CAIRN JUDGE NAT DOG SHOW 09
Birmingham National Cairn Terriers 7 May 2009
Although not a large entry there was plenty of quality there. I would like to thank everyone for their entry. I found good heads with typical expression. Coats were on the whole in excellent condition and presentation first rate. I was disappointed to find the odd level bite and movement in some exhibits was poor. I was very happy with my top winners.
MPD (2) Abs: 0
1st: Keeves’ Seveek Dare Devil, bright red baby with dark mask and dark ears which he used well. Profuse, good quality coat. Nicely balanced, moved with drive, true action front and rear. Best Puppy Dog
2nd: Soper’s Elitecharm Dream Boy, wheaten, leggier than winner. Nice flow and length of neck. Lacking furnishings in comparison with 1. Moved well when he behaved. Will take time to mature.
PD (3) Abs: 0
1st: Warne’s Spirebrooke Dawn Raider, silver brindle of nice type. Masculine head with pleasing expression. Used his ears well. Correct length of neck flowing into clean shoulders. Double coat of excellent quality. Free mover and true both ways. Promising.
2nd: Wall’s Cloverbrook Ray Of Sunshine Over Shearwater, light red brindle of excellent type. Although still a youngster there is no mistaking him for a male. Lovely clean flowing lines, not overdone in any way. Level topline and correct tail set. Correct movement front and back, showed like a veteran, just preferred coat condition of winner.
3rd: Peers’ Tweedisle That Lone Guy
JD (5,2a)
1st: Marshall’s Strathgarten Crackerjack, nice sized red, attractive head with correct dark eye. Scissor bite with large teeth. Level topline, well angulated shoulders, correct set on tail. Good spring of rib. Nicely balanced, showed well.
2nd: Warne’s Spirebrooke Dawn Raider
3rd: Downie & Tate’s Jaeva Face The Music
PGD (3 ) Abs: 0
1st: Smith’s Rocasovale Razzle Dazzle, sturdy male with a beautiful head, broad skull with an excellent stop, strong jaw. Adequate length of neck, good depth and spring of rib, nicely set on tail. Presented well, in hard condition, moved with drive. On his toes. I liked him a lot.
2nd: Barney Alfie Lunar Hopper, light grey brindle, nice type, expressive masculine head, correct eye, shape and colour. Good body, topline level and back of correct length. Carried his tail well. Stood well, confident showman.
3rd: Lynch’s Fieldron Call My Bluff At Linacrelads
LD (5) Abs: 0
1st: Watson’s Fieldron I’ve Got News For You, grey brindle of excellent type. A head to die for with varminty expression. Correct bite, nice eye, used his ears well. Straight front, good neck and shoulders. Strong hindquarters. Kept his level topline on the move. In excellent double jacket, responded well to his handler, moved steadily.
2nd: Templeton’s Larchlea Time To Entertain, dark brindle another one with a lovely head. Good length of neck flowing into clean shoulders. Level topline and correct tail set. In excellent coat. Just preferred movement of winner.
3rd: Moseley & Inett’s Spawyche Elizabethan Onyx
OD (4) Abs: 0
A very strong class, I wished I had three red cards or even better, three CC’s!
1st: Grainger’s Devil In Disguise, I have never seen this red dog looking so well. In tip top condition, in both body and coat. He has a most attractive head which is well proportioned with desirable dark points. Dark eye of correct shape, size and colour. Deep stop, broad skull, jaw strong. Adequate length of neck, clean shoulders, good depth of rib. Strong, well muscled rear. Kept his level topline on the move, carried his tail well. Moved soundly, showed with animation, presented to perfection. Well deserved CC which I understand makes him up.
2nd: Cameron’s Stryveling Robb Ruadh, another clear red, close up to winner and similar in type. He is a quality well balanced Cairn and so many of my remarks on the winner apply to him too. He was presented in fine fettle and he was one of the best movers of the day. Unlucky to meet winner in such fine form. Close decision. RCC.
