NI Cairn TC 24 Judge

North of Ireland Cairn Terrier Club Championship Show 29th September 2024.

I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to come and judge your show. Special thanks go to Leanne Alexander for contact all the way through and on the day thanks to the Show Secretary Liam Dean and my very efficient Ring Steward Michael Western, who kept the ring running smoothly all the time.
I thank the exhibitors for the lovely entry and for the way the show was held in a very relaxed and happy atmosphere, with everybody enjoying themselves.

Minor Puppy Dog (1entry, 0 absent)

1 Saich Lindcoly Golden Bently (NAF), 7 months old dog of good type, well made head but could have more stop. Nice neck & acceptable shoulder, good body & topline, correct tail set & well made hindquarters. Moved well behind, would prefer a little longer stride in front. Best Puppy Dog.

1.Saich Lindcoly Golden Bently (NAF), See Minor Puppy Dog.
2.Lamb & Saltmarsh Tycadno Shining Star Around Macmoon, Well grown 9½ months old dog with good balance but for me right now, there should be a little more of him all the way round from head to tail. Well made hindquarters which he used well, could have a longer stride in front. Good double coat.

Junior Dog (1,0)

1.Shopland Sanderfield On The Rocks For Cherrycrack, 15 month old dog of good size & type. Well made head with good stop. Correct eye & well placed ears. Good neck, correct body with good topline & tail set. Well made hindquarters. Unfortunately not helping his handler when moving, by pulling all over the place.

1.Thomas Tycadno Magic Man, Masculine 2½ year old dog of good type and balance, well made head with good stop, ears, eyes & expression. He has good substance but could have had a better topline on the day, moderate angulations behind and he moved steadily. Good coat.

Open Dog (5,2)

Best class of the day with three good representatives of the breed.

1.Hogarty Ch. Cadagio Another Day In Paradise, Dog of excellent type, size and balance. Masculine head with good stop, well placed ears & eyes all this giving the best of expressions. Correct bite with good size teeth. Good reach of neck with a good shoulder placement, Good front & forechest. Good body with well sprung ribs & firm level topline. Correct tail set & well made hindquarters. He moved so true coming & going. Showed himself very well & was in top class coat & condition. A great pleasure to award him Dog CC & Best in Show.

2. Parker-Tucker Uniquecottage Grey Borage, Another dog who is a very honest type all the way through. Excellent head & expression, good neck & shoulders. Well bodied with good ribcage & level topline. Well made hindquarters & he moved soundly. Very close up to winner, just thought that No.1 was in top class coat & condition. A very well deserved Res.CC.

Veteran Dog or Bitch (6,4)

1 Smith Cannwood Misty Dawn At Gethlee, 8 years old bitch with good head, small well placed ears & excellent stop giving lovely expression. Well balanced shape throughout & with a good topline. She moved well both ways. Best Veteran.

2 Keegan Mistress Cochran, She was well constructed in many ways but these points were spoiled by her overweight.

Two puppy bitches of high quality.

1 Hogarty Cadagio Amelie, 11 month old bitch of excellent balance & type. Excellent head with good stop, well placed ears & eyes giving good expression. Correct bite, good neck & shoulders, good front & forechest. Well bodied with good spring of ribs. Level topline with correct tail-set. Well made hindquarters, she moved well & was in excellent coat & condition. I see that she is sired by my BIS winner, very pleased to award her Best Puppy Bitch, Best Puppy in Show & the Bitch Res. CC. 

2 Thomas Tycadno Winter Star, Another quality puppy bitch of good balance & type. Good head with correct placement of eyes & ears, correct bite. Good neck, shoulders & front, good body & depth. Nicely made hindquarters, moved well. Could have had a little better topline & she was in full coat to-day.

Junior Bitch (3,0)

1 Shaw Ch. Tycadno Star Attraction At Honeyhall, An eye catching 17 month old bitch of correct type & size. Well made head with good stop, small well placed ears, good eyes giving excellent expression. Good neck & shoulder placement, good body but she was carrying the maximum body weight to-day. Beautiful short tail which was well set, nicely made hindquarters & she moved very well. Well presented but coat could have been a little more crisp. Excellent showgirl. A pleasure to award her Bitch CC & Res. Best in Show.

2 Thomas Castleline Seren At Tycadno, 11 months old bitch of good balance & type. Nice head with good stop, well placed ears & correct bite. Good topline & tail set, acceptable front movement but would prefer a little more width & drive behind. Good coat.

Maiden Bitch (1,0)

1 Alexander Cannwood Moonlight Lady (ATC TAF), 22 months old bitch of excellent balance & type. Well made head with good stop, well placed ears & eyes giving good expression. Good neck & shoulders, would prefer more forechest. Good body & topline. Good tail set but would prefer a better carriage. Well made hindquarters. She moved well & was in very good coat.

Novice Bitch (1,0)

1 Saich Lindcoly Singing Angela, She was placed No.3 in Junior bitch, 15 month old bitch of good balance & type, She has many good points but at this present time is very immature & needs time. She has a good topline & tail set & moved well when she settled.

Graduate Bitch (1,0)

Post Graduate Bitch (3,1)

1 Parker-Tucker Birselaw Floral Dancer Of Uniquecottage, 27 month old bitch of good balance & type. Nicely made head & keen expression, good body with level topline & correct tail set. Well made hindquarters, she moved well & was in good show condition. In the challenge considered her for top honours.

2 Keegan Golden Shadow Of Loughend, 6½ year old bitch who is up to size but well balanced. Well balanced head, a little big in ears but lovely dark eyes. Good neck unfortunately carrying to much weight to-day which also spoiled her front, she moved well & had a correct texture of coat.

1 Saich Lindcoly Picture Perfect, 2 year old bitch who was well balanced, attractive head with well placed ears, correct bite. Good neck with nice shoulders & good topline. Correct tail set, Moved well & holding her outline well in movement, good coat.

Open Bitch (5,3)

1 Hogarty Ir. Ch.Cadagio Lets Get It Started, What a pleasure to go over this bitch, she is so well put together. Very well balanced, she has a beautiful head with good stop & well placed ears giving excellent expression. Correct bite. Excellent neck, shoulders & front. Strong level back with good topline & tail set. Moved with purpose & drive. In excellent coat & condition. Consider her for top honours but unfortunately could not get passed her size.

2 Smith Cloverbrook Shining Star Over Gethlee, Another bitch who is up to size. Good head & stop, could have a shade shorter in foreface & have smaller ears. Good neck & shoulders, good body, could have a little better topline. Moved well & had a good coat.

Special Beginners Bitch (1,0)

1 Keegan Mistress Cochran, Shown in this class by her owner & she did a very good job.
