DANDIE DINMONT CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 15 Judge: Mrs M MacDonald-Cross BEST OF BREED : 4736 JARVIS Mrs E & Mr J A C Inzievar Summer Gold at Mosterlada DANDIE DINMONT JUDGE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 15 Dandie Dinmont Terriers My thanks to the officers & committee for the invitation to judge this lovely breed. The situation with regard to choice in dogs as compared to bitches was pretty well the same as when I did the breed three years ago – fewer good dogs but lots of choice in the bitches. I was pleased to find only two incorrect bites. This is very much a profile breed & I am glad to say I found fewer Dandies lacking in the required body shape than was the case in the past. Hind movement was quite erratic at times, bur something which needs addressed is the lack of spring of rib in many exhibits giving a narrow slab sided effect. Temperament as ever was super & I thank the exhibitors round the ring for the sporting way in which they greeted my decisions. VD (1) 1 Buckley’s Dentgate Celebration, smart 7 years pepper with nicely proportioned head, good skull, strong muzzle with very good complete dentition. Lovely expression. Good front assembly & body shape. Shown in quality coat & profuse topknot. Happy showman enjoying every moment of his day out. PD (3) 1 Booth’s Borderstone Kingman, 11 months pepper of lovely breed type. Super head of correct proportions. Dark eye & melting expression. Nicely muscled neck leading into well laid shoulders. The desired weasely body shape with good spring of rib. Nice length to height ratio. Good quality jacket. He is such a showman in the making! When he settles to the job he moves really soundly both ends. Excellent quarters with well turned stifles & hocks well let down. One whose career I shall follow with interest. BP & was in strong contention for the RCC; 2 Wager’s Inzievar Border Silver, another pepper with only a day separating these two in age. Not the head of 1 but sweet expression, good muzzle & bite. He has a good neck leading into a nice front assembly, good outline & proportions. Not so masculine as 1 but moves with great enthusiasm; 3 Perrin’s Bonnyback Ocean Breeze. JD (2) 1 I Border Silver; 2 B Ocean Breeze, 10 months mustard, 3rd in PD. Heavier type all through. Good expression & correct bite. Sound enough mover, but lacks the low weasely body required by the Standard. Rather short of coat on the day. Super temperament. PGD (2) 1 Kurg’s Hawkesmill Jefferson at Etsill, just out of junior, this pepper has a lovely head with good skull & muzzle proportions. Dark eye giving lovely expression. Strong muzzle & bite. His muscular neck leads into well laid shoulders & good front. Correct body shape, well sprung rib & super quarters. This eyecatching youngster can, at times, show lack of enthusiasm, but his good forehand & quarters really drive him round the ring with total soundness. He is sporting abundant topknot & head furnishings for his age & his body coat is in transition. However, under this coat is a very well constructed Dandie & this is what won him the RCC spot; 2 Hayes & Harrod’s Etsill Rognvald, 3 years pepper a little overshadowed by 1, not the head nor so masculine throughout. Good expression, good neck & outline, shown in mature coat but not the ultra soundness of 1. LD (5) 1 Noble’s Hawkesmill Indiana, coming up 2½ years. Super headed pepper dog, nice topknot & with dark hazel eyes giving melting expression. Nice broad skull & strong muzzle with good bite. His correctly shaped body is covered by a quality coat. Such good breed type. Moving soundly both coming & going, really well handled & presented. Strongly considered him for the RCC but the extra masculinity of his half brother was the deciding factor; 2 Bell’s Hawkesmill Indigo from Reidswire, close decision between these litter brothers. Many of the above remarks apply to Indigo as he also has a lovely head with good expression, nice neck & shoulders, well sprung rib & correct weasely shape. Shown in good quality coat & appears very keen to please his handler. However, not so true in front move movement as Indiana; 3 Rolland’s Dandiroyal Diggory Delvet. OD (2) 1 Deacon’s Ch Cassencarrie Choirmaster, this is the first time I have seen this 2¾ years pepper. He has a pleasing head with good skull, strong muzzle & bite. Nice head furnishings & topknot. Good dark eye & kindly expression. His well shaped body is covered by a well presented quality coat. Good legs & feet, his quarters are good with well angulated stifles & well let down