FOX SMOOTH JUDGE CRUFTS 15

Smooth Fox Terriers

It was indeed an honour & a privilege to be invited to judge both Fox Terrier breeds at, without doubt, the most prestigious dog show in the world. Dogs had appeared from all parts of the globe to compete & I would like to thank everyone concerned for making this appointment a truly unforgettable experience.

The general level of presentation & conditioning of the dogs was exceptional. My BOB winners were outstanding & looked fantastic in the group ring. I am sure that everyone who watched the group judging would agree.

Some still hold the view that the influx of foreign dogs has a detrimental effect on our shows. After witnessing this cosmopolitan entry at first hand I feel it can only add & ultimately benefit our owners, breeders & handlers. Especially as we have no large kennels in this country anymore where many of our older or now sadly retired breeders, exhibitors & handlers learned much of their trade.

Despite the obvious language barriers, dog breeding, showing, trimming etc seem to have an international language of its own, which everyone appears to be fluent in!

VD (1)

1 Brookes’ Dobelands Touch Of Frost at Zetamaz, all white dog with tan markings on head. In very good show condition, ideal size, make & shape. Good bone, legs & feet. Tail on top & well balanced throughout. Moved freely.

PD (2)

1 Brookes’ Zetamaz Gerard Depardieu, upstanding b/w dog in very good condition & body weight. Nice head & expression, make & shape. Moved well when he finally settled. BP;

2 Turley’s Zetamaz Marcel Marceau avec Llyunamill, all white dog with black markings on his head. Not as mature as 1. However he will be more than useful when he bodies up. He has all the necessary attributes to have a good career. He just needs time to develop.

JD (5)

1 Jones’ Darlaur Dakota, top class young dog, shown in sparkling condition. Super head, neck & shoulders, level topline with good set on. Moved soundly. Sure to do a great deal of winning. RCC;

2 Broom & Crouch’s Oaxaca Del Boy with Roxway, all white dog with a tan head. Didn’t make it easy for his handler. Similar type to 1 in most respects. Needs ring training & lead work to finish off as the top dog he should become;

3 Turley’s Tamedale Beethoven at Llyunamill, mature b/w stallion type of dog, in excellent order & show trim. Moved well for his handler.

PGD (9,2a)

1 Ketley & Gash’s Enjakay Split Second, basically an all white dog with black markings to his beautiful head. Good neck & shoulders, soundest mover in the class, ideal size;

2 Jacques’ Residenset’s Hands In The Air for Jacqspot, all white dog with tan markings to his head. Longer cast than 1. However he has much to admire. Moved freely & showed well;

3 Saunders’ Galleyshine Black Emperor, b/w quality dog in excellent order & show trim. Moved freely on a loose lead for his handler.

LD (11)

1 Merveille’s Belfox Matador, top quality tri dog in excellent order. Shown by a very capable young handler who did a first class job in exhibiting his charge. Lovely head & expression, good make & shape, moved at the correct speed & was sound. Well done;

2 Templeton’s Thunderclap McGlumpher, t/w dog of correct size, make & shape. Good head & expression, short compact body with tail on top, showed well. Free mover;

3 Lomholt’s August, all white dog with black markings to his head. Made a trio of very smart dogs. Moved & showed well.

OD (8,1)

1 Schoeneberg’s Absolutely Superstitious, I would have named this dog absolutely fantastic. Because that’s what he is & what I thought of him. Superbly balanced & in excellent condition. As good a Smooth as I have seen. Credit must go to his handler for the way he turned him out & showed him. CC & BOB;

2 Weiss & Manuela’s Yoxella Wikileaks, all white dog with black markings on his head. Looked the part. Moved & showed very well.

3 Sallee-Hill’s Am Ch Foxwell Rama Power Strike, t/w dog of ideal size, make & shape. Moved & showed well. Free mover. In really good show trim & condition;

GCD (0).

VB (3,1)

1 Hall’s Ch Migley Domino with Gosel, I cannot believe it was some 7 years ago I gave this bitch BP & RCC at Windsor. She looked great today. A heavily marked t/w bitch who became a very worthy ch;

2 Chalker’s Rio’s Sparkling Snowflake, all white free moving bitch who seemed to really enjoy her day out. Well balanced throughout, short coupled with a feminine head & expression, lovely size.

PB (2)

1 Rundle & Gaydon’s Saredon American Girl, b/w puppy bitch with lovely head & expression, good neck & shoulder, moved & showed really well for her experienced handler;

2 Turley’s Zetamaz Paris By Night avec Llyunamill, another b/w bitch with pretty head & expression. Short compact body which needs time to mature. When she develops & bodies up will do well.