3rd: Pollock’s Ch Larchlea Licence To Thrill At Stanedykes
MPB (8) Abs: 2
1st: Braybrook’s Cloverbrook Xtra Factor, grey bindle, quality youngster with such a cheeky expression in her eyes. Strong but feminine head, small ears used well. Good deep stop. Adequate neck, good bodyshape, strong rear. Well balanced and in a really profuse jacket. Moved well with drive and a nice width in the rear. Lively shower & well presented. Best Puppy
2nd: Templeton’s Larchlea Can't Remember, excellent type with a gorgeous head and lovely flow of neck. Level topline and correct tail set. Presented herself well, natural showgirl. Coat of good condition. Unlucky to meet winner.
3rd: Parkin’s Roachdee Toffee Crisp
PB (7) Abs: 3
1st: Dolan’s Glenrood Warrior Princess Naf. Grey brindle, excellent outline, pleasing head and expression, well constructed, level topline into correct tailset. Excellent good coat, needs time to mature but time is on her side. Movement true.
2nd: Warne’s Spirebrooke Morning Glory, silver brindle, typy pup, feminine head, balanced, level topline, needs to tighten in front movement.
3rd: Mcintyre’s Glenchess Chloe
JB (7 ) Abs: 1
The first three in this class could easily change places on a different day. Three beautiful bitches.
1st: Confue’s Anjofra Welcome To La La Land, animated clear red of correct size with a lovely head and expression. Good bone, not too heavy. Well balanced, clean shoulders, moved effortlessly round the ring. In good coat, presented well.
2nd: Osborn’s Tweslam Paws For Magic, another clear red, well up on the leg. Feminine head, expressive eyes, correct mouth with large teeth. Correct length of neck, level topline, moved really well front and rear, needs a bit more confidence and she will trouble the best. Not quite as finished as winner.
3rd: Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Button It JW
PG (7) Abs: 1
1st: Burgin’s Noncom Miss Hat He Chewed, showy grey brindle. Nothing flashy but oh so sound! Feminine head with broad skull and correct eye shape and colour. Good mouth. Clean shoulders, correct length of neck, level topline and good tailset. Moved true and with drive from the rear.
2nd: Felters & Rumens’ Landbuck Jazz Hands, eyecatching cream, very well presented and with coat in really good condition. Level topline, good tailset. Well constructed, nicely balanced bitch. Just preferred the head of winner.
3rd: Chambers & Exton’s Cairngrove Clever Clogs
LB (7 ) Abs: 0
I found this a hard class to judge with many quality exhibits. The first three were close up.
1st: Inett & Harrison’s Noncom Minnie The Minx At Carradine, I see that this bitch is the litter sister to the winner of PG and she does carry all the attributes of her litter sister. Stylish silver brindle of correct size. She presented herself very well indeed standing well forward on forepaws, I liked her a lot.
2nd: Short’s Glenchess Cut The Mustard, very showy clear red who carried her topline very well on the move. Feminine expressive head with good mouth and stop. Nice eye. Correct shoulders, nicely bodied. In excellent coat and condition. Free mover, presentation first class. One and two could change places anytime.
3rd: Thompson’s Castleline Bonnie Jw
OB (4 ) Abs: 0
1st: Thompson’s Castleline Tiger Lily, grey brindle, strong in head but feminine. Those eyes make the expression which is typical of our breed and her dark mask finished the picture. Her body is well constructed, ample but not too much bone. Good forechest and correct lay of shoulder. Kept her topline as she effortlessly moved around the ring. Well presented. A quality bitch who well deserved the CC and BOB.
2nd: Shannon, Storr & Culliford’s Ch Brenndarcy Be Bop Deluxe, a very worthy champion looking very well today. She was in good coat and condition and she is so well balanced. She is soundly constructed, with correct shoulder placement and strong hindquarters. Level topline and correct tailset. Moved true and with drive from the rear. Showed and presented well. RCC
3rd: Inett, Harrison & Clayton’s Carradine