hocks. Moves soundly both ends. Good ratio of length to height & a nice degree of masculinity completes the picture of this honest Dandie. CC; 2 Edwards’ Cloverwood Midnight Blue, 4 years pepper. Larger & stockier dog all through than 1. Strong head with profuse topknot. Dark eye & pleasing expression. Moved well enough on good legs & feet. Preferred the size & body shape of 1. VB (2,1) 1 Kinsey-Morgan’s Inzievar Gold Edition, 8 years mustard lady of good breed type. Shown in nice crisp jacket, she is very feminine with good dark eye, sweet expression & correct full bite. Nice head & topknot slightly spoiled by fly-away ears. Good neck, nice front, correct body shape. Moves soundly for her handler. PB (5,1) 1 Shore’s Mishanda Golden Chestnut at Swanwillow, 10 months mustard of quality. Not a small girl, but beautifully proportioned. Lovely headpiece with good skull, expression, stop, muzzle & bite. Well shaped body with good rib/loin ratio & covered in a coat of super texture. Moved really well for her handler. It was a close decision for BP. Just preferred the size of the stunning dog puppy; 2 Harcourt-Morris’ Dainty Dandies Royal Dutch Emma, another mustard, 2 months younger than 1 & very much the baby in comparison. She presents a lovely outline with her correct low weasely body. Sweet ultra feminine head & expression, nice neck & front assembly & general development as 1 would expect at this age. Good jacket coming through. Obviously needs to settle to the job in the ring but time is on her side; 3 Hubbard’s Bonnybeck Crystal Cascade. JB (4,1) 1 Jacka-Slater’s Cloverwood Duchess May, 16 months mustard who really caught my eye as she came into the ring. Her development is just right for her age. So feminine throughout. Sweetest of heads with lovely proportions of skull to muzzle. Super expression & correct bite. Her body shape is spot on with well sprung ribs & lovely rib/loin ratio. Covered in a quality jacket, she moves very soundly both ends. All this lovely young lady needs is time bringing maturity & she is surely one for the upper house! 2 Powis & Mallen’s Siwop Black Baccara Rose, pepper just a day out of puppy so giving a lot away in maturity in this class. Another oozing femininity & with sweet head & expression. She too has a lovely body shape & length to height ratio. Not so sound moving behind as 1 but a quality exhibit; 3 Keevil & Keevil-Bullock’s Yazga Lady Of The Island. PGB (1,1). LB (4) 1 Milton’s Hawkesmill Jenny for Wilmit, 19 months quality pepper, another that just caught my eye immediately. A lovely fronted bitch with balanced feminine head & pleasing expression, strong muzzle & correct bite. Nice neck leads into good shoulder placement. Presents a stunning outline with correct body shape, nicely muscled & with well sprung ribs. Good legs & feet. Shown in coat of good texture, she shows nonstop for her handler. Surely a young lady on the way to her title. I was pleased to award her the RCC; 2 Russell’s Hawkesmill Ishbelle, nice typy pepper of 2 years 4 months. Feminine head & expression. Super topknot. She has good body shape with a quality coat just coming through. Although older than 1, her half-sister, she appears less mature & has not the balance of 1, being just a little too much up on the leg for length of body. This breeder must be pleased with the successes of these two litters currently being shown on the circuit. Congratulations; 3 Rolland’s Dandiroyal Puddleglum. OD (3) 1 Jarvis’ Inzievar Summer Gold at Mosterlada, here came the star of the day for me. 3 years mustard just oozing quality & ring presence. Not the smallest of Dandie bitches but so feminine & beautifully constructed throughout. Best muscletone of the day! Her head is of outstanding quality with such gorgeous expression, lovely skull, stop & muzzle & correct dentition. Great body shape, well sprung ribs & well boned legs & feet. Beautifully prepared coat of excellent texture. Her super construction powers her round the ring in great style. She is just so sound! She was sympathetically handled to get the very best from her & the duo seemed to have great rapport. This lady comes from a very successful litter as her two siblings are both Ch. This was her second CC today with BOB & I was delighted to hear she finished G3. Hope her third ticket comes soon; 2 Denham’s Dentgate Hollyberries, pepper, 5 months younger & not so mature as 1. Sweet headed with pretty feminine expression. Would have liked more body shape, but shown in excellent coat & moving very well for her handler; 3 Kinsey-Morgan’s Inzievar Gold Effect.
