Unfortunately there were several absentees. Quality was mixed, as was movement but there were no bad mouths. At times I struggled to find the correct unique Dandie outline, some lacked the desired well angled hindquarters which made them look rather stern high. Coats were mostly OK but those of any length with pencilling were in the minority. Some lacked the required soft, linty undercoat. Apologies for rushing those in the later bitch classes. Because the two previous breeds were running badly behind schedule, Dandies did not get into the ring until an hour or more after they were scheduled & I had to hurry to get my BOB into the big ring for the group but we made it. VD (3) 1 Coleman’s Follycott Frank Lee, 10 years pepper, carrying his years well, good strong head with pleasing expression, strong bone, straight front, deep chest, good neck & shoulders, in good coat. Moved well, just lost his topline slightly on the move but I forgave him this; 2 MacInnes’ Ch Glencobo Wrekin Lad at Bettymac, another 10 year old, smaller pepper, well presented, good head, ears & topknot, nice expression, correct topline & tailset. Coat not quite as good as 1’s. Moved well & enthusiastically; 3 Milliner’s Zanneus Zachary of Millerim, 7 years mustard, typical head & expression. Coat not at its best & hind movement let him down. PD (5) 1 Miller’s Puddockswell Moonshadow, very promising 10 months pepper, lovely head & expression, correct front, coat, topline & tailset, good legs & feet, moved well. BP; 2 Culverhouse’s Cassencarrie Gandalf at Lykath, another 10 months puppy, mustard, good head with profuse topknot, would benefit from a little more hair on the muzzle. Correct outline & coat, moved well; 3 Hansford’s Cassencarrie Bonnie Lad, 10 months pepper, nice head & expression, good coat. A little bit leggy. JD (2,1a) 1 Tinsley & Macbeth’s Hendell Tom Smart at Cloverwood, attractive, well presented pepper, good head with profuse topknot, correct shaped body, good neck & shoulders, lovely pencilled coat, moved well when he settled. PGD (9,4) 1 France’s Torbrae Dance N Dazzle, small mustard, well presented, beautiful head & expression, thin ears, short legs but correct outline, lovely double coat, moved well; 2 Osbourne’s Puddockswell Amber Melody for Braego, larger mustard with pleasing expression, strong head with big teeth, good topline & tailset, steady mover; 3 Smethurst’s Dawsholm Dapper Davoc, small pepper dog with strong skull, nice dark eyes & expression, good front, shapely body & correct topline, moved well. LD (6,1) 1 Carter’s Cassencarrie James Blonde, smart mustard with lovely head, neck & shoulders, correct length of body with pleasing topline, good tailset, correct coat, good legs & feet, moved with drive. RCC; 2 Denham’s Scottsbairn Duke Of Ross, attractive pepper, well presented, good head & topknot, long body with correct outline, good coat. Perhaps a little too fond of his tail which rather detracts when moving but he is sound; 3 Clark’s Saredon Rainman, mustard, smaller dog, more workmanlike than 1 & 2 & not quite the same head proportions. In good hard condition, rich mustard coat, perhaps a little too harsh. Showed well for his young handler. OD (4,1) 1 Buist & Jamieson’s Ch Inzievar Silver Gilt, beautiful pepper I have given top honours to before, fits the Standard perfectly, such a strong head, lovely topknot, expression, neck & front, strong bone, good feet, lovely pencilled coat, probably the best of the day, perfect topline which he holds on the move, sound as a bell. CC & BOB; 2 Hows & Winch’s Mishahda Rhapsody In Blue, pleasing pepper with a lot to like, strong head, kind expression, well proportioned body with deep chest, correct length & topline. Now has a lovely double coat, compared to when he was young, his owner is to be congratulated on getting it right. Steady mover, showed well; 3 Deacon’s Mishahda Midas Touch, mustard dog I have admired in the past but he was sadly lacking in coat. Lovely head & eye, good neck & well laid shoulders, correct outline & tailset, moved & showed well. VB (5,2) 1 Heywood’s Ch Schalulleke Lizzy Weaver, 7 years mustard, pleasing head & eye, good neck, shoulders & topline, long body with correct outline & tailset. Would have liked to have seen a little more undercoat. Free, sound mover; 2 MacInnes’ Bettymac Elizabeth, 9 years, small pepper with good, pencilled coat, pretty head & expression, good outline, moved & handled well; 3 Bennie’s Bettymac Victoria Mae, litter sister to 2. Sorry, no notes on this one, she disappeared after the class, but I do remember her coat was rather sparse. PB (6,4) Shame there were 4 absentees in this class, I always enjoy judging puppies. 1 Brookes’ Berdinbrook Pandora, small pepper with correct head proportions & sweet expression, correct outline & topline, good, pencilled coat, lovely to see nice tan feet not often seen nowadays. Moved very well; 2 Hewitt’s Clearwater Memphis Belle, mustard, would like to see this bitch in better coat as she is quite promising. Good head & expression. I thought her topline was a little flat & she was not as shapely as 1. Good free mover but needs to tighten in front. JB (4) 1 Green’s Inzievar Rose Gold for Abbeywater, outstanding mustard bitch, lovely head & thin ears, pretty expression, lovely flowing lines, good neck set into well laid shoulders, perfect pencilled coat & good tailset, moved very well. CC; 2 Osbourne’s Pitfirrane Silver Lady of Braego, pepper, what I would call an old fashioned, workmanlike bitch compared to some nowadays that are over glamourised. Good head, lovely eyes, correct outline, crisp coat with lovely tan feet, moved freely; 3 C Memphis Belle. PGB (13,5) 1 Heywood’s Schalulleke Clara Jones, pPretty little mustard with a lot to like, good head with lovely expression, big teeth, nice length of neck, good shoulders, front & topline. Would like just a little more undercoat. Moved very well; 2 Hislop’s Inzievar Gold Edition, another small mustard, very feminine with pretty head & expression, lovely neck, front & shoulders, correct outline & tailset, in good coat, moved well; 3 Denham’s Dentgate Serendipity, attractive pepper with good head, neck & shoulders, very good front, correct topline & shapely body, good double coat, moved quite well. LB (6) 1 I Rose Gold for A, I was later informed that winning this class qualified her for her JW; 2 Hughes’ Maganbar Morning Mist, attractive pepper with good head & beautiful eyes giving lovely melting expression, good, dark coat & shapely body, correct tailset, moved very well with her handler’s encouragement; 3 Weatherstone’s Schalulleke Blueprint for Borderstone, another dark pepper, well balanced body, beautiful head & melting expression, strong neck, good shoulders, correct coat, steady mover. OB (6,2) 1 Cameron’s Ch Inzievar Silver Bonnet, pepper, litter sister to my BOB, same remarks apply, super head with lovely eyes & melting expression, correct outline & perfect coat, well presented, excellent mover. RCC; 2 Hughes’ Maganbars Play Misty For Me, another lovely pepper, very close to 1. Just lost out slightly on head. Very good body with perfect topline & tailset, correct double coat. Doesn’t always show with great enthusiasm but was fine here, obviously liked the carpet; 3 Kerrush’s Ch. Inzievar Gold Ring, another very nice mustard bitch, pretty, feminine head, fine ears, good outline, neck & shoulders, happy temperament, movement good. GCB (1) 1 Bailey’s Stinchcombe Rosa Mundi, workmanlike little pepper. Head could be stronger but good outline & coat, nice tan markings, sweet temperament, very sound mover.
