CAIRN JUDGE SCOTTISH BREEDS 19

dcc Firths' Cairngold Chico JW. rdcc Waugh's Tribannon Karamak. bcc & bob Petts' Brenndarcy Hunky Dory Among Doonrae. rbcc Catto's Birselaw Viking Princess. bp Inett, Clayton & Harrison's Carradine Jo. Thank you to this prestigious canine club for inviting me to judge our Cairn Terriers. Thank you also for the support of my stewards Sheona, Tracey and Adam Wallace the breed representative for the Scottish Breeds Canine Club for putting me forward to award tickets for the first time and of course all of our exhibitors who made my day a memorable one. I was thrilled with both of my line ups, but sad in a way that there were also others that I would have liked to have added. I feel that our breed specialist judges have given constructive critiques in the past and breeders are taking note of these. Presentation was on the whole one that you should be proud of. My main winners had lovely clean lines, and were well balanced. Forechests were much improved. Heads still not quite right for me, and there are still upright shoulders which prevents good length of necks running into a level topline and tail set and front movement is not as true as it should be. However I am sure that we will get there soon as our up and coming puppies and juniors show promise.

VD (2,1)

1 Saltmarsh & Lamb's Renshaw There And Back Again Under Macoon. 9 ½ years old, dark brindle dog. He stood alone in this class. masculine and shown in full coat, balanced for his size and well schooled on the table. He did not object to me going over him. Moved ok.

MPD (2)

1 Harrison & Inett's Carradine Kenda Karin. 8 month deep red coat, presented so well. Loved his size for his age, correct stop, neat ears which gave him an attractive masculine head. A good forechest, moved ok and with time he will tighten in front. Promising. Best Puppy Dog.

2 Petts' Doonrae Quiet Storm. 8 months, correct mouth, masculine head, clean shoulders, in between coat to complete his picture but then, he had nothing to hide. Well up on size would not like him any taller at this time for his age. Just prefered 1st today but then both showmen and they could quite easily change places in the future.

JD (2)

1 Waugh's Tribannon Karamak. 14 month, attractive cream dog, lovely head to body balance. Has correct neat ear placement which he used well on the table, good dentition. Correct front assembly, well sprung ribs, strong hind quarters, kept his topline on the move. even when he moved at speed around the ring making his handler struggle to keep up with him. Unfortunately he lost interest in the challenge. I did alow for items that were on the floor and distracted him. unfortuanately on the day he wasn't as animated as the cc winner. Res Dog CC.

2 Shannon & Storr's Brenndarcy Baldrick. 16 month wheaten brindle dog, a good outline with level topline, masculine head and correct expression, good muscle tone, moved better in front than rear today but he is a very happy young man.

ND (1)

1 Shannon & Storr's Cale Hill's Go Above And Beyond For Brenndarcy (Dnk Imp). 16 month dark brindle dog, masculine head, correct eye shape and colour, good topline, shown in good coat, movement a little wayward at times for his handler to control. Unfortunately he stood alone in this class, which I did not feel was the best for him as he is much more animated when he has competition in the ring.

PGD (5)

An exciting class for the future of the breed with some lovely boys in my opinion.

1 Firths' Cairngold Chico JW. 21 months very attractive red dog, good size, well balanced and lovely outline. Presented to perfection and in full coat. Head to die for with a good stop, correct muzzle and dentition, neat ears which completed the picture. Good length of neck and clean shoulders, good depth of ribcage and strong hind quarters, level topline and kept this on the table and on the move, pleased to see a dog with good leg hair but not overgroomed, moved well around the ring and at one with his handler. I did judge this dog last year and was "smitten" then and today he did not dissapoint. He has matured into a very smart boy and I foresee a good future for him. He can come and live with me anytime!!! Dog CC.

2 Harrison's Carradine Whiskey Oscar. 20 month red brindle dog, similar size and balance of 1st, good forechest which he seems to have passed onto his children. Masculine head, good topline and tailset to complete the overall picture, good rear muscle, moved ok, he is presented in full coat and groomed beautifully.

3 Miller's Cornton Fyne Fettle.

LD (1)

1 Lamb & Saltmarsh's Bireslaw Dark Charmer For Macmoon ShCM. Very dark brindle dog, stunning head with lovely dark eyes, I would have liked more neck but he is a lovely shape and in good condition shown in a good coat, moved ok. Stood alone in this class which is sometimes a dissadvantage with no other dogs to take an interest in.

OD (4,1)

Another strong class, any of these boys could change place on another day.

1 Ball's Lentrica Lets Dance At Calamondin. Very showy and animated wheaten brindle dog, well balanced, keen expression, with a masculine head, good reach of neck with clean shoulders, level topline and tailset, moved with drive and purpose around the ring and he was so adaptable with his other handlers, (Linda and Anthony), he showed his little socks off, considered him for RCC.

