DANDIE DINMONT BLACKPOOL 14 Judge(s): MR R IRVING Dandie Dinmont Terriers Not a big entry with 25 dogs entered & 7 absent so only 18 exhibits present. I think fronts generally are a matter for attention. Also there were quite a few with light eyes & a few with rather small eyes. Neither of these faults help expressions. I was pleasantly surprised by coats which were, on the whole, pretty good. V (1) 1 Smith’s Somercloud Starprize at Glendandy, 7 years, correct in topline, OK in head & had a good colour of eye. Enough muzzle. Was inclined to hop, skip & jump a little when moving in this ring. Coat not at its best yet. PD (2) 1 Rolland’s Dandiroyal Diggory Delvet, more mature & better behaved here than 2 which is what took him to the first position. Good coat & OK behind. Correct in topline without being overdone there. Just a shade overdone in stop. Front could be better. Plenty of body substance; 2 Young’s Inzievar The Goldsmith, a very pleasing puppy with lots of promise but needs a bit more ring training & a bit more coat at this stage. Good in head for his age & will be good for size. Seemed good in topline & proportions. Just needs to keep his head up & concentrate better on the job in hand! YD (3,1a) 1 Bell’s Hawkesmill Indigo, a much more mature youngster than 2, pleasing in head & OK in eye, good topline which he holds well in the move. Good in coat & rib. Moved better behind than in front; 2 I The Goldsmith. LD (3) 1 Kerrush’s Inzievar Silver And Gold, scored well for topline which he held well on the move & shown in very good coat of the correct texture, moved well behind with drive & enthusiasm & was better in front & tail than 2. Went on to win RCC; 2 Jacka-Slater’s Pennywave Lone Ranger, pleasing in head & expression with correct proportions of skull to muzzle. OK in eye. Coat is good but just coming in at this stage. Good for body shape. Moved better behind than in front & could be better in tail; 3 I The Goldsmith. OD (3) 1 Deacon & Pearce’s Ch Cassencarrie I Kid You Not, typical in head & skull with good eye. Good coat & moved pretty well in front, good feet & strong hindquarters. OK for size & pleasing in bone Went on to win CC; 2 Milliner’s Ir Ch Xenon Z Roxburku Sun at Millerim, good in head & skull, eye could be darker but OK for body outline & proportions. Not in the best of coats today, good tail but could be better in front; 3 I The Goldsmith. PB (4,2) 1 Rolland’s Dandiroyal Puddleglum, a very pleasing youngster with a good head & expression without being overdone. Excellent outline & moved pretty well in front & behind with one of the best fronts present on the day. Showed well & carried tail correctly. Good & typical coat especially for her age. Went on to win RCC; 2 Jacka-Slater’s Cloverwood Royal Rhea, lacked in maturity compared to 1 but promising & very good size. Coat coming in well for her age & head developing well. OK in outline. YB (2) 1 Bell’s Lannia Harvest Charm, good in head & expression with an excellent eye, Good topline, tailset & tail. Pleasing coat & good for size but needs a bit more body to complete the picture. Better behind than in front; 2 Milliner’s Dandiroyal Ferrywiggle at Millerim, good skull & correct head proportions. Eyes could be better. Very good tail. Better behind than in front. LB (3,1) 1 Henry’s Dariant Grace Mi Solar at Trinzy, very pleasing in head shape & proportions. Eye could be slightly larger to complete her expression. Not thin in body, but good in topline. Quite good in front compared to some others & moved well behind. Good in rib & enough depth of chest; 2 Smith’s Glendandy Twinkle Star, good in neck & topline & sadly coat not at its best. Has good bone & was better behind than in front. OB (6,2) 1 Corish’s Cloverwood Five Stars, pleasing youngster with a typical Dandie head & expression. Good in topline & not overdone there. Didn’t make the most of herself one hundred per cent of the time when on the move, but went well behind with plenty of drive. Good for size & had enough bone. Just the right length & proportions. CC & BOB; 2 Rolland’s Clossongrey Marshwiggle, another with a good head & pleasing in front. Moved well behind. Very good tail. Long enough in body though very typical in topline. Showed better than 3; 3 Deacon’s Swanwillow Signature. RONNIE IRVING |
