DANDIE DINMONT BLACKPOOL 12 Judge(s): MRS C E CARTLEDGE Dandie Dinmont Terriers What an awful day. I really appreciated the sporting way the exhibitors accepted not just my decisions but also the conditions. It was crystal clear the Dandies did not approve of these appalling conditions. The look on their faces when they stood on the table said it all. Movement was quite obviously impossible to assess. V (1) 1 Morris’ Hendell Tassel at Pennywave, 7 year mustard bitch, living the good life & carrying a little too much weight. Attractive head, appealing eyes saying "I’m a Dandie, get me out of here”. Stripped coat, picking her way through the mud & not enjoying herself. PD (2) 1 Jacka-Slater’s Pennywave Lone Ranger, 6½ month, good head & eye, has the beginnings of a proper coat, firm body, good bone. Tried hard to get moving but there was quite a bit of hopping. Happy showman. BP: 2 Skitt Marshall’s Deegandan Dughall, 7 month, well grown puppy with large expressive eyes, pleasing head, in his underclothes, well bodied. Lively & bouncy but no coordination & who could blame him. YD (1) 1 Deacon & Pearce’s Cassencarrie I Kid You Not, mustard birthday boy, excellent head, large round eyes, muscular neck, strong body, well muscled hindquarters, good coat. Topline will improve as he matures. Showed steadily, well presented & handled. RCC. PGD (0). LD (5) 1 Miller’s Puddockswell Moon Shadow at Dryfevalley, the only one who made a vague attempt at moving with a bit of fluency. Attractive head, excellent coat texture, good body & rib, sympathetically handled; 2 Bromley’s Mishada Volcanic Storm, up to size, masculine head, good bone. Tail carriage rather gay. Well bodied. Not very enthusiastic; 3 Sleight’s Cassencarrie Bobby Vee at Bonnybeck. OD (6) 1 Tinsley’s Cloverwood Royal George, mustard, broad skull, expressive eyes, great character & was all for playing his handler up. Coat in good order, held topline going round & looked well standing, good bone, better front than most, well proportioned. CC; 2 King’s Ch Vistca Vian of Hendell, mustard, really hated the conditions, his facial expression was full of disgust. Good bone, legs & feet, firm body, well conditioned & handled. Movement impossible to assess; 3 Morris’ Cassencarrie Rumour Has It at Pennywave. PB (1) 1 Brookes’ Berdinbrook Tea Wynd, 11 month, very feminine puppy, came in dry footed but it didn’t last. Good coat & topline, well proportioned. Failed in movement & showmanship. YB (5) 1 Skitt Marshall’s Duneideann Limited Edition, 16 month mustard, quality head, lovely eyes full of expression, fit body, good bone & coat, moved & showed with some style; 2 Smith’s Glendandy Twinkle Star, 22 month mustard but too proud of her tail but today conditions were not normal. Feminine head, focused showgirl standing but not too happy about the wet cold mud when moving; 3 Miller’s Puddockswell Truly Scrumptious at Dryfevalley. PGB (5) Difficult class of mixed quality. 1 Rasmussen’s Dentgate Summer Sunrise, mustard, coped quite well with the ground. Pleasing head, large eyes, good body & bone, trotted up & down quite well. Handler could make a bit more of her when posed; 2 Bell’s Kirkhalin Mystic Prudence, feminine bitch, well fitting coat, firm body, well muscled, showed OK; 3 Brookes’ Berdinbrook Ecco. LB (6) 1 Ray’s Dentgate Sweet Symphony, mustard, good quality & type, sensible showgirl with good attitude, typical head, dark intelligent eyes, excellent coat texture, kept going to the bitter end. RCC; 2 Kinsey-Morgan’s Inzievar Gold Effect, mustard, preferred eye & expression of 1. Good bone, body & coat, fair topline. Not great in hind movement but looked quite well once she got herself going; 3 Smith’s Somercloud Starprize at Glendandy. OB (8) 1 Russell’s Ch/Aust Ch Jollygaze Hopeless Romantic for Hawkesmill, good solid performer throughout, pepper, in good form, determined showgirl & never gave up standing there defying the elements & wagging her tail. Splendid coat, good topline & body, muscular neck, well domed forehand, good bone & feet. Did enough on the move to secure the CC & BOB; 2 Chapman-King & Hislop’s Ch Inzievar Royal Silver, pepper, carrying just a shade too much weight. God coat, typey bitch but not really in the mood to put her best foot forward & picking her way through the deep puddles; 3 Deacon’s Cassencarrie Miss Grace at Pennywave. LIZ CARTLEDGE |
