CAIRN JUDGE PAIGNTON 21

It was a delight and fun to judge this wonderful breed and I thank you all for your entries. Not the easiest venue to get to for some and I appreciate the time, money and effort of keeping and entering a coated terrier breed in the correct coat and condition. There was enough quality in the entry to select some lovely winners. Good luck to everyone at the future shows.

PD (1)

1 Munday’s Lentrica Mystic Warrior. What a cracker to start with. Quality upstanding youngster. Balanced and in proportion. His brindle jacket was in great condition and presented well. Very pleasing through a clean head, correct skull, good sized eye and small ears. Carried on a decent neck. Stood well forward on a correctly angled front. Well bodied through deep ribbing. Stood four square at all times. Strong rear. Covered the ground very well, true and clean from all angles. Sporting a thick abundant jacket to complete the picture. Certainly active and game, he however does need to curb a little of his enthusiasm in the ring and concentrate on the job in hand, I am sure this will come in time. Nice to see him awarded with a puppy group 4 later, even though he again was in naughty mode. Bright future ahead. RCC & BP.

JD (1)

1 Thomas’ Tom Tricks Jocan Ty Cadno (Swed Imp). Just turned 1 year. Pleasing through head, dark eye & clean bite. Compact throughout, well ribbed, ample bone, substance and supple loin. Well angled throughout. Moved steadily.

YD (2)

1 Byrne’s Carradine Howzat Howard. Lovely head, tidy ears, well placed eyes and strong dentition. Standing well forward, good ribbing, tidy tailset with plenty behind. Well angled throughout and was sporting a thick tidy jacket.

2 Peers, Peers & Peers’ Tweedisle Charismatic Guy. Smaller frame than 1 and not the substance. A little overawed by the surroundings today and never gave his best and did not show to advantage. Ok through head, neck and body. Coat a little soft. Didn’t really settle but moved ok in glimpses. Needs his confidence building.

ND (1)

1 Coe’s Kimmi A Coestar. Decent head, good skull shape and strength to muzzle. Scissor bite. Correctly set ears. Dark eye with a ‘breed typical’ naughty twinkle! Moderate neck, good angles. Correctly set tail. Not in the best jacket today. Moved steadily when he put his mind to.

PGD (3)

1 Keeves’ Seveek Cary On The Dream. Steady away, nothing exaggerated balanced young man. Ok through head, good ears when used, typical expression. Body of moderate length, bone ok, tailset good and well angled rear. Sporting a thick brindled jacket.

2 Peers, Peers & Peers’ Tweedisle Jaunty Lad. Good for type. Moderate length of body, pleasing typical head and expression. Well bodied, ample bone & Tailset ok. Thought him a little heavy today and not sporting the jacket of 1.

3 Shopland’s Cherrycrack Moonreakur.

LD (3)

1 Brookes’ Seveek Danish Delight At Zetamaz. 22mths. Steady away brindle dog, balanced and nothing exaggerated. Good for size, clean through head, typical expression with neat ears & dark well placed eye. Adequate length of neck, strong through a well ribbed body, level back, adequate through hindquarters. Tail well set and carried. Covered the ground steadily all ways. Jacket well presented, however would prefer more length and substance to it.

2 Harrison & Inett’s Carradine In’N Out Mr Sprout. 2 year old, good for type. Typical through a balanced head, with correct eye, dentition and ears. Good through body with well sprung ribs. Sporting a thick profuse jacket. Rather a little fired up today which impaired his movement.

3 Parker-Tucker’s Tom Trick’s Incredibly Ilay Of Uniquecottage AW.

OD (3,1)

1 Firth, Firth & Firth’s Ch Cairngold Chico JW. 4 yr old. A wheaten dog of lovely type and style, balanced and good for size. A balanced head with correct ears, eye, dentition and a lovely typical expression, clean through ribbing, good topline and tail set. Always stood four square, which showed on the move, he kept his outline and presented a well balanced picture. Moving freely and true all ways. Coat of lovely texture and quantity. CC & BOB.

2 Day’s Trekhilli Pepperazzi. Stronger, Masculine male, with a good balanced typical head, with dark eye and nice ears which he used. Good through a well ribbed body, ample bone and tidy feet. Tidy tail set and carriage, moved with steady free gait.

