CESKY LKA 14 Judge: Mr Russell Marett BEST OF BREED : 5960 HARRIS Mr D & Mrs G Lastarean Knezna Lenka of Kessima CESKY JUDGE LKA 14 Cesky Terriers There was a good entry at this show, especially seeing lots of new puppies around which bodes well for the future. There were a few concerns. There were four exhibits with straight incisors that went inside the top jaw, three of these were puppies. Nails were worryingly long as usual. Although these are minor points, they still impact on the health & wellbeing of the dogs. Breeders need to work on the body proportions of dogs as I found a large number either too tall or too long with little consistency in height/length ratio, especially in the bitches. Those that were too long often were not ribbed far enough back. MPD (3) 1 Lewis’ Ridley Xanto for Dajaces, good size for age, nice head without being too broad, nice earset, strong reach of neck, good rise over the loin, well angled, moved well; 2 Burrows’ Malicek Na Pendevour of Cesky Dream’s, too large for age, muzzle longer than ideal, better ear carriage than 1, correct rise of the loin, well angled, could have moved better; 3 Rusby’s Placido Chasing Moonbeams. PD (1) 1 Tobijanski’s Janski Bah Humbug, too broad in head & heavy across the shoulders, good topline, moves very well with a well carried tail. Could be shorter in body. Won BPD on maturity & subsequently BP due to BPB being withdrawn due to injury. PGD (2,1a) 1 Fewings’ Komidion Ostinato, moved well when settled but very nervous. Rather broad all through, especially in backskull. Good topline, nice easrset, good mouth, well angled. Could have done better if more relaxed. OD (3) 1 Tobijanski’s Janski Ceskasson Blue Moon, slightly heavier than I would like across the shoulders & slightly larger than I would prefer but still good height/length ratio. Nice head, good mouth, well angled, good tail carriage, topline could be better, moved well when settled. BD; 2 Atter & Bowerman’s Ridley Tomas, preferred the type of this dog but broader all through, teeth could be cleaner, better topline than 1, did not move as well; 3 Forbes’ Blackthorpe River Musk at Lastarean. VD (1) 1 Lewis’ Komidion Fanfare Dajaces, fantastic for 12½ years, still moves well, great teeth for age, broader than I would prefer across the shoulders, good earset, well angled, just holds topline still on the move. RBD on his better proportions & BV over the bitch due to his better movement. GCD (2,1) B River Musk at L, too long in body, nice topline, not too broad as most seem to be. Preferred his earset to 1 & 2 in OD. Too loose in elbows, could be ribbed further back due to his length. MPB (6,1) 1 Tobijanski’s Maceska Na Janski of Cesky Dream’s, slightly broad in head, good body proportions & well angled, well ribbed back, nice topline, moved well once settled. Won on maturity. BPB; 2 Thomson & Forbes’ Karensbrae Don’t Shut Me Out, topline still needs to firm due to length of body which is slightly longer than I would prefer, could be ribbed further back as a result, well angled, more feminine than 1, moved well when settled, promising; 3 Thomson & Forbes’ Karensbrae Frozen Heart. PB (3) 1 K Don’t Shut Me Out; 2 K Frozen Heart, promising puppy, as with her litter sister she was slightly long in body & therefore could be ribbed further back, narrower all through than 1, needs more confidence. Better head than 1 & 3. Beat 3 on maturity & substance; 3 Rusby’s Intelligence Day Break at Placido. JB (3) 1 Clark’s Ridley Vyborna, good height/length ratio but far too broad all through making her very heavy. Her large volume of coat made her look even heavier. She was a nice type, well angled, great topline, & moved well with attitude; 2 K Don’t Shut Me Out; 3 K Frozen Heart. PGB (3,1) 1 Rusby’s Grancek Olexa at Placido, better height/length ratio than 2, rear angulation better than front, OK topline, needs more confidence to drive out; 2 Harris’ Pendevour Pollyanna of Kessima, better ear carriage than 1 but ears rather small, better angulation all round, too tall on the leg, moved OK. OB (4,1) 1 Harris’ Lastarean Knezna Lenka of Kessima, my BP at Bath 2012, she has matured nicely, great angulation, best topline in the class, could be a fraction shorter in the leg to be picky, nice size ears, moved briskly. BB & BOB over the dog due to her better body proportions & topline, & moved with more drive; 2 Harris’ Pendevour Pheel The Music of Kessima, small ears but better earset than 1, slightly long in muzzle, prefer fraction shorter in leg again, good topline, moved well; 3 Roberts & Smith’s Placido Algebra at Rayol. VB (1) 1 Fewings’ Komidion Jacara, great for age, well-proportioned & great angulation, good earset, topline still perfect for age, moved well but not the movement of BVD. RBB. RUSSELL MARETT
