FOX SMOOTH JUDGE MANCHESTER 10

Smooth Fox Terriers

My first appointment judging Smooths at this level, an excellent entry.

PD (2,1a)

1 Porter & Crisp’s Sufredon True Grit at Merekoast, 10 months smart b/w, nice length of head, good mouth, good eyes. Hopefully ears will lift a little more as he matures. Very nice neck & shoulders, good front, nice legs & feet, well angulated behind, moved quite well for a puppy. Will benefit from time & more experience in the ring. Well presented & handled.

JD (4)

1 Griffiths & Jones’ Yoxella White Tie, superb b/w in wonderful coat & condition, exceptionally good legs & feet, lovely combination of substance & quality, showed really well, lovely outline, good head & expression, good tailset, moved really true & covered the ground easily, maintaining his level topline, has good ring presence, perfectly handled & presented, one for the upper house I am sure. RCC;

2 Goodley’s Tuskenraider Skywalker, very good dog all round but not quite the head & ears of 1. Good neck & shoulders, good legs & feet, good make & shape, good backend, moved well;

3 Burney’s Jetstream Ascari.

PGD (4)

1 Crouch’s Yoxella Writers Block among Oaxaca, really attractive dog, lovely clean neck & shoulders, good outline, level topline, legs & feet, good front, body & ribs, nice lean head, flat skull, liked his expression, good tailset, moved well, very smart all round & very well presented;

2 Tindle’s Jesuie Un Rock Star, very attractive dog, t/w with good substance, in some ways a little more exaggerated than 1 with an ultra short back & a great reach of neck. Needs a bit more time to come together before he is at his best. 1 just had the edge in front;

3 Brookes’ Mischeif In Disguise for Zetamez.

LD (9,3)

1 Darby’s Starpride Devil In Disguise, very smart t/w dog of quality, lovely head & expression, good size, lovely outline, nice legs & feet, moved well, very well handled & presented;

2 Horlock’s Ranlock Portman, slightly bigger t/w dog, very free moving which won him his place, level topline. When he settles & pulls himself together has a lovely outline;

3 Marston’s Chipstead Gulliver from Classicway.

OD (4)

1 Thornton & Bebbington’s Ch Glendraterra Rising Sun, beautiful b/w upstanding dog, has real class & quality that stands out, wonderful type, beautiful lean head, flat skull, lovely eyes, superb neck & shoulders, good front, short back, mature body & ribs, lovely legs & feet, well angulated, good backend & tailset, good size, moved true & showed all the time, in A1 condition, first class presentation, reminiscent of Ch Boreham Bandbox, who I understand is his grandfather. CC;

2 Falkous’ Shillelagh San-Diego of Falkmere, first class dog, t/w, just up to size, having said that, for his size he is very well proportioned & has excellent conformation, soundly made all through & this showed on the move, one of the best moving dogs in the entry, in great form, very well handled;

3 Julian’s Vertway Scots Guard at Lanyons.

VD (2)

1 Saunders’ Star Turn of Galleyshine, 7 years white dog with a tan head, in lovely condition, good size, lovely head & eyes, lovely neck & shoulders, nice topline, good tailset, showed & moved well, a good one all round, still looking the part. BV;

2 Rougvie’s Glendraterra Two-Timer, 7 years t/w dog, nice size, high tailset, nice topline, front & ribs. Not moving as well as 1, just preferred the head qualities of 1.

PB (7,2)

1 Pearce’s Dobelands Smoothly Does It for Alkinra, very charming b/w puppy, really feminine & pretty, stood out for her quality & balanced proportions, handled well on the table, well constructed all through, super lean head, good expression, lovely clean neck & shoulders, moved well for a puppy. Not quite as forward as the others in this strong class but could not deny her first place. Needs to grow on & body up, hope she does, as looking at her I think she has the potential to do very well. BP;

2 Morris’ Sanamaris Spill The Beans, very pretty b/w bitch of good type, lovely head & expression. To be very critical, for perfect balance she could be a touch taller on the leg, but has time on her side;

3 Thornton & Bebbington’s Chezatree Sundays Grace by Glendraterra.

JB (5,1)

1 Horspool’s Rotur Celtic Desire of Adaires, outstanding b/w, full of quality & very feminine, like the dog CC winner she stood out, nicely matured for her age, lovely clean feminine head, correct ears & expression, superb neck & shoulders, nice front, lovely legs & feet, ideal size, short back, level topline, lovely backend & high tailset, moved really well, first class presentation & handling, showed perfectly for her handler, nothing plain about her, class all through. CC & BOB;

2 Saunders’ Galleyshine Secret Love, lovely quality b/w bitch, nice size & good type, good head & expression, lovely make & shape, moved well, really good outgoing temperament, very showy & lively, should do very well, expertly presented & handled, in lovely form;

3 Hannar’s Ambers Ginger Spice.

PGB (4)

Tough class to judge, all four had good but very different points.

1 Darby’s Dobelands Private Dancer of Classicway, the more I looked at this bitch the more I liked her, really pretty & showy, nicely balanced all through, generally well proportioned, lovely size, good make & shape, good body & tailset, lovely outgoing temperament, certainly kept her handler on her toes, but handler got her to perform very well to show off her qualities & her character, in lovely body weight & condition, nice one all round, moved out well;

2 Ketley & Gash’s Migley Eileen at Enjakay, lovely t/w bitch with lots of quality about her but needs time to come together. Elegant bitch who excels in head, neck & shoulders. Not the sparkle of 1 standing or on the move. I am sure she will see better days once she matures in body & settles;

3 Tindle’s Jesuie Mystic.

LB (7,1)

Nice class to judge with little separating the first four places.

1 Law’s Sufredon Soul Mate, lovely b/w bitch, perhaps not the most striking upon first impression, but handles so well on the table. Lovely conformation, lovely long neck, good shoulders, compact firm body, good body & ribs, nice for size, lovely tailset, moved well, lovely combination of quality & substance which took her to the top of this strong class;

2 Wilson’s Lizoni Shadow Dancer, lovely b/w bitch, in lovely form, showing so well, a little more elegant than 1. Lovely head & expression, good neck & shoulders. Just thought 1 had the edge in compactness & substance. Very well handled & presented, moved well, close up;

3 Hughes’ Forgevale Fourstar.

OB (7,2)

1 Porter & Crisp’s Merekoast Vixen, really impressive predominantly white bitch with a black head, very pretty & feminine all through, lovely size, lovely head with sharp keen expression, lovely neck & shoulders, short back, excellent level topline, good tailset, nice legs & feet, clean cut outline in profile with good substance, shows & performs perfectly for her handler, never stands wrong, in lovely form, a quality bitch, moved well. RCC;

2 Marston’s Chipstead Gemstone, very impressive bitch with a lot of class, slightly bigger than 1 but has excellent type. Quality all through, super long head, good expression, strong foreface, moved & showed well. Was carrying a little excess weight over the shoulders & coat was not at its best. Had she been in top form, would have made the decision between 1 & 2 even harder;

3 Graffin’s Leconridge Kiss Me Kate.
