DANDIE DINMONT CRUFTS 24 Judge: Mrs G M Denham I would like to thank the Kennel Club Committee for the privilege of judging the Dandie Dinmont Terrier at this prestigious show. It was a great experience and one I will never forget. A big thank you also to the exhibitors who gave me a wonderful entry. I was looking for a Dandie that could move with drive, with correct hind quarters and sound shoulders. The coat should be a double coat with right mixture of harsh to soft undercoat. Finally the head needs to be a domed skull with lower set ears, a lovely top knot, deep melting eyes and a bramble dark nose. I love a beautiful head. Coats varied considerably in quality and I feel that the breed needs consideration in the front and shoulders. The top line needs also to be addressed, as this is an important breed point. This was in fact a deciding factor in several classes. My dog CC winner had all the qualities worthy of a champion and they are a credit to their owners. The bitch CC winner had also returned to the show ring after having a litter, so that makes her extra special. Thank you all once again. I had the most amazing experience and a lovely day with the most delightful breed. 1. France’s Ch/Int/Multi Ch. Back To My Roots at Luna Caprese with Torbrae (imp DEU) ShCEx. 7 year old pepper dog enjoying his day out, moved well around the ring, good jacket, lovely head, nice expression, eyes, good topknot, delightful temperament and living proof that Dandies never age. 2. Cedersrstrom’s Multi Ch. Collector’s Incredible Mr Dubbs Nord Vv-23. 10 year old pepper dog with a nice head and dark eyes, movement poor, lacking drive from the rear, the coat needs to be improved. 1. Henry’s Dashing Top Hat N Tails at Tymeirz. 10 months old pepper dog, good size excellent head with good skull and muzzle, lovely dark expressive eyes and strong neck, I would have liked more quality in the shoulders, rear movement made up for it on the move, good size and jacket. 2. Tinsley’s Cloverwood Happy Daze. 10 months mustard pup with excellent head and expressive eyes, very typical body and top-line, preferred the length of 1st, coat in good order and masculine in every department, well presented and moved well. 3. Bell’s Cloverwood Total Legend. 1. Davies/Kettle’s Bettyhill New Kid In Town. Lovely class, ultimately lead by Bettyhill New Kid In Town, very impressive mustard dog in tip top coat and condition, moved very well, excellent sprig of rib, ideal top-line, good angulation, showing really well. 2. Van Betuw’s Frizzy Heads Agent of Hearts. Lovely pepper dog, head and skull a lot to like, his coat is coming in, a little soft, really nice size, moved with confidence around the ring and maintaining his top-line, pushed 1st hard for his placing. 1. Cruden/Kaye’s Dryfevalley Midnight Blue. Lovely pepper dog with a nice head, good mouth with punishing teeth, good neck and ideal top-line, excellent spring of rib and maintained his top-line on the move, really balanced dog and a very good size. 2. Edginton’s Diamondandie Earl. Mustard dog of real quality, he had a lovely head, very sound on the move and his coat is in good order. 3. Nathan/Cox-Purcell’s Puddockswell Screaming J Hawkins. 1. Sleight’s Mishahda Where It All Began. Mustard bitch of 7 years, good head and expressive eyes, coat ok, would have liked more quality in the shoulders, not the movement of 1st. 3. Atkinson’s Kingcottage Abilene West at Hullpride. 1. Redman’s Puddockswell Little Fig. This pepper bitch caught my eye at once with a wonderful temperament, showing like a star, lovely head, very breed typical, nice reach of neck and top-line, very good coat, sound feet and legs, lovely size, most promising. 2. Very sound pepper bitch puppy in a good coat and well presented, nice head and expression, moved well around the ring, very confident youngster, just preferred the size of 1st, these two puppies are litter sisters. 3. Hendrick’s Cloverwood Precious Pansy. 1. Russell’s Jollygaze Ursula at Hawkesmill. Top quality mustard bitch not exaggerated in any department, everything is balanced from head to tail, maintained top-line, very good shoulder placement made movement very positive, good coat with the right texture and double coat. 2. Butcher’s Bonnybeck I’m No Muggle. Very nice pepper bitch with lovely head and expressive eyes, coat was correct and showed really well, little heavier than 1st. 3. Ness/Nicholson’s Calmarlin State Occasion. 1. Cavanagh’s Nora Z Roxburku Sun cum Magellanica. Garven’s Cloverwood Magic Minnie. Very sweet mustard bitch with good head, lovely jacket, maintains her top-line and moved with drive. 3. Cavanagh’s Puddockswell My Darling Clementine cum Magellanica. 1. Buckley’s Jollygaze Quizzical for Lovelettie (imp AUS). This pepper bitch caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring, moving on a loose lead, very happy outgoing bitch, eager to please her handler, very feminine with a lovely head and eye expression, nothing exaggerated, front and rear assembly was very correct, moved with drive, won the class on balance and movement, I was very pleased to award her BCC, I learned after judging that she had just returned to the show ring after having a litter of pups. 2. Tinsley’s Ch. Cloverwood Here Comes Lulu. Another good bitch, slightly larger than 1st but had good body proportions and angulation, very strong head, oozed breed type, good reach of neck and correct top-line, moved well around the ring.
