DANDIE DINMONT JUDGE DRIFFIELD 09

Dandie Dinmont Terriers

It was a great pleasure to judge one of my favourite terrier breeds. Dandies are always so friendly & full of character. For BOB I had two extremely nice dogs & it was hard to decide. In the end I was just bowled over by the gorgeous bitch & one we will hear much more of.

MPD (0).

PD (1)

1 Jacka-Slater’s Cassencarrie Robbie Burns, mustard, promising young dog. Not in the best of coats. Nice in head & expression, good bone & feet. Could be a little sounder in front at present but the ground didn’t really help too much.

JD (2,1a)

1 Hansford’s Cassencarrie Bonnie Lad, pepper of good size, liked his head, well shaped eye. Not in his best coat & now needs a new one. Didn’t move at all well on the ground. Would also prefer a better topline.

YD (3)

1 Jones & Skitt’s Vistca Vincent, mustard, well balanced, sound moving. Very short of coat. OK in topline & excellent hindquarters;

2 C Bonnie Lad.

PGD (1)

1 Brain’s Avonview Bien Bhreac, mustard, wouldn’t want him any larger. Good coat texture, quite a nice head & eye.

LD (5)

Such a difficult class with toplines & fronts being the major problem.

1 Denham’s Scottsbairn Duke Of Ross, pepper, nice size. Bit happy with his tail but I had to forgive this. Best head for me in the class. Not in best of coats but moves out well;

2 Carter’s Cassencarrie James Blonde, mustard, bit rangier in type to 1. Not quite head of 1 & wasn’t as settled on the move;

3 Smethurst’s Dawsholm Dapper Davoc.

OD (3,1)

1 Deacon’s Ch/Am Ch Pennywise Burning Ambition for Cassencarrie, mustard, a dog I have judged in a group earlier in the year. Very nice dog, not overdone anywhere. Just out moved the rest, in super coat & condition. CC;

2 Macbeth & Johnston’s Am/Can Ch Gateway Sparks of Glahms, pepper, a lot to like, super head & expression, standing looks the part. He made heavy weather of moving & where the 1 scored here he didn’t. Would love to see him on firmer ground. RCC.

MPB (2,1)

1 Skitt’s Dawsholm Cantily Ciara, p/s, a baby, moved OK when she decided to. In good coat, good front & feet, good topline, well presented.

PB (2)

1 Morris’ Pennywave Amaryllis, mustard, very promising, very good outline. Tends to flatten her topline at times. Super head & expression, should have a good future. BP;

2 Lomas’ Cloverwood Double Delight, not as forward as 1 & not the head. Good textured coat, moved OK both in profile & coming & going.

JB (1)

1 Tinsley’s Cloverwood Lemon Drizzle, what a lovely bitch this is, so feminine, beautiful head & expression, so sound, good amount of neck, excellent coat & presentation, one for the upper house definitely, looked so good in the challenge. CC & BOB.

YB (2)

1 Brookes’ Berdinbroook Pandora, pepper, nice size, good topline, good coat texture. Head OK but ears could be better;

2 Joy’s Hendell Eliza Bennet with Morailsa, sadly this bitch wasn’t enjoying her day & refused to stand or really move for her stand in handler. Sure she will have better days.

PGB (5,1)

1 Smith’s Somercloud Starprize at Glendandy, mustard & for me the best head & expression in this class. Shown in full coat which didn’t really help her outline. Good amount of neck, good topline. Would have liked a bit more hind angulation;

2 Heywood’s Schalulleke Clara Jones, good moving bitch, not quite head of 1, good neck & shoulder. Little flat in topline. Very short of coat at present but that will grow. OK for size & in profile moves out well;

3 Brookes’ Dengold Cutty Sark of Berdinbrook.

LB (5,2)

1 Deacon’s Cassencarrie Red Ribbon, mustard & for me best outline & head in this class, moves out well. Wouldn’t want her any taller or heavier as she is top size now but no taking away her other qualities. Well presented;

2 Morris’ Hendell Tassel at Pennywave, mustard, very feminine bitch. Not quite as good in neck & shoulder as 1. Moved OK in profile but could be a little sounder in front;

3 Corless’ Hendell Cassiopia at Dengold.

OB (4,3)

1 Shore’s Ch Swanwillow Savannah, mustard I have often seen & admired. Nice size, well bodied, good topline & tailset, lovely head & expression. Not in her best coat. RCC.
