DANDIE DINMONT JUDGE DRIFFIELD 15

Dandie Dinmont Terriers

Firstly many thanks to Driffield Canine Society officers & committee for inviting me to judge & secondly a big thank you to my efficient & professional steward, Liz who was invaluable.

The ground was not its best first thing, being covered in early morning dew, & consequently some of the movement in the earlier classes suffered. The young bitch classes were inspiring, which is encouraging as they are our custodians of the breed.

MPD & PD (0).

JD (2)

1 Wager’s Inzievar Border Silver, shapely dog with a good head with pleasing expression & large teeth. In good coat & moved well keeping his shape on the move;

2 Skitt & Stanford’s Dainty Dandies King Of My Castle, smaller dog than 1, with a good length & topline, well proportioned head & dark eye. Adult coat needs to come through & he did not like the ground under his feet today.

YD (3,2a)

1 Kurg’s Hawkesmill Jefferson at Etsill, dog of excellent type, with characteristic head & expression. Strong neck leading into well angulated shoulders. Deep chest & good length of rib. Well angulated quarters & moved well enough on this uneven ground. Coat coming through but not at its best today. RCC.

PGD (3)

1 Sleight’s Bonnybeck Moonlight Bay, good topline, with pleasing head, expression & correct bite. Good jacket & held his tail well on the move. A little note, movement would improve if lost a little weight;

2 Doyle’s Dentgate Jackfrost at Ilexquercus, strong head with a dark eye & pleasing expression. Correct scissor bite with large teeth. Nice length of body & tailset. Moved well;

3 Atkinson’s Norfolkhaven Royal Beau.

LD (3)

1 Bell’s Hawkesmill Indigo from Reidswire, nice sized quality dog with a good top line & coat. Well proportioned head & lovely melting expression. Moved very well;

2 Jacka-Slater’s Pennywave Lone Ranger, nice sized dog, well balanced with good head & pleasing expression, lovely rich crisp mustard jacket;

3 Atkinson’s Berdinbrooke Golden Fleece.

OD (1)

1 Bromley’s Mishahda Volcanic Storm, presented in immaculate condition, well muscled & coat at its best. Delightful picture when viewed from the front, with straight legs on padded feet leading into sloping shoulders & top offed with a dark eye, melting expression & silky top knot. Weaselly body of good length & ribbing, finished with well angulated hindquarters. In top form today. CC. GCD (2) Congratulations to both these boys on achieving their gold award. 1 B Moonlight Bay;

2 D Jackfrost at I.

MPB (1)

1 Buckley’s German Dandies Violetta, exquisite young bitch. Long & low, well angulated throughout with a strong head, dark eye & lovely feminine expression. Moved straight with drive & purpose. Coat coming through.

PB (4)

1 Bromley’s Mishahda Vibrant Amber, 1 & 2, litter sisters & it was a hard decision between them with not a lot to dislike in either of them. Long & low, with excellent reach of neck, good head & dark eye. Really stretched out on the move covering the ground with ease. New adult coat coming through & of good colour & texture. BP;

2 Shore’s Mishahda Golden Chestnut at Swanwillow, very dignified. Stronger head than 1 with profuse silky top knot & melting expression. Shapely topline, well proportioned & balanced. Moved well; 3 Miller’s Dryfevalley Hey Genivieve.

JB (3,1)

1 Jacka-Slater’s Cloverwood Duchess May, charming young lady. Nice sized, beautifully assembled & feminine throughout. Excellent head & dark eye. Good crisp mustard coat & good topline. Seemed unhappy with the ground today;

2 Atkinson’s Kingcottage Abilene West, handled the ground better than 1 & enjoyed her day out. Sweet head with correct bite & dark eye. Good length & tailset.

YB (4)

1 Milton’s Hawkesmill Jenny for Wilmit, an absolute show girl demanding attention. Superb in all respects, from her strong head proportions through to her weaselly body to her sound purposeful movement. RCC;

2 Miller’s Dryfevalley Minnie The Minx, smaller bitch than 1, with a good topline, head & dark eye. In good coat & moved well & happily; 3 Skitt’s German Dandies' Trixibelle.

PGB (1)

1 King’s Bonnybeck Delilah Creek, pleasing bitch with good textured coat. Nice head & dark eye, kept her topline on the move. Showed well.

LB (3)

1 Denham’s Dentgate Fire Opal, well balanced with a good topline & body length. Good head with a sweet melting expression but coupled with astonishing big maxilla muscles & teeth;

2 Russell’s Hawkesmill Ishbelle, like her brother, full of quality. Strong head with feminine expression, good topline, a little unsettled on the move. Both these ladies were shown in beautiful full pencilled coats, which are seen less & less these days;

3 Bell’s Lannia Harvest Charm from Reidswire.

OB (1)

1 Denham’s Dentgate Hollyberries, an unpretentious bitch with just everything going for her. Oozes femininity whilst maintaining all the qualities needed to work. Lovely balance & shape. Strong beautifully proportioned head with dark ‘smiling’ eyes, framed with a soft silvery top knot. Moved with complete ease, she could have kept her perfect rhythmic pace up all day. CC & BOB.

GCB (1)

Congratulations on achieving your silver award.

1 King’s Bonnybeck Delilah Creek.
