CESKEY JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 11

CESKY TERRIER

It was an honour and a pleasure to judge this interesting and challenging breed at the greatest Dog show in the world. In general I found the quality high and presentation was excellent. Some dogs obviously did not like the rather bustling atmosphere of the NEC and did not show to advantage, which influenced some of my placings. I have followed the recent discussion about tail carriage in the breed and probably some of my winners carried their tail in a rather enthusiastic way, however I certainly prefer this to tails tightly clamped between hind legs due to nervousness. Apparently the same dogs have won Best Dog and the Best Bitch now for the fourth consecutive year. A fact I was certainly not aware off, but it shows that in this breed quality obviously lasts. I thought the BOB winner looked stunning in the Group and I was rather pleased that even 'dyed in the wool' Terrier men commented on her excellent performance.

VD (4)

1 Brown's Lastarean Dufek ShCM. Very fit young Veteran of outstanding breed type, very pleasing head with classical profile, strong well-kept teeth, well carried ears, smooth outline, good reach of neck, typical top-line, well-muscled and angulated hindquarters, moved freely and showed very well. Best Dog.

2 Lewis's Komidion Fanfare Dajaces. Scores on his lovely head with keen expression, sufficiently dark eye, very good skull, strong lean muzzle, good bite, excellent top-line, moved and showed well, preferred front of 1.

3 Fraser's Woodstrode Artus. Nicely balanced dog of honest type, decent head with dark well shaped eye, sufficient reach of neck, good bone, preferred the elegance and performance of 1 & 2.

SpJD (3)

1 Igglesden & Samson's Pendevour Phelix At Shasgav. Smart youngster with showy attitude, nicely balanced head with strong long muzzle, very good front, clean neck and typical top-line, a bit proud of his tail but wins on his front assembly, movement and performance.

2 Burrows' Pendevour Pierrot. His lovely balance and correct proportions fills the eye, very pleasing head with classical profile, strong jaws, big teeth, would prefer slightly stronger front, good reach of neck and top-line, moves with sufficient drive from behind.

3 Atter & Livingston's Rossau Voodoo. Rather compact thick-set young dog, decent head with sufficient length of fore-face, strong bite, stands a touch close in front and could move with a bit more drive from behind.

PGD (6)

1 Airey's Nordham Misty Moonlight. Stands out in this class for style, balance and elegance, pleasing head with masculine expression, strong front, good reach of neck and decent top-line, well angulated hind-quarters, according to his conformation moved well, an attractive show dog but at the same time could see him doing his job as a working terrier.

2 Hammond's Oneva Elegant. Really nicely balanced dog with masculine expression, strong boned front, excellent top-line, well-shaped rib-cage, moved ok but not quite the showmanship of 1.

3 Grant's Grancek Illya.

OD (9,2)

1 Kear's Vandell Sweet Music. Heads a strong class of different types, eye-catching dog with masculine head and very pleasing outline, descent non-exaggerated reach of neck, strong back with correct raise, solid front and well-muscled and angulated hindquarters, really scored on the move and showed with attitude, ok in coat, another one I can see doing his job in the Moravian woods and certainly fit for purpose! Res.BD.

2 Withers' Fr/Lux/Swiss/Int Ch Captain Crochet Du Champ D Eole. Very much the sharply beautifully presented show dog, well-proportioned head with excellent profile, dark well shaped eye, strong bite, ok in front, decent top-line, very well presented and in excellent coat, but not the performance and free movement of 1.

3 Marett's Lastarean Kral Of Zidout. Masculine dog of honest type, clean outline with decent head, sufficient length of fore-face, well boned front, excellent top-line, ok in hind-quarters, moved and showed well.

