CAIRN JUDGE SCOTTISH BREEDS 15

Cairn Terriers

Thank you to everyone who was sporting enough to enter under me. Overall coats were in good condition & I only found one bad mouth. I didn’t find any light eyes but a few Cairns lacked adequate brisket. On the whole rear movement was good.

VD (1)

1 Parkin’s Roachdee Mystery Of The Full Moon, nice clear red in harsh coat, good pigmentation with dark eye. Overall conformation correct, level topline, tail well placed, neither high nor low set. Moved well with drive from the rear & was a lively but steady showman. Presented nicely.

PD (2)

1 Confue & Pavlova’s Anjofra Roulette Russe, nice type. Wheaten, attractive head, correct mouth. Good length of neck flowing into sloping shoulders. Coat not in the best of condition today. Moved soundly both front & back;

2 Marshall’s Brenndarcy Lord Marmaduke avec Strathgarten, clear wheaten, beautiful head with typical dark ears. Good mouth. Conformation OK. In profuse coat of good quality. Preferred front movement of winner on the day.

JD (3)

1 Hogarty’s Cadagio Don’t Stop Me Now, rich r/br, stood foursquare, & well forward on forepaws. Adequate length of neck. Typical Cairny head with nice dark ears. Good mouth, excellent quality coat just coming in. Well up to size. Moved OK, very showy;

2 Catto’s Nordcairn’s Once Upon A Time at Birselaw, dark brindle boy in excellent quality profuse coat. Correct size for the Standard but his profuse coat made him look a little low to ground. Lovely head, good mouth, level topline, adequate length of neck, balanced with correct tailset. Showed & moved well. Unfortunate to meet winner today;

3 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Dark Charmer.

ND (1)

1 B Dark Charmer, balanced light gr/br, nothing wrong with make & shape. Attractive head, good mouth, used his ears well. Sound, moved very well. Coat not in condition today.

PGD (4)

1 Percy’s Winetta Sir Ivor, dark r/br, a quality Cairn. Most expressive head with definite stop, strong jaw, dark hazel eye of correct shape. Balanced with adequate length of neck & leg. Moved freely, drove from the rear, true front movement. Harsh coat, presented well but not overdone. Alert & responded well to handler. One to watch for the future. RCC;

2 Parkin’s Carradine My Mate Matthew, wheaten/br with a pleasing head. Dark ears, used well, correct mouth. Balanced throughout with a level topline, kept on the move. Tailset good & tail carried correctly. Moved OK, showed steadily for handler;

3 Miller’s Cornton Dark Corrie.

LD (4)

1 Inett & Engerbretsen’s Carradine Dexter, dark r/br, very alert & confident. A balanced Cairn who had a very profuse coat on the day. Although I found a good length of neck this was obscured somewhat due to his copious coat. Pleasing head, broad skull, definite stop, well furnished. Correct mouth. Level topline, showing very well. Moved with ease around the ring with plenty of rear drive;

2 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There And Back Again under Macmoon, dark brindle, nice type. Broad skull, expressive eyes. Strong male, well muscled with excellent coat in good condition. Very showy;

3 Miller’s Cornton Coulter.

OD (4)

1 Waites’ Svendalens Snow Knight, upstanding wheaten/br male, a strong Cairn. Powerful muzzle, strong jaw, good stop, dark ears. Lovely big teeth. Lovely flow of neck, no stuffiness. Good bone, smooth, sloping shoulders, strong hindquarters with good bend of stifle. Level topline kept on the move. Moved freely & easily. Harshest of coats. Responded well to owner. CC & BOB;

2 Shaw’s Ch Honeyhall Headboy, gr/br, nice type, well balanced. Pleasing head, deep stop, nice dark eye. Adequate flow of neck, correct front construction, level topline. True mover in front & drove from the rear. Showed very well indeed but preferred coat condition of winner;

3 Shannon, Storr & Kaplan’s Am Gr Ch Brenndarcy Borgen.

VB & PB (0).

JB (2)

1 Osborn’s Tweslam Born To Bewitch, light red, very feminine head & expression. Good mouth with correct bite. Small ears, used well. Clean shoulders, level topline, good spring of rib. Correct tailset. Lively showgirl. True front movement;

2 Dawson’s Sybster Saffron, another light red, preferred length of back & leg of winner. Kept her handler on her toes!

NB (1)

1 S Saffron.

PGB (8,1)

1 McGrath’s Brenndarcy Cinnamon Girl, bright red bitch in excellent double coat & hard condition. Well balanced & feminine with the best of heads, good mouth. Good length of neck into sloping shoulders, kept her level topline on the move. Nice bend of stifle. Moved really soundly. Handler needs to keep her on the move to get the best out of her;

2 Felters & Rumens’ Tweedisle Playing With Fire at Landbuck, bright red, a nice quality bitch. Sound & nicely balanced. Good bone. Level topline. Excelled in showmanship & moved freely around the ring. Just preferred the length of neck of winner but a close decision;

3 Waites’ Seveek Snow Angel with Svendalens.

LB (4)

1 Petts’ Doonrae Lexicon Of Love, took my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Very smart, feminine wheaten/br with a lovely head. Deep stop, dark hazel eye, strong jaw, correct length of muzzle. Good flow of neck into clean sloping shoulders. Straight front, level topline, strong in rear with good bend of stifle. In excellent coat & condition, presented to perfection, showed steadily & a really sound mover. CC;

2 Hogarty’s Cadagio Dressed To Impress, similar type to winner. Good head & eye, broad skull, well defined stop. Sound with enough bone. Front & rear assembly OK. Level topline, kept on the move. Correct tailset. Moved freely but didn’t quite have the showmanship of winner;

3 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Dizzee Rascal.

OB (5,1)

1 Felters & Rumens’ Ch Landbuck Zanthe, feminine cream with dark points. Correct size. Attractive head with lovely dark eye & ears. Adequate flow of neck, clean shoulders. Straight front, level topline, good bend of stifle, well muscled. A very animated showgirl in excellent profuse coat. Movement very true & steady. RCC;

2 Bateman & Inett’s Carradine In Love With Amy, gr/br bitch with typical dark points. Sound & well made throughout with well sprung deep ribs. Typical head & expression, good mouth. Straight front & slim shoulders. Strong & well muscled rear which provided good drive. Lovely harsh coat, well presented. Energetic showgirl who moved steadily. Very close decision;

3 Hogarty’s Ir Ch Cadagio Turning Tables.
