DANDIE DINMONT CRUFTS 16 Dandie Dinmont Terrier Judge(s): MR B KERRUSH DANDIE DINMONT JUDGE CRUFTS 16 CRUFTS It was a great honour to be invited to judge my breed at Crufts. I should like to thank the sporting exhibitors for the wonderful entry, and my stewards, Miss K Lathaen and Mr D Franks for doing a superb job. 1, Buckley’s Dentgate Celebration, eight-year-old medium sized dog, well -constructed and in good coat. Rather soft in expression and movement erratic when going away. 1, Miller and Cox-Purcell’s Puddockswell Augustus Magnussen. Promising and masculine young pepper with good length and strong head. Well-muscled neck, leading to good shoulders. Presented in good coat and moving well both ways. Should have a very bright future – Best Puppy. 2, Tinsley’s Glahms Regal Canadian, mustard youngster in good coat, moved well but much shorter than the winner and shorter in the muzzle than I like. 1, Booth’s Borderstone Kingsman for Lannia. Well-known pepper boy, of good length and low slung. Presented in good coat, but I would like a stronger head and I found him lacking in topline. Moved well both ways . 2, Wager’s Inzievar Border Silver, strong-headed masculine boy in good coat; he impressed when viewed from the side, but his movement was poor both ways and I would have liked more bone. POST-GRADUATE DOG (3,0): 1, Johnson’s Puddockswell My Dear Watson for Incantocani, not the longest exhibit, but won this class on movement alone – excellent both ways. Masculine, strong head with good expression. Coat could have been better. 2, Sleight’s Bonnybeck Moonlight Bay, well-presented mustard in good coat. Large head, with good expression. Carrying a little too much condition and failed in rear movement. 3, Small’s Bettymac Dram O’Dalwhinnie. Mustard boy who was rather unsettled. Pleasing expression, but presented in loose soft coat and not moving well either way. 1: Kurg’s Hawkesmill Jefferson at Etsill. Well-known pepper boy with a very good head, great expression, long, low body and adequate movement, but his jacket left much to be desired. 2, Bell’s Hawkesmill Indigo from Reidswire, pepper boy, half-brother to the class winner. Better coated, but not as good in head or topline and rather close behind. 3, Jacka-Slater’s Pennywave Lone Ranger, well-presented mustard in excellent coat. Strong body, showing enough topline, but paid the price by lacking strength in skull and moving very close behind. 1, Eriksson’s CH/Int/Nor/Sw/Dan Ch Inzievar Wins Gold. A perfect visual aid to the standard. Starts with a great head - strong, masculine and with the best of expressions; well-muscled neck leading to excellent shoulders and forehand. Classic topline and good tail carriage, which stayed in place on the move. His movement was excellent both ways. If anything, his coat could have been better, but there was nothing to beat him – Dog CC. 2, Young’s Inzievar the Goldsmith, well-presented mustard, excels in construction and coat, excellent head, masculine expression and good topline. Moved well both ways. He is a credit to his handler and just lacked the maturity needed to steal the ticket – it will happen! Res CC. 3, Tinsley’s German Dandies Terence Hill at Cloverwood. Well-exposed mustard dog of good make and shape with great head and masculine expression, first-class coat and presentation, but not moving as well behind as the first two. 1, Bell’s Hawkesmill Indigo from Reidswire; 2, Sleight’s Bonnybeck Moonlight Bay. VETERAN BITCH (4, 1): 1, Kurg’s Puddockswell Hootin’ Annie at Etsill, mustard girl; a fit, good mover, pleasing expression and excellent coat – a good example for her age; 2, Buckley’s Puddockswell Sweet Phoebe, similar to the winner, but failing in hind movement; 3, Kinsey Morgan’s Inzievar Gold Edition, another mustard girl; not shown in the best of coats and needs to move better both ways. 1, Bromley’s Mishada Vibrant Amber, well-named mustard with a great hard double coat and deep colour. Good head and expression. I was drawn to her excellent topline and tail carriage. Movement ok, but she tends to lean out; 2, Buckley’s German Dandies Violetta, another mustard with good head and expression. Moved ok but failed in topline – rather flat; 3, Harcourt-Morris’ Dainty Dandies Royal Dutch Emma, similar to 2, but smaller; in good coat but needs time to settle on the move. 1, Russell’s Hawkesmill Ishbelle, sweet and feminine pepper. Good expression, good topline, excellent jacket and well presented. Moved and showed well; 2, Nice’s Cassencarrie Cleo Rose, mustard with more substance than the winner, in good jacket but lacking in topline, moved well both ways, but carrying too much condition; 3, Bell’s Dandiroyal Rita Skeeter, petite mustard, moved well but lacking in topline. 1, Chapman-King’s Inzievar Gold Spark; super mustard in top coat. Beautiful colour and excellent presentation. Best of heads, excellent expression, good topline, correct tail carriage, which was maintained on the move. Movement true both ways and she pushed the ticket winner hard to win the Res CC; 2, Jacka-Slater’s Cloverwood Duchess May, another excellent mustard. Good expression and head, presented in good coat with good topline and excellent movement. She will make it, but is just a little immature at the moment; 3, Denham’s Dentgate Fire Opal, very feminine pepper with sweet expression. Moved well, but lacking coat condition. OPEN BITCH (10, 0): 1, Jarvis’s Inzievar Summer Gold at Mosterlada, lightly shown mustard with the best of heads and very feminine expression. Ideal conformation, classic topline, excellent jacket and correct tail carriage, which she kept on the move. Movement was true both ways. I was pleased to make her up on the day and, taking coat and condition into consideration, she shaded it over her brother for the top spot. CC and BoB; 2, Blixt’s Int/Dan/Nor/Sw Ch Inzievar Glittering Gold, a beautiful mustad bitch, new to me but took the eye easily. Well presented, with excellent head and expression, good shoulders and topline, tail set ok and moved well both ways; 3, Ray’s Ch Dentgate Sweet Symphony, mustard with great head and very feminine expression; moved well but lacked the topline of the first two. 1, Kelly’s Bonnybeck Delilah Creek, sound mustard with good head and expression. Movement ok, but carrying too much condition. Brian Kerrush (Judge).
