FOX SMOOTH JUDGE BATH 10

Smooth Fox Terriers

This was my first time awarding CCs in Smooths. The Standard is straight forward & I was looking forward to judging sound, well constructed terriers who could move with good drive from behind. There were very few who fitted this description I am sorry to say.

The lower dog classes were quite disappointing. Many were tied in front & lacked rear propulsion; some were unsettled & skittish on the move so not easy to assess.

I had one or two who were a bit porky.

On the plus side temperaments were absolutely first class, mouths were good & most were up on their toes. I was very pleased with my top winners.

PD (1)

1 Marston’s Chipstead Cello, 11 months white, tan ears, up to size, masculine head & outlook, good body & condition, well boned. Needs a bit of schooling & to move & show with more coordination.

JD (1)

1 Brookes’ Mischief In Disguise for Zetamaz, t/w, clean & very smart young man, in excellent coat & form, well presented & conditioned, keen expression, good neckline & depth of body, focused showman. Would like better hind movement.

PGD (3)

1 Richardson’s Glendraterra Pied Piper, well proportioned stallion looking male, masculine head of good length, clean neck & shoulders, excellent feet, well muscled quarters, carrying plenty of weight, well handled. Could be more positive going away but side movement was OK;

2 Tindle’s Jesuie Un Rock Star, t/w, quality head, well carried ears, fit & well muscled, good body & quarters, well presented. Bit erratic & not very settled on the move;

3 Harris’ Sufredon Icon.

LD (2)

1 Marston’s Chipstead Gulliver from Classicway, keen, intelligent expression. Carrying a little bit of surplus weight but this did not affect his movement. Excellent silhouette & proportions, responsive showman;

2 Horlock’s Ranlock Portman, pleasing head, good body, clean well presented coat. Tail carriage rather gay. Showed well in spasms when something held his interest but never settled on the move.

OD (5,1)

Good class.

1 Darby’s Starpride Devil In Disguise, t/w, I liked him for balance & proportions, excellent type & size, showed well throughout, moved with a purpose 90 per cent of the time. Good head & eye, short back, tail on top, very good topline & quarters, lovely coat & condition, sympathetically handled. CC, his 3rd I believe;

2 Jones & Griffiths’ Yoxella White Tie, gorgeous head & expression, full of himself, confident showman, good bone & depth of body, compact feet, used his neck to advantage, in super form, very fit, moved OK. RCC;

3 Julian’s Vertway Scots Guard at Lanyon’s.

PB (3)

1 Thornton & Bebbington’s Glendraterra Dawn To Dusk, quite delightful this 7 months t/w, lovely outline when she remembered to pose! Full of feminine charm, attractive head, good reach of neck, well proportioned, good coat, full of promise. BP;

2 Marston’s Chipstead Harp, litter sister to PD winner, ears took time to settle but eventually they did. Keen dark eyes, happy showgirl but all over the place when moving. Could carry a little more weight to advantage;

3 Brookes’ Yoxella Wear It Well for Zetamaz.

JB (4,2)

1 Morris’ Sanamaris Spill The Beans, b/w, smart as paint, quality head, good neck & shoulders, well set & carried tail, moved & showed quite well, well bodied, handled to best advantage;

2 Thornton & Bebbington’s Chezatree Sunday’s Grace by Glendraterra, 11 months t/w, bit over-excited & didn’t do herself justice standing or moving. Feminine head, good neckline & shoulder placement, well proportioned. Made hard work for her handler & needs to get her act together.

PGB (2)

1 Clifford’s Migley Audrey, t/w, good make & shape, attractive head, keen expression, held topline on the move, good neckline, well conditioned & handled, happy showgirl;

2 Tindle’s Jesuie Mystic, b/w, typy bitch, bright intelligent expression, good bone, legs & feet. Just a little slack in topline on the move. Handled to advantage.

LB (4,1)

1 Wilson’s Lizoni Shadow Dancer, feminine, cooperative responsive showgirl, nicely proportioned, excellent reach of neck, short level back, well carried tail, keen outlook & attitude. RCC;

2 Schonenberg’s Gloria vd Schonenen Bergen, t/w, bit slack in topline but showed herself off quite well. Well conditioned & coated, good length of head, strong quarters;

3 Saunders’ Galleyshine Secret Love.

OB (5,1) A quality class. 1 Horspool’s Ch Rotur Celtic Desire of Adaires, classy bitch of very good type, real eyecatcher, plenty of style & ring presence, most typical head, dark eyes giving lovely expression, fit & well muscled, well proportioned, firm body & topline, great coat & condition, on her toes, performed very well, lovely silhouette, expertly handled. Fully deserved top honours. CC & BOB;

2 Lewis’ Dobelands Sonador, quality t/w, lovely neckline which she used well both standing & moving, pleasing head, excellent body & ribcage, steady showgirl, moved OK;

3 Clifford’s Migley Whiteside.