Good Citizen Dog Scheme - Dog (2)

1 Marett's Lastarean Kral Of Zidout.

2 Fraser's Woodstrode Artus.

VB (4)

1 Atter's Gloria Kvitko ShCM (IMP CZE). Presented in fantastic condition for age, truly feminine with distinct expression, nicely balanced head with strong bite and exceptionally good dentition for age, decent front, well arched neck, genuine top-line, strong hind-quarters, well set and carried tail, moved with purpose and showed very well.

2 Marett's Malsville Lincoln Ridley. Incredible 13 years old, very good overall type and still has kept a typical outline, pleasing head and eye, very good teeth for age, not quite the movement of 1 anymore but showed well, a credit to the owner.

3 Marett's Gayteckels Highflyer PDH. Another charming oldie, slightly sturdier in frame with sufficient neck, nicely balanced head and good expression, not the front of 1 & 2, but showed well.

SpPB (3)

1 Marett's Lastarean Grace And Favour For Gayteckels. Despite her age already very mature and very pleasing overall picture, very nicely balanced head with well carried ears, classical profile, strong bite with striking teeth, well-constructed front with well-padded strong feet, sound hindquarters, coat ok for age, moved and showed well BP.

2 Rusby's Rylandson Zeleny Hora At Placido. Another nicely balanced youngster of good overall breed type, pleasing head with dark well set eyes, long fore-face with strong bite, ok in top-line, good hind-angulation, coat and colour sort of in-between, moved and showed well.

3 Brown's Lastarean Kelsee. Mature bitch build on longer scope, decent head with typical expression, did not give her best on the day.

SpJB (1)

1 Harris's Pendevour Pollyanna. Not fully mature, but pleasing overall balance and good breed type, nicely balanced head with dark well set eyes, strong bite, strong well boned front, typical top-line, well-muscled and angulated hindquarters, correct tail-set, shows ok and time is on her side.

PGB (7)

1 Harris's Pendevour Pheel The Music. Truly eye-catching bitch of very good breed type and pleasing balance, equally typical and feminine in expression, pleasing head with long strong foreface, correct bite with big teeth, strong front, big well-padded feet, typical top-line, strong hindquarters with low-set hocks, presented in excellent coat and condition, self-assured and good movement, unfortunate to meet the winner of Open in such great form. RBB.

2 Verwaerde's Darling Du Champs D'Eole [ATC AJ01507FRA]. Standing this bitch pleased me enormously, excellent shape and truly balanced outline, classical head and expression, decent conformation and very good construction, presented in lovely coat and condition, just wish she would have performed better.

3 Fewings' Komidion Madrigal. Honest bitch of good proportions, good length of body, good head with correct skull, long strong fore-face, good front and top-line, not the coat of 1 & 2.

OB (7,1)

1 Tobijanski's Janski Celtic Ceska. Was my BOS at the Club show few years ago, on that occasion she decided to behave rather obnoxious, which cost her BIS. This time she behaved impeccably and showed to perfection. In many ways represents the ideal for the breed. Simply looked stunning from all angles and just cannot stand wrongly. Classical head of true breed type, most lovely outline of harmonious lines, presented in perfect condition, even excels on the move with her effortless stride and drive, most impressive performance and will be a hard act to follow. BOB.

2 Fewings' Komidion Jacara ShCM. Another bitch of lovely shape and classical outline, very typical head with strong bite, well-constructed, moved and showed ok but not quite as positive as 1.

3 Verwaerde's Fr/Bel/Int Ch Clochette Du Champs D'tole [ATC AK00180FRA]. Mature bitch of very good overall type and balance, excellent head with good profile, strong bite, not quite the top-line of 1 & 2 and could have performed better.

Good Citizen Dog Scheme - Bitch

1 Atter's Ridley Pamatka ShCM. Nicely balanced dual-purpose bitch, typical without exaggerations, head with equally feminine and typical expression, moved and showed well.

2 Forbes' Oneva Erica At Karensbrae. Another honest bitch of overall good breed type, balanced head with typical expression, sound body with good bone, moved and showed ok, preferred top-line of 1.
