DANDIE SKC MAY 09 Judge(s) MR G I JOHNSTON DCC AM CH PENNYWISE BURNING AMBITION FOR CASSENCARRIE (IMP USA) (MRS B DEACON) Dandie Dinmont Terriers A lovely entry. I think that most Dandie exhibitors are, by now, aware of the great love I have for the breed. It is always a pleasure to assess them & for the past few appointments it has also been a privilege to judge such outstanding Dandies. Forget the breed’s numerical vulnerability & concentrate on the current phenomenal quality. It should be no surprise to see Dandies figuring prominently in ch show terrier groups, long may it continue. Some attention should be given to eye size & colour & a few exhibits had uneven fronts. PD (0). JD (2) 1 Hansford’s Cassencarrie Bonnie Lad, pepper, very good textured coat, pleasing colour, tail carriage correct. Moves a little narrow behind. Good masculine skull, large dark eye, strong jaw & correct bite; 2 Miller’s Puddockswell Moonshadow, pepper, smaller type than 1. Excellent temperament, good weasley outline. Coat could be better. LD (10) Very good class. 1 Carter’s Cassencarrie James Blonde, mustard, in excellent coat, classic skull & furnishings. I would like a larger eye. Lengthy, shapely, strong topline, tail well set, moved with some purpose. RCC; 2 Denham’s Scottsbairn Duke of Ross, pepper, very good outline, superb hind action, excellent jacket of good colour, temperamentally faultless. Needs larger eye; 3 Skitt’s Ibolya-Kozi Popey at Deegandan. OD (4,1a) 1 Deacon’s Am Ch Pennywise Burning Ambition for Cassencarrie, mustard, lovely colour & in good coat, very sound mover, even front, good tight feet, punishing jaw & large teeth, head amply furnished. Tailset could be better. CC; 2 C Bonnie Lad; 3 Skitt & Jones’ Vistca Vincent. PB (0). JB (3) 1 Cottee’s Deegandan Alwin, excellent moving mustard, good temperament, in good coat, pleasing colour, good sized skull, well furnished, shapely body; 2 Osbourne’s Pitfirrane Silver Lady of Braego, pepper, what a superb mover, good honest Dandie. Rather sparse in head furnishing. Hard condition; 3 Bedborough’s Puddockswell Gilded Lily from Pitfirrane. LB (5) 1 D Alwin; 2 Denham’s Dentgate Serendipity, pepper, excellent lengthy shapely body, very sound front & rear, moving well, in good coat, nice medium colour. Rather long in foreface & eye rather small ; 3 Kinsey-Morgan’s Inzievar Gold Edition. OB (4) 1 Shore’s Ch Swanwillow Savannagh, mustard, superb Dandie I have admired since she was a baby, beautifully presented, correct coat, pleasing colour, impressive head, dark eye, lovely topknot, excellent bite & that typical formidable Dandie jaw, moves soundly on strong legs & feet. Not surprised to see her figure prominently in the group. CC & BOB; 2 Green’s Inzievar Rose Gold for Abbeywater, mustard, although not so dark eyed or moving as forcefully as 1 she is still a top class Dandie. Shapely & well balanced, her coat texture is correct & of pleasing colours. I had no hesitation in recalling her for RCC; 3 Deacon’s Cassencarrie Red Ribbon. GEORGE JOHNSTON
