CESKY JDUGE CRUFTS 25

Grateful thanks to the Crufts Committee for their kind invitation to judge at this years show; it was a great honour and immensely enjoyable. Thank you to the exhibitors who entered their dogs under me resulting in a quality entry of the very best Cesky Terriers in the UK and equally excellent exhibits from overseas. VD (1) 1 Lewis’s Janski Philosopher Dajaces ShCEx VW Mid grey 8 year old dog with largely pleasing overall outline. Strong head with dark eyes and quite large ears, well set and carried correctly, correct bite. Presented to perfection but a little coarse of coat and his movement, unfortunately was rather ponderous on the day with somewhat stilted rear action. JD (1) Zajickova’s Galanthus Hamentashen. 12 month old dark grey dog. Nicely balanced overall with rectangular outline; strong head, good length of muzzle, good dentition with excellent bite. Good reach of properly arched neck, carried at the right angle, well laid shoulders and just enough rise to the topline, correctly placed over loin. A little overawed by the occasion resulting in a somewhat hunched stance when standing but this corrected itself in his strong, parallel and purposeful movement. PGD (2) 1 Bishop’s Pajantick Bertie Wooster. Dark grey 3 year old dog with excellent head, eyes, bite, muzzle and dentition. Good, straight front and strong neck correctly carried and running through to correct topline with just enough rise. Well presented in good condition with excellent coat texture but erring to overabundance. Nice sound and parallel movement going and coming and tail carriage acceptable. 2 Bishop’s Ulmo Bohemia des Hauteurs de la Sole at Kyntilly (Imp Fra). Mid grey 21 month old dog of good size and type; well balanced with good head and neck although lacking the muzzle length of 1 but nonetheless nicely arched neck correctly carried forward and leading to well laid shoulders and correct topline. Right coat texture, well presented. Unfortunately this lad chose to move in a somewhat unorthodox gait on the day. LD (6,1) 1 & RDCC Lewis’s Komidion Rychnovsky Dajaces ShCEx. I really liked this confident mid grey 5 year old dog presented in great coat and condition, pleasing and typical well balanced overall outline with correct rise over loin. Agreeably strong head with good length of muzzle, appealing expression, kind dark eyes, nice sized ears, well placed and correctly carried. Correct bite and particularly strong dentition. Albeit he moved with purpose, parallel front and rear he was unable to match the movement and showmanship of the BoB on the day. 2. Goundry’s Komidion Rimsky Korsakov at Sarminija. Litter brother to 1, similar in almost all respects and almost as well presented but carrying a little more weight which adversely affected the balance of his appearance on the move. 3 Harris’ Kessima One and Only. OD (4) 1, DCC & BoB Emperatriz’s Ch. Ives Des Bourdons Farouches WW21, ( I am well aware that this dog is entitled to an impressive list of pre and post nominals but in the absence of a catalogue I have only the rather scant information emailed me by the publisher) 6 year old mid to light grey dog of immense quality, a consummate showman and immaculately presented. Elegant and beautifully balanced in outline, fit and well muscled. Lovely head with strong muzzle and jaw correct bite and dentition. I found his beard to be a little overlength and his ears could be more triangular. Very clean front with graceful neck of just the right length, correctly carried forward. Good ribbing, enough rise in the right place over the loin and a strong engine room behind which he used to great effect on the move driving with a steady parallel propulsion. 2 Fewings Komidion Schubert, 3 year old mid grey dog of undoubtedly heavier stature than 1 but nonetheless of quality build; masculine head, good muzzle and jaw, correct bite, best arch of a strong neck carried at the correct angle and leading to a pleasing topline with good tailset. Nice front and pleasing rear angulation. Lost out to 1 on his movement which was less than true on the day. 3 Taylor’s Ch Oural Du Champ d’Eole (Imp Fra). GCD (1) 1 Marrett’s Jsy Ch Idefix Day Break at Gayteckels Pd’H, 11 year old mid grey dog with a rather moderately sized head on a nicely arched neck, a little long for me in his overall outline, moved impressively for his age with good drive and purpose albeit a bit fond of his tail. VB (4,2) 1, RBCC & BV Fewings Ch. Komidion Passionato VW, 8 year old dark grey bitch who I have rewarded previously. Correct size and proportions, well presented beautifully silky coat, feminine head with good length of muzzle and good sized ears. Straight front, good reach of neck, carried at the correct angle and with an unmistakably breed typical arch of the topline; correct tailset. Moved truly and steadily. 