CAIRN JUDGE WELSH KC 09

Cairn Terrier

It was a real pleasure judging cairns at the WKC Ch. Show, thank you all for giving me the opportunity.
In general terms I felt there are been some improvement in movement and presentation and all the dogs were clean. However I have some concerns with heads.
Some expressions, on otherwise good cairns , were spoilt for me by large round eyes and the degree of fullness, which is usually obvious, was missing from under the eyes, giving the effect of a weak foreface. Our breed would just not be the same if that very special ‘expression’ disappeared

MPD. (2)

1. Weinbergers Correnie Tornado.: Active, balanced wh. br. Loved his typical head with good stop and dark eye,
medium proportions all through, good tail set and good mover.

2. Peers Tweedisle Whiskey Mac.: Well bodied liked his overall balance, moved very freely keeping a level topline,
coat not at its best today, just preferred the expression of 1.

P.D. (7)

1. Mears Glenmear Marauder.: Just loved this dark br. Puppy, very good head with good sized teeth and wicked expression, shown in full coat of good texture balanced throughout. Full of energy, moved soundly.
Gave his handler a hard time !.His maturity just won him Best Puppy.

2. Weinbergers Larchlea Come Fly with me to Correnie.: Very close up to 1, correct head with large teeth,
well angulated front and rear, good quality coat, just preferred overall movement of 1 on the day.

3.Shannon & Storrs Trouble at Mill.

G.D. (1)

1. Barneys Alfie Lunar Hopper.: I liked the size of this gr. Br., medium proportions throughout, correct head,
good coat, moved soundly.

PGD. ( 4: ab.1)

1. Gouds Vale of Atholls At Long Last.: This dog impresses with his masculinity and substance. He has a very nice head and overall balance, an excellent coat and moves soundly. I know he can be proud of his tail on occasion,
but his other qualities won him his place today.

2. King & Leightons Carradine Maybe the Moon at Harkinleigh.: Wh. Br. With lovely head enhanced by dark points,
well angulated fore and rear, kept level topline on move. just preferred the movement of 1 on the day.

3.Moseleys Spawyche Elizabethan Onyx

L.D. (5)

This was a very good class, some hard decisions here.

1.Inett & Harrisons Noncom Inett to Winnet at Carradine.: This dog catches the eye as soon as he enters the ring with his ‘ready for anything’ attitude. Wh. br. typical head with dark points, good mouth with large teeth, well angulated front and rear, correct tail set, excellent mover, well presented. Pleased to award him the CC ad BOB

2. King & Leightons Carradine Night Listener at Harkinleigh.: Well bodied wh br., good neck ,shoulders and tail set,
quality coat, well angulated., although he moved well thought 1 just had the edge.

3. Templetons Larchlea Time to Entertain.

O.D. (2)

1. Pollocks Larchlea Licence to Thrill at Stanedykes.: What a stunning dog this is, he has a super head complete with very large teeth, well proportioned throughout, good neck, shoulders, tailset, harsh coat, well presented.Very masculine dog who moved very well in his class, but played up a little in the challenge. Pleased to award him a very deserved Res CC.

2.Stephinsons Twohoots Barnabas.: Wh. br. Of correct proportions, beautiful head, well angulated front and rear,
good coat, well presented. Just preferred movement of 1 on the day.

MPB (2)

1. Osbourns Tweslam Winter Magic.: Very feminine red br. baby, lovely head and correct expression, harsh coat and moving soundly round the ring showing her good tail set and balanced outline, well presented.

2. Peers Tweedisle Pillow Dream.: Wheaten with attractive dark points and full of fun, bigger but not so mature as 1, pleasing head, when settled got a glimpse of good movement.

P.B. (7: ab 3)

1.Templetons Larchlea Can’t Remember.: Quality dark brindle puppy, best of heads, correct mouth with large teeth.
Liked her size and balance and sound construction, harsh coat and shown in hard condition. Moved very well.
Strong contender for best puppy, although the puppies were the same age the dogs maturity just pipped her at the post.

2. Gouds Vale of Atholl’s Bonnie Galloway.: Well named wheaten puppy with lovely head and expression,
smaller than 1, shown in excellent coat, well presented, moved very freely.

3. Williams Celtic Dancer At Jacqbridge

liked her head and expression , harsh coat. Handled well on the table, although she moved well, 1 had the edge here.

L.B. (4: ab 1)

1. Felters & Rumens Landbuck Jazz Hands.: I just loved this wheaten, she has the best of heads with correct eye and put together so well it shows in her excellent movement. Her harsh coat is still growing in and she is still sort of furnishings, which pegged her back in the challenge, but well deserved her res CC.

2. King, Leighton Inett & Harrisons Curtisey Foreign Account with Carradine.: Grey brindle, very good head,
liked her neck & shoulders and overall proportions moved well

3. Dolans Forever Topps.
