’m sure the coveted third is not far away.

2. Brookes & Wildig’s Zetamaz Carbon Copy. B/w again a nice shape. Good head & expression. Nice neck & shoulders, ample bone, in good bloom. Moved OK. At times does not use his ears to advantage.

3. Moore’s Wild Thing at Eskwyre.

OD (3,0):

1. Brookes Zetamaz Gerard Depardieu. B/w of good breed type. Short coupled, nice legs & feet. Good head with nice eye & ears. Moved well, in good bloom. Res CC.

2. Julian’s Lanyons Smash and Grab. T/w of good overall type. Nice head with good eye & ears. Nice bone, legs & feet. A little long cast in body. In excellent coat & condition. Moved OK.

3. Mullan’s Chezatree The Show Must Go On at Tamodan.

VD or B (No entries)

MPB (4,1):

1. Hannar’s Borovale Nameri. Predominantly white youngster with split head markings. Very mature puppy with excellent qualities. Good head & expression with neat ears. Nice neck & shoulders. Good body shape, tail on top. Lovely bone, legs & feet. Moved well with confidence. A little heavy in coat at present but this will clear with age Was BP & delighted that she finished PG4.

2. Mullan & McFadden’s Tamodan Double Trouble. B/w puppy of promise. Not as mature as the winner but has good overall shape. Excels head & expression with correct ear set. Good neck & shoulders. Nice bone, legs & feet. A little unruly on the move but will improve with age.

3. Wilberg & Evans’ Pinnacle Amanda to Kanix.

PB (No entries)

JB (6,0):

1. Arustamyan’s Lorecon Space Monster. Nearly all white bitch with black ears. Nice overall shape. Good head with neat ears. Nice neck & shoulders, fair bone. A little long cast and needs to body up but time is on her side.

2. Anderson & Watt’s Nisyros Diamonds and Rust. Nearly all white with t/w head. Excels make & shape. Quality head with correct expression, short coupled. Lovely bone, legs & feet, moved OK. Needs a new jacket & did not use her ears to advantage.

3. Kettle’s Foxindean Prettiest Star.

PGB (5,1):

1. Ketley & Gash’s Enjakay Secret Love. B/w bitch of good breed type. Nice head with neat ears. Good neck & shoulders. Correct body shape, moved OK. In lovely condition. Just a little light in bone.

2. Davison’s Lizoni Hot To Trot. Heavy marked b/w with good breed type. Nice head & expression. Good body shape. Moved well, in fact one of the best of the day. Her tail detracts from the overall picture being carried too gaily.

3. Rundle’s Nampara New Year’s Magic.

LB (3,2):

1. Hannar’s Borovale Georgia. Nearly all white bitch with good overall shape. Good head & expression with correct eye & ears. Fair body shape. Sufficient bone with correct legs & feet. Showed really well. Would prefer better front movement.

OB (3,0):

1. Schoneberg’s Wanda vd Schonen Bergen. B/w of outstanding virtues. Having judged her on the continent it was a pleasure to go over her again. Correct size, lovely head with nice expression. Neat ears. Good neck into well placed shoulders, short coupled, tail on top. Correct bone with lovely legs & feet. In great bloom & presentation. Free flowing movement although to be hypercritical I would prefer firmer hind action. A lovely bitch who fully deserved CC & BOB.

2. Julian’s Lanyons Crime of Passion. T/w bitch of quality with a good head & correct expression. Neat ears, nice neck & shoulders. Good overall shape although slightly long cast. Good legs & feet, moved OK. In excellent coat & condition. Res CC.

3. Jones & Moakes’ Darlaur Deja Vu.