2 Marrett’s Gayteckels Bottoms Up Pd’H, 9 year old mid grey bitch of good size and proportions, presenting an attractive overall outline. Nice length of a feminine head, elegant neck and correct topline. Good angulation front and rear but her movement didn’t match her appearance today. PB (1) 1 & BP Richardson’s Alchemy Kiss Me Kate at Talyot (Imp Can). Very attractive 11 month old mid grey bitch of excellent outline and proportions with very nice length of head on well arched neck. Bright eye, scissor bite and good dentition. Albeit a little lacking in muscle tone her movement, in spite of being somewhat sporadic, was attractively jaunty with strong drive from the rear. Definitely one to watch. JB (1) 1 Thomson & Forbes’ Karensbrae Beebop. 15 month mid grey bitch of good make and longer proportions attractive but compact head, bright eye and well placed ears. Good reach of neck, well laid shoulders and correct topline. Stance didn’t show her rear angulation to any real benefit but moved freely and briskly. PGB (3) 1 Goundry’s Komidion Symphoniques at Sarminija. Unusually pigmented 3 year old bitch with dark grey head and mid grey other parts giving an attractive contrast. Good rectangular outline and nice compact proportions, presented with gleaming silky coat and in top condition. Nice long head and muzzle with powerful jaw, correct skull, largish ears well set, dark eye with great expression. Nicely arched neck, well laid shoulders and pleasing topline. Straight front and well angulated rear assembly, moved with some alacrity once settled. 2 Marrett’s Foxprims Marble Arch avec Gayteckels. 18 month old well proportioned petite light grey bitch presenting an attractive and well proportioned outline. Nice head and expression but bite could be better and so too her rear angulation on the day but moved freely and briskly nonetheless. 3 Mr Boden’s Adriana Caroline’s Dream. LB (2) 1 & BCC Harris’ Kessima Once in A Life Time. 4 year old dark grey bitch of nice, breed typical outline, prepared to the nth degree and presented in beautiful silky coat but a little too much of it for me. Long head and muzzle, triangular skull, lovely feminine expression, medium to large ears, well set and well carried, strong neck, carried correctly with strong well laid shoulders and excellent topline. Straight front, well sprung cylindrical ribbing and excellent rear angulation, moved accurately and steadily but she wasn’t going to be rushed and that detracted slightly from the overall picture. 2 Pratt’s Proxima Centauri. 4 year old mid grey bitch of altogether different type and composition to 1. More lightly constructed she presented a nicely balanced outline but with smaller head though equally elegant the upright carriage of her head and neck was to her detriment. Somewhat reluctant movement today, I have seen her move much better. OB (4) 1 Bonn’s Int/multi Ch Calendula Hamentashen. Beautiful silver grey 4 year old bitch of compact proportions without any exaggeration. Good head and divine expression, graceful neck, well laid shoulders and nice topline. Exuded elegance overall. Great stance showed her rear angulation to her benefit and although she moved with some drive it was a bit confused, I think resulting from her general reticence on the day which was a great shame. 2 Fewings’ Komidion Rhapsody in Ryme. 5 year old silver grey bitch, slightly larger than 1 and of longer proportions, presented in excellent but somewhat overabundant coat. Good long feminine head and muzzle; dark eye, correct bite and dentition. Elegant slightly arched neck well laid shoulders, cylindrical ribbing, strong loin and correct topline. Good angulation front and rear straight front and cylindrical ribbing. Rather overambitious in her movement which somewhat confused the issue. 3 Marrett’s Gayteckels Musical Melody. GCB (1) Marrett’s Gayteckels Sister Act Pdh. 9 year old mid grey bitch with attractive silver furnishings. Nice feminine head, dark eyes and well set ears correctly carried. Nice length of neck but carried a little upright, good straight front but rear angulation could be better and I feel that contributed in large part to her lack of propulsion on the move.