MPB (2)

1 Bubb’s Wandris Strike A Light. 7 mth brindle youngster, mature for age and showing well for her handler. Pleasing through a typical head, clean neck and front. Ample bone a body at this age. Presented in good jacket for age. Moved very well, freely, controlled and covering the ground briskly.

2 Osborn & Osborn’s Tweslam Be Gin The Magic (AI1) 8mths, but not as mature as 1. Pleasing through head, neck and angulation throughout. Typical puppy unsettled loose movement at present and will present a better picture with added time, body substance and training.

PB (2,1)

1 Waugh’s Glory Daze at Tribannon. 9mth, up to size bitch, but balanced throughout. Lovely through head, tidy eye, bite and typical cheeky expression. Strong through body and ribbing, with correct angulation front and rear. Tidy tailset. Jacket coming through. Moved really well in profile, striding out well and covering the ground.

JB (1)

1 Shannon & Storr’s Doonrae Rebel Rebel Among Brenndarcy. Brindle bitch, Pleasing through head with a typical expression. Dark eye, good ears, ample neck. Ok in body, sporting a jacket that is coming through. Movement was clean going away and ok in profile covering the ground.

YB (2)

1 Osborn & Osborn’s Tweslam Days Of Magic. Alert and on her toes, typical head, decent front ok through body. Jacket ok. Moved ok in profile, would however prefer a stronger movement from behind. Showed well.

2 Peers, Peers & Peers’ Tweedisle Enchanted Lady. Another typical through head. Sporting an abundance of thick jacket today. Hands on there was a decent structure underneath. moved true all ways, but was lacking any inspiration and alertness today.

NB (3,1)

1 Inett & Harrison’s Carradine Dottie. Dark brindle, who was pleasing through a typical head, correct eye and ears when used. Well angled front and rear. Clean through ribs and a body of moderate length. A little more neck would have completed the overall picture. Sporting a well presented jacket, moved true.

2 Parker-Tucker’s Uniquecottage Silver Solo. Heavier bitch than 1. Ok in head. Well bodied, good bone, rear angles, decent tailset. Of a happy disposition. Not the coat of 1.

PGB (4,1)

1 Keeves’ Seveek Everlasting Dream. Pleasing for overall shape, size and balance. Correct through head, lovely expression, ample body, decent ribbing. Jacket, thick and harsh. Moved in a typical fashion.

2 Hooton & Hughes’ Penticharm It’s My Party. Another who was good for overall size, shape and balance, but not sporting her best jacket today. Of moderate length, decent tailset and rear angles. Moved really well from all angles.

3 Bubb’s Hjohoo’s How Easy Hjo Please Me (Swed Imp).

LB (3)

1 Thomas’ Tycadno Yours Truly. This young quality lady topped a nice class. Lovely head and expression, well ribbed and bodied. Sporting a lovely thick jacket of correct texture. Well angled throughout, good through neck and tidy tailset. All together on the move, with an excellent rear, true and powering from behind.

2 Firth, Firth & Firth’s Cairngold Chiquitita. Another with quality. Sporting a thick jacket of quality, with harsh top coat and correct undercoat. Lovely expressive head, well used ears, good through ribbing and body, with a well set and held tail. Steady mover, but not as clean behind as 1.

3 Inett, Harrison & Clayton’s Carradine Jo.

OB (4)

1 Yates-Johnson’s Pendley Dinah. A quality bitch. Presenting a balanced overall typical shape, good for size. Very tidy through a typical head, with lovely expression and a sparkling eye. Ears well set and used. Stood well forward on a clean well placed front, well ribbed through body, supple loin and tidy tailset, which was held at 2pm on the move. Stood four square on strong padded feet. Sporting a good thick weather resistant jacket. So balanced and true on the move, couldnt resist her. (I was advised after judging that I had previously rewarded her as a baby with a BPIS at a club show). CC.

2 Goldfinch’s Tycadno Bright Star For Kanawha. Another of typical type and quality, who was very similar in frame and structure to the winner. Liked her for overall balance, size and shape. Good through head, ribs, neck, boby and angulation. She was sporting a thick well conditioned and presented jacket. Moving well all ways, she did enough to claim the RCC.

3 Kinton’s Cloverbrook Unbreakable At Woodthorpe.