2 Owen's Caldwall Call To Order. Another very showy wheaten brindle dog who oozed masculinity. Strong head, correct eye shape and colour, strong ribcage and well muscled hind quarters. Kept a level topline at all times, well schooled and moved around the ring effortlessly with his handler. Just prefered shoulders of 1st.

3 Saich's Lindcoly Holwing Mad Murdoc.

VB (2)

Two lovely ladies who are a credit to their owners.

1 Petts' Ch Doonrae Lexicon Of Love. 7 ½yr old dark brindle lady, lovely size and outline, attractive head, correct eye colour and shape, a forechest that you could not have missed, good length of neck flowing into clean shoulders, good topline and tailset, in superb condition. Really good front movement and flowed around the ring, you could tell that she was a very worthy champion.

2 Osborn's Ch Tweslam Maid By Magic. 10yr red bitch who brought her personality to the show ring once again, shown in shorter coat today but another lady who had nothing to hide, she contained a lot of attributes that the winner had, and another very worthy champion who it was a pleasure to go over. For me just prefered 1st's size but I am sure that on another day these ladies could change places.

MPB (2)

1 Catto's Birselaw Walk With Me. 8 months wheaten young lady, attractive head with good stop, presented in a full coat, level topline, good hind movement, a little loose today in front, but overall a pretty and promising bitch.

2 Saich's Lindcoly Singing Angel. 8months wheaten young lady, very much a baby, feminine head with neat ears, good front, rear movement ok. very showy and full of herself going around the ring.

PB (4,1)

A lovely promising class.

1 Inett, Harrison And Clayton's Carradine Jo. 10month wheaten attractive young lady that could not help but catch my eye, well schooled and at one with her handler, stunning head and well furnished, correct eye colour and shape. Good length of neck and clean shoulders, correct forechest. Good spring of rib already, level topline and well balanced. Shown in a good coat, nothing exaggerated and moved around the ring as if she had been doing it for years, undoubtably the Best Puppy Bitch and Best Puppy In Breed.

2 Miller's Cornton Eilidh Dhu. 9 month wheaten brindle puppy, well up on her legs, correct shape of head which will look a picture when she gets her face furnishings. Clean neck, level topline and tailset. finer boned than 1, nothing to hide, moved ok forward and back, moved well around the ring.

3 Saich's Lindcoly Golden Charm.

JB (3)

1 Catto's Birselaw Viking Princess. A very smart 17month brindle bitch who just oozed quality, feminine head, one of a few with a good forechest, beautiful neck and shoulders with a level topline. A lovely size and shape, she flowed around the ring and demanded attention. RBCC.

2 Saich's Lindcoly Golden Charm. 11 month light red bitch, still a puppy in many ways. Pretty head and shown in a very full coat which hid her shape when standing, nice size, moved ok both ways, carrying a little too much weight today but she will soon run that off hopefully. Showed well.

3 McKerrell's Valletlord Americano.

NB (5,2)

1 Lund's Cairngold Brandy Snap. A very striking well presented, red bitch with a lovely outline, pretty head, correct dentition, correct eye colour and shape, good bend of stifle. A natural showgirl. At first the handler did not stride out so that you could see her correct movement, but when asked to move her again at a faster pace her movement was spot on.

2 Catto's Birselaw Walk Right Back. 8 month wheaten baby, very showy for such a youngster, pleasing head with plenty of face furnishings, neat ears which gave an alert expression. Lovely length of neck, good shoulders. She will tighten up on movement when she is more mature and should be one to watch.

3 McKerrell's Valletlord Americano.

PGB (1)

1 Harrison's Carradine Winnie. Lovely red coat in good order. It did not matter that this young lady stood alone in this class. Again another quality bitch from this kennel of lovely size and shape, pretty head with lovely neck and shoulders, correct forechest, and good depth of ribcage. Well muscled and strong hind quarters, moved well, pushed hard for RBCC.

LB (2,1)

1 Osborn's Tweslam Gimme Gimme Magic. Attractive red bitch with good balance and pleasing outline, a lovely head, correct stop, clean shoulders, level topline and tail set, shown in short coat today but this showed that she has nothing to hide, responds well to her handler.

OB (1)

1 Petts' Brenndarcy Hunky Dory Among Doonrae. Stunning light red bitch, beautifuly presented in full coat and groomed. nothing over exaggerated, a lovely size and balanced outline which made her stand out for me. A head to die for with a good stop, correct eye clour and shape, melting expression, a very good length of neck running into clean shoulders, level topline which she held when standing and on the move, just flowed around the ring and shown on a loose lead, she knew exactly what she was doing and how to present herself to her full potential, today she was on her toes, "the one I would quite easily take home with me" it was my pleasure to award her BCC & BOB.
